There is no U.S. Embassy, Consulate, or any U.S. Representation of any sort in Benghazi, Libya?

Am not familiar with Jim Stone, Freelance Journalist, but wanted to provide a recent article which he wrote regarding there not being any U.S. Embassy or consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

At first look, based on information provided at http://www.usembassy.gov/ the only one in Libya is Tripoli, more than 600 miles away from Benghazi.

If it wasn't an official consulate...

It may have been a CIA station, and is possibly being referred to as a Consulate as diplomatic cover for CIA activities.

Remember US Diplomatic Missions serve two purposes:

1) Diplomacy

2) Intelligence Gathering

Every US Diplomatic Mission contains a CIA Station under diplomatic cover.

Using the Internet Way Back

Using the Internet Way Back Machine, a historical cache of websites, the US embassy Page around 2005, we had no official embassy in Libya.

In 2006 we have a US liaison Office in Tripoli.

http://libya.usembassy.gov/history2.html History of embassies in Libya, the last one was burned down in 1979, and the current one in Tripoli was opened (or began around) in 2005.

All the media outlets called the building in Benghazi an embassy, but according to the step wise procedures our govt took for Tripoli, it leads us to believe they were in the process of making an embassy there while the coals
were still hot from last years conflict.

Of course not, Chris Stevens

Of course not, Chris Stevens was planted there to start "growing" one as soon as Gaddafi was killed.

Lybia Embassy

In other articles they referred to the consulate in Benghazi as a "mission" as usual the story on the News Networks don't get the facts straight. To say the killings never happened needs more proof than Jim Stones assertions one would think.

*

The webpage linked to in the article lists "WEBSITES OF U.S. EMBASSIES, CONSULATES, AND DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS," none of which are listed as being in Benghazi.

Maybe it was a contact or

Maybe it was a contact or safe house of some kind. It has nation building written all over it.

Safe Houses and Consulates

A definite distinction has been made in the government/media complex's narrative between a consulate and a safe house, example:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/revealed-in...

"The US administration is now facing a crisis in Libya. Sensitive documents have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi and the supposedly secret location of the 'safe house' in the city, where the staff had retreated, came under sustained mortar attack. Other such refuges across the country are no longer deemed 'safe'."

I just looked up the same

I just looked up the same thing. Benghazi doesn't have a listing.

Not to get all conspiratorial and all

but isn't this just a little odd?
