Analysis of the Current Factions on the Daily Paul

There are:

  • The No One But Paul! faction. Two subsets:
    • "Ron Paul can still actually win!"
    • "I can't bring myself to vote for anyone else"
  • The Vote Gary Johnson faction. Also two subsets:
    • GJ can actually win!
    • "Let's send a message to the GOP!"
  • The I'm not voting for nobody faction. "Voting is a scam, and I refuse to be anyone's monkey."
  • The Vote Romney faction. "Because Ron Paul told us to stay in the GOP."
  • The Vote Obama faction. "Let's really punish the GOP!"

Any others that I missed?

People say we need to "be united," but that is not true. We are all individuals and we need to follow our own paths. People say, "Ron Paul united us, so we should do what he says." But that is not true either. Ron Paul did not unite us, we all voluntarily chose to unite behind him. There is a big difference. And that difference means that there is no need to drop our individuality now. We are still all united in our love of liberty, regardless of how we choose to express it.

Whatever path you choose - and all pursuers of all are welcome here - what I ask is that you please don't attack one another. Furthermore, please don't preach about how your path is the one and only true and correct path. This is getting tiresome. Your path is the one true and correct one, for you, for now. Don't try to force others into it. Offer your observations and explain and share with us what you're doing and why, but don't expect people to follow you.

This is my observation on the first faction: No One But Paul - was a campaign slogan. It originated in the grassroots, but was coopted by the Campaign and used to great effect for a moneybomb that raised a lot of money. But clearly, from the campaign's leadership perspective, it was nothing more than a slogan.

No one but Paul... And Mitch McConnell?

wrinkle to your first category, vote Ron Paul to send a message

to GOP - even if it is just in the 'undervote' counted with all other votes or blanks for president that aren't for the sanctioned candidates. You have to vote for SOMETHING on the ballot to have the undervote for President counted, however. And that way it can't be spun as apathy or contentment with whomever, which to me is a key point. In states where his votes aren't counted, leaving it blank would have the same effect.

A rejection of the lot.

But I agree individuality is a good, not an evil. 'Let it not be said we did nothing....' not 'let it be said we all did the same thing'.

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

There is only ONE FACTION left at the Daily Paul

and that is the I LOVE RAND PAUL FACTION!!! regardless of his actions

I've noticed over the past few weeks that the Daily Paul is quickly becoming a bastion of ignorance! The Rand Paul Circus followers dominate now and the true liberty lovers are leaving.

Rand Paul is a neocon/religious right hybrid and has been from the very beginning. He was chosen by the RNC to split his father's followers in two and he accepted and accomplished that objective. I hoped by pointing out Rand's daily hippocrisy that people would wake up from their slumber and see him for what he truly is.

A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING !!! His act of treachery against this movement and his father should not be forgiven so easily and now it appears that this website has been rededicated in his honor.

Forget the gold, a website devoted to Peace, Liberty and Love simply cannot put a war monger on the front page and be taken seriously!

YES, Sanctions are an ACT OF WAR!!! Just like Dr. Paul taught us.

Sort of not in that list

I'm still voting, but i'm not sure if i'm going to vote on the Presidential race. I live in Indiana and i'm still trying to find out if it would disqualify my ENTIRE ballot by writing in Ron Paul (which, i know, won't count to anyone except me.) I haven't decided about Gary Johnson yet. But i still plan on voting for the other offices. Is voting pointless? Maybe, but it only takes 15 minutes for me and i can hope it does a little something to help the cause of liberty.

"Any others that I missed?"

Yes, you forgot this one Michael:

A faction of one.

Note: This faction is permanently closed to new members.
ME does however offer free assistance in forming your own faction of you alone.

Thank You, glad you liked it, it is true

I like this very much:

IMHO, there is nothing wrong if....

people would like to :

a) support GJ
b) work in the GOP party (vote Romney) or the Democratic party (vote Obama)
c) write-in Dr Paul in November
d) will not vote come November

I think whether we stay out or we support A,B or C is petty and irrelevant at this point.

What matters is the POST-ELECTION strategy. The strategy to co-opt both parties is a brilliant strategy.

If we look at history, the Zionist have always prefer leftist movement. Early on, the Democratic party were filled with them. As Ron Paul had said many times in his 2008 and 2012 debates, back then, Republican party was known as the party of peace and the Dems were the one who wanted foreign interventions.

So, why cant we follow the Zionist strategy to co-opt both parties? It work well for them, did it not? Why cant we have liberty minded candidates in all parties (GOP/Dems/Lib/Green/Constitution/etc).

The liberty movement must be nurtured in all parties. Americans must take America back from those dual-citizen Zionist.

I would also like to add....

that we should have liberty minded candidates not just in ALL political parties but we should also create liberty pressure groups or lobby groups like the AIPAC and others.

The key is to play within the system folks - follow what Ron Paul taught us. The Zionist control the US political system in every stage. We should take it back from them.

I am not an American, I'm British. However, I believe what happened in America affects the entire world - that is why I supported Ron Paul.

I'm my own faction BUT I DEMMAND TO BE COUNTED

I'm in the hippy libertarian conservative white indian faction. It's basically identity politics carried to schizophrenic levels.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

Your collective is ignored and underserved

The only two factions I really care about...

1) sincerely want to promote liberty.
2) say that they want to promote liberty but are really trying to destroyit.

I can work with anyone in the first category no matter how divergent our opinions on strategy and tactics.

The Virtual Conspiracy

Absolutely agree with you!

Since the early Ron Paul 2008 campaigns, we all knew that there were different ppl supporting Ron Paul for different reasons.

a) Some like his foreign policy (me)
b) Some like his economy policy
c) Some like his libertarian views
d) Some like him for his records in obeying the constitution
e) Some like him for being an honest politician

Just like post 2008, when the campaign ended, all these groups went their separate ways. Some join and work within the GOP system but many went their own ways.

When Ron Paul announced his campaign in 2012, we all came together again. Despite our differences, we came together as a united force.

Unity in diversity. Who becomes the President comes November is irrelevant. If Gary Johnson gets 30%-40% of the votes also it does not matter. What matter is POST-ELECTION. We need to co-opt ALL parties.

Agree. I would add one more faction:

3)Say they want to promote/achieve LIBERTY but have an ulterior agenda and see the LIBERTY Movement as an opportune vehicle to work that agenda.

The ulterior agendas are many; some have very personal ones, personal enrichment(monetary gain/power), some are group/ideology agendas.

Great comment spacehabits

Here is an idea worth

Michael, Gary Johnson is the choice.

I was so happy to see the Daily Paul survive through its fledgling days and to see it now, continuing to promote liberty, despite shady political operatives trying to derail the movement for personal gain (such as Jesse Benton) is nothing short of electrifying.

I supported Dr. Paul in 1988 at the age of 21. Iran-Contra and the related Crack epidemic was the initial issue which convince to me research deeper in to Dr. Ron Paul's positions and Libertarianism. I voted Libertarian for the most part in all elections since then. This went on until Dr. Paul made his faithful decision in 2007 to run for the White House. At that time, I change my party affiliation to Republican. I already knew the Ron Paul platform and had been following his expanding influence on the Hill. In 2008, the Libertarians ask me for campaign donations, I sent a letter email back stating the Libertarian Party needs to move all-in with Paul, America's economic future is looking dismal (Schiff, Faber, etc.) if we do not expose the Pro Globalist Anti-American factions in both major parties our country is doomed. I never looked back and the Libertarian party only looked forwarded enough to ride on Dr. Paul's coat-tails. Well now after years of disappoint watching the RP Captain of the Helm plow into iceberg after iceberg, even while voices of wisdom (Woods and Weed) tried desperately to counter Benton's INTENTIONAL errors in direction, there is a rescue vessel on the horizon, and that ship is named Gary Johnson. JOHNSON HAS BEEN TREATED EXACTLY LIKE RON PAUL BUT EVEN WORSE. In my mind, and many in the liberty movement agree, that once Gary Johnson announce his running, he was hand's down the most experienced political executive running in the Republican Party. Probably the most successful Governor running in the campaign. Even when the announcement was made that Gary Johnson would run, many forums, including this one, had a Johnson/Paul dream ticket. If Paul and Johnson would have pledge support for one another a year ago can you imagine what would have occurred? This never happened and Jesse Benton is probably the reason Paul did not insist that any debate and POLL must include the two time Governor. Yet Dr. Paul always said it was disappointing not to have Governor Johnson in the initial debate process. And so many of us agree with Dr. Paul and so on, and so on, and now we have GARY JOHNSON THE CANDIDATE, THE BEST EXECUTIVE IN THE 2012 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, maybe in any Presidential election in modern times, and if the question is do you believe that your vote should be based upon principle? And you believe the President's job is NOT to provide for the safety of the American people, but the enforcement of the Constitution to protect and preserve the Republic from all enemies foreign and domestic? The answer should be clear to any true American.... Gary Johnson ... The future of Our Republic is not worth a protest vote. This is not a protest vote, this is a referendum on liberty. I urge all to vote and poll for Gary Johnson.

And as far as Obama and Romney factions? They are nothing but dupes or communists; and a blind communist is still a communist. And MN, this is not an attack, this is fact. The conventions proved this to be the case. If someone can still support the dog and pony, I mean the pachyderm and donkey show, they gotta a screw loose and need therapy if they think the major party candidates represent a Free Society.

I Rike this!

"The casualty of partisanship is objectivity."

Stay in the Republican party? Go ahead, if that is what you would like to do. Personally, I will never associate with either major political party again.

Happy Libertarian

How about this?

Gov. Jesse Ventura has announced recently on the Alex Jones show and other tv outlets that he will run for President in 2016 IF the "grass roots" ,that's us, will fight to get him on the ballot in 50 states as a completely independent candidate. He has also made it clear that he does not want millions in donations. He wants us to prove that WE the PEOPLE still have power in the USA. Whatever you think about Jesse,I consider him to be honest and someone who can really shake things up in the next 4 years. Thoughts?

Those Who Vote on Principle on All Possible Options That Count

I would fit in the category of someone who would vote on principle on all the viable options on the ballot. In my state that would mean I would study and choose from all who are on the ballot in my state plus any who are approved for write-in votes. In my state only "approved" write-in candidates get counted and Ron Paul is not one of them. Had Ron Paul been approved as a write-in candidate then I would vote for him (a no-brainer). As it stands now I am looking at either Virgil Goode (Constitution Party) or Gary Johnson. I am currently leaning towards Gary Johnson.

My theory is this: If everyone studied and voted for who they thought the best person was (regardless of so-called "chances to win") then the press would have NO POWER over the voters. There would be no "2-slot" cattle chute with which to herd the voters (As in the "D" Chute and the "R" Chute).

Yeah, you left out Constitution Party Ron Paul endorsed in 2008

The Constitution party is a pretty sizable faction judging from "I'm voting for posts" I've seen - and would have to be. And yes, those of us who are supporting it note when it is marginalized like 89 second debates.

Unlike Gary Johnson though, people who support the conservative candidate don't endlessly repost and spam. I - and I believe this goes for many who are likely supporters of Goode, think most of the debating styles on these forums are juvenile. We're the type of posters that are more likely to write thoughtful articles for magazines, not spam one line comments, etc.

The Ron Paul movement, if any such still exists, really needs to get rid of some bad advice from 60s leftists on how to have forums and honest discussion.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

why did Chuck Baldwin not run?

Why did Chuck Baldwin not run again? I wish he would have, a much more passionate speaker, true conviction and none of the political voting record baggage.
I have the same question though, why the Constitution Party is being margininalized even on here. If they get the votes, does that not also give them automatic ballot access?

Not yet a faction...

but hopefully you want be leaving this out in 2014. Libertarians , in or out of the GOP, do not have numbers to win this or the next 5 elections. The same goes for us progressives. If we both want to advance our agendas we will have to find a way to form a fusion or coalition ticket and along with it encourage crossover voting and mutual endorsements. I am leaning toward Jill Stein but I'm in a swing state and might go with punishing the GOP by voting for Obama.

Good points - voted you up

Although, as a long time Green tofu-hugger myself, I hope you'll go for
Jill Stein rather than Obama. Any non-Romney vote is punishing
the GOP (it's evil leadership, anyway) and any vote for other
than Obama/Romney is a vote against the Demopublican monopoly...

As of now, I'm planning to stay in the Republican Party and vote
for GJ - we'll see what happens after that.

Thanks Robin

Haven't checked in here for several days. If Stein were on the ballot in NC i would definitely vote for her. I might decide to go with Johnson as a vote against both corporate parties. I really hope libertarians and progressives will wake up to the political reality that neither of us has the numbers to beat the Ds and Rs unless we intentionally form a real and co-ordinated coalition strategy.

Republicans and Democrats are both owned by the bankers

They own both candidates and it is they who make the decisions as to who wins depending on whether they think the Republicans or Democrats are better suited to advance their agenda at any given time. So what you are saying is you may use the left hand sock puppet to "punish" the right hand sock puppet.

What may have happened (according to Joel Skousen of World affairs brief www.worldaffairsbrief.com) is that orders came down (from the bankers) to the "10 fat men" in the Republican Party to shaft as much as possible the Ron Paul people. This may be indicative of a decision by the bankers that they have chosen Obama for term #2 by splitting off the libertarian vote away from Romney into other channels.

It could also mean the bankers have yet to make up their mind as they thought Romney may get too strong too soon and they shafted the Paul people to keep Romney in closer balance so they can evaluate Romney a little bit longer before doing their behind the scenes "hocus-pocus" to push it one way or the other.

The best way to vote is by principle only while looking at the entire field of candidates on the ballot (plus any that can be written in and actually counted by your state). I would hope that would rule out either of the sock puppets.

Here's something to ponder:
