Analysis of the Current Factions on the Daily Paul

There are:

  • The No One But Paul! faction. Two subsets:
    • "Ron Paul can still actually win!"
    • "I can't bring myself to vote for anyone else"
  • The Vote Gary Johnson faction. Also two subsets:
    • GJ can actually win!
    • "Let's send a message to the GOP!"
  • The I'm not voting for nobody faction. "Voting is a scam, and I refuse to be anyone's monkey."
  • The Vote Romney faction. "Because Ron Paul told us to stay in the GOP."
  • The Vote Obama faction. "Let's really punish the GOP!"

Any others that I missed?

People say we need to "be united," but that is not true. We are all individuals and we need to follow our own paths. People say, "Ron Paul united us, so we should do what he says." But that is not true either. Ron Paul did not unite us, we all voluntarily chose to unite behind him. There is a big difference. And that difference means that there is no need to drop our individuality now. We are still all united in our love of liberty, regardless of how we choose to express it.

Whatever path you choose - and all pursuers of all are welcome here - what I ask is that you please don't attack one another. Furthermore, please don't preach about how your path is the one and only true and correct path. This is getting tiresome. Your path is the one true and correct one, for you, for now. Don't try to force others into it. Offer your observations and explain and share with us what you're doing and why, but don't expect people to follow you.

This is my observation on the first faction: No One But Paul - was a campaign slogan. It originated in the grassroots, but was coopted by the Campaign and used to great effect for a moneybomb that raised a lot of money. But clearly, from the campaign's leadership perspective, it was nothing more than a slogan.

No one but Paul... And Mitch McConnell?

I'm not sure if you've noticed yet, but both Parties, and that cesspool of a Capital of ours are infested with progressives... they are the enemy of Liberty.

For Liberty!

Focusing on labels

rather than substance is counterproductive.

In Oregon, anyway, some of the strongest support for some
important Liberty issues has come from Democrats, whom
most here would consider pretty liberal. For example, Oregon
was the only state where both Senators voted against NDAA
Wyden and Merkley - both Democrats.

Wyden and Rep. Peter Defazio have been in the forefront
about trying to warn about the TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership)
free trade agreement that Obama has been pushing.

And my useless neocon Republican Representative will, in all
likelihood be for it like he was with NDAA..

Defazio on TPP:

This happened in the early

This happened in the early 90s, partly fueled by Iran Contra and George Bush's NWO speech and read my lips (I'm lying!).

Ie Perot was an in-between candidate. What happened is we saw them threaten his family and the whole ball drop. But it was pretty amazing to see how far a third party candidate got.

United We Stand was a pretty good slogan.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

is how QUICK Perot rose. It didn't take "generations" like Establishment people claim of third parties. IT HAPPENED IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.

F the R's

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

The way you do that is take over the GOP...

...that's the reality of the politics today.

Crossover votes count for < 1%, in other words not worth even talking about.

So do what actually WINS. This time will be harder. Winning conventions will not be enough. Now, we'll also have to control the state central committees and state executive committees of the GOP.

That means that the 2016 election began in February. If you're not already running for party OFFICE (higher than PC), county central committees and state central committees, then you're already 6 months behind for 2016.

"take over the GOP"

1980's + "take over the GOP" + "Reagan Revolution" = BIGGER GOVERNMENT.

1990's + "take over the GOP" + "Contract With America" = BIGGER GOVERNMENT.

2000's + "take over the GOP" + "Compassionate Conservative" = BIGGER GOVERNMENT.

2010 + "take over the GOP" + "Tsunami" = BIGGER GOVERNMENT.

... see the pattern?

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

Yeah, except we're Ron Paul people.

Nuff said.

Actually no...

some of "us" are RAND Paul people.

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

Oooops. A few corrections...

"If we both want to advance our agendas" - mine is simply Constitutional law and liberty - "we" MUST FULLY AND WHOLLY REJECT THE LEFTIST, SOCIALIST, CHICKENHAWKING, CONSTITUTION-SMASHING republican/democrat (same thing) party. Until this happens... NOTHING WILL CHANGE. Not in 2014, not in 2016, NOT EVER!

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

If every libertarian

left the GOP and everyone one of them along with all the independent, Democratic and 3rd party libertarians join the LP they might constitute 30% of registered voters (probably closer to 20%). 20 years from now you might increase that by 10 percentage points but if you want to win a an election in 2016 you will do it only if you make an alliance with progressives.

Need some Libertarians who...

...are experts in investigating those rigged machines!

You missed the

GET THE HELL OUTTA THE leftist, socialist, progressive, Constitution-shredding, chickenhawking republican/democrat (same thing) party.

The Constitution Party!
The Libertarian Party!

Until the republican party is completely rejected, nothing changes (as Tampa proved).

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

And here we have that other

And here we have that other third party "that is not allowed to be mentioned" again.

Some of you are adopting the tactics of the opposition you claim to hate. 'becoming the thing you hate.'

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Anti-truthers faction

I'm in there.

stunning statement

. . . did you hear what you just said?

Anti-truthers ... are what? Pro-liars?

stunning . . .

Don't be pedantic

Pretty sure they meant they were not in favor of wild conspiracy theories, not "pro-lying".

Future of this site

Awhile back, I saw a post about what the future for this site will be since Ron Paul is retiring. The webmaster said he's not interested in a "Daily Rand". I'd say rebrand the site around Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) and supporting YAL PAC candidates. Call the site the "Daily Liberty".

Instead of fixating on presidential elections, people on this site should focus more on Congressional elections and getting Ron Paul candidates into office through grassroots organizing and lots and lots of moneybombs.

This focus will also limit all the bickering over what candidate to support. Since YAL PAC candidates are already endorsed by Ron Paul.

I fall in all of these

I fall in all of these factions.

1- I believe Ron Paul can and will still win. He won't win the presidency, but for those in the Republican Party...

If you think you've won you never saw Ron Paul change the game that we've all been playing

2- I'm voting for GJ because it puts the Libertarian Party in a better position to qualify as a real major party. GJ cannot win, but the Libertarians can--and that makes the DEMS and the GOP (unless they change) vulnerable to a mass exodus for those both parties have trampled over.

3- Voting is a scam, or at least it was in Tampa. We don't deal with scams by going away, we deal with them by purging the scammers.

4- I'm staying in the GOP, we have many good candidates worthy of our support. People from Jim Demint to Kurt Bills, to Ted Cruz, to one of our local RP supporters running for County office. I would no more abandon these guys than I would my own principles.

5- After what happened in Tampa, F u c k Romney. I hope our RP electors deny him the presidency. Libertarians will not tolerate being treated the way we were in Tampa.

The only faction is that is

The only faction is that is of concern to me is one that would try to co-op Liberty for its demise. It was easy follow Dr. Paul because he was principled. I haven't been around Liberty long enough to know who or what to follow now. I do know though, that as long as I follow Jesus I will be OK.

BMWJIM's picture

Why follow anyone.

Maybe leading would be a good start. Start locally.

I follow NO ONE. I lead where I can and fight when I can't.

Hmmm, some are leaders, some

Hmmm, some are leaders, some are followers. IMO leaders are not leaders unless they have followers. My husband is a leader. People naturally follow him. I am more of a follower. I like to follow a good leader. It is natural for me. I am a good support person. Give me a job and it will be done.

It sounds like you are a leader. You like to lead? People like to follow you? Just think, if no one followed you, you would not be a leader because you would have no one to lead.

Well stated.

Stay in the Republcian Party DON'T Vote For Romney

The Republican Party is just an empty vessel until we fill it with values. Stay within the party. VOTE FOR SOMEONE ELSE FOR PRESIDENT.

And please DON'T vote for Obama. The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.

Also, has anyone seen this new video of Rand Paul preaching within the Lion's Den. IT'S AWESOME:

GET OUT of the leftist, socialist, progressive republican party!

The Constitution Party and Libertarian party are empty vessels until we fill them with values.

Brother Winston Smith

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

Anyone who votes for Romney

Anyone who votes for Romney is telling the GOP that it's okay for them to continue screwing us over.

If the GOP is ever going to take us seriously, then we definitely need to stand up and be counted. Either we vote in large numbers for Gary Johnson or Virgil Goode, or we write in Ron Paul's name (but please only do that if you know that your state definitely will count your vote). Personally, I think it would be best to concentrate our votes on GJ because he's on the ballots in all 50 states and that would show the GOP that they need to take us seriously. However, people are going to do what they are going to do, so please just stand up and be counted.

Michael, This is a post worth my coming back to have my say.

This is the post that makes me wish to thank my friend and his wife that gave me the impetus to try my hand at making soap. I am now baking bread(sourdough). This is the movenment that gave me insight to curing cancer, growing and SHARING SEED. Becoming self sufficient. Helping others locally to grow what God gave us without corruption. Sharing a greenhouse with like minded INDIVIDUALS!

INDIVIDUALS. I love that word, for it speaks volumes to my heart. I am nothing special. I am just one of Gods many, many children.

I care NOT for what anyone thinks or wants with their Government for My Government resides within ME.

I will share with anyone my knowledge and want nothing in exchange. There are some critical changes coming soon and each must prepare for themselves. Bring your friends close. Wrap your arms around your family. The most important thing is to ENJOY the Ride.

It is going to be a THRILLER!

I guess...

...I'm in the "Let's send a message" and vote Gary Johnson faction.

Here's my view of the other factions:

1. GJ can win faction: delusional

2. Paul can still win faction: really delusional

3. Can't bring myself to vote for anyone but Paul faction: I sympathize but think they're missing an opportunity to send a message about our numbers, because most write-ins won't be counted/reported.

4. I'm not voting for nobody faction: I sympathize, but strongly oppose this kind of apathy, it will be the end of us

5. Vote Romney faction: go screw yourselves

6. Vote Obama faction: I understand your logic, but Romney will lose anyway, we don't need to vote Obama to make that happen, and voting Obama won't show the establishment how serious we are, voting third party will

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Voting for Obama is worse

Voting for Obama is worse than voting for Romney (yes, that is indeed possible).
