France Launches Major Investigation Into GMOs Following Tumor Study

Following the release of a peer-reviewed piece of research linking the consumption of Monsanto’s Roundup-containing GMO crops to tumors and organ damage, the French government is now calling for a health agency investigation. Seeking to analyze the research and potentially ask European authorities to protect human health and abandon the use of GMO crops, France’s Agriculture Minister and others are now sounding the alarm.

The study was the first to ever examine the true effects of lifelong GMO consumption in rats, and was dubbed ”the most thorough research ever published into the health effects of GM food crops and the herbicide Roundup on rats.” Finding an onset of mass tumors and damage to the kidneys and liver, the study has serious implications as to what large-scale GMO consumption is doing to humans. Since a serious lack of serious information has surfaced on the long-term effects of GMO consumption, human consumption of GMOs itself is really a mad scientist experiment on a global scale.

It appears French officials understand the severity of the findings, with Agriculture Minister Stephane Le Foll and others now asking the National Agency for Health Safety to investigate further. Both Le Foll and Social Affairs Minister Marisol Touraine described the decision in a joint statement:

“Depending on ANSES’ opinion, the government will urge the European authorities to take all necessary measures to protect human and animal health,” they said.

When will we learn that we

When will we learn that we have to be responsible for our own welbeing? Fortunately we are now blessed with the internet where we can find out for ourselves about almost everything. Eat organic. GMOs have a way of sneaking in through the back door. Organic food may not be 100% safe, but it is the best we can do--and the more we support it the more awareness will spread. We are well on the way to becoming a huge force. Important also to remember and to publicize: microwave cooking denatures foods. It changes the molecular structure of foods so that they are little different from GMO foods. Also--defend yourself from government additives in the water supply. For example, Fluoride is not really a dental issue, it is a mental health issue affecting the brain in terms of memory loss, moods, etc. I have read that Nazi Germany studied adding Fluoride to drinking water as a way of keeping the masses calm and pliable. Many people I know keep office-style natural mineral water dispensers in their houses for all drinking and cooking, using tap water only for washing up, bathing, etc.

Something to think about

I have a few observations/questions.

1. This study was published in 2009. What has been done since then?
2. I'm fairly certain, more research is needed to prove, but this particular corn is not cleared for human consumption, but it is fed to animals that us humans eat. The research that is needed is what happens when humans eat the animal that eats this corn.
3. Why are farmers buying these seeds in the first place?

Why would Monsanto ever want to do test on lab rats?

They got the best lab handed to them free of charge by our Congress, they have immunity if they screw up and millions die! The FDA, EPA, and Monsanto, have done very little research on GMO's. Why should they? When they have millions of stupid Americans that gladly will become the rat!

I tell all my honey customers about the dangers of GMO's and why my honey has increased 10%. Monsanto and farmers have placed a honey tax on us all. Less bees less honey higher prices. I can't wait to here the complaints when there won't be enough bees to pollinate vegetables for seeds. Higher prices are in our future for seed and food because the bees are disappearing!

And they say bees aren't vegan, Vegetarians may starve with out the bees!

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Hysteria

As always, the weak minded are obsessed with safety the government cannot provide. The tumors are more likely from Folic acid that the government regulations require to add to wheat.

Just consider the past - MSG and sugar substitute were found to cause cancer in rats. The government forced the warning on the label. But the research was bogus - no effect on rats or human. Affirmative-action quality scientists compete desperately for government grants. Hysteria is their main tool.

Consider bogus research about vitamin C in cabbage, margarine scare, butter scare, red meat scare. Sure, everything in excess is bad.

After public smoking is out in USA, the number of lung cancer in women is still the same....

Of course we don't need the government to

provide safety. That is missing the point. Mega-corporations like Monsanto are favored by federal agencies and courts. They would never be able to violate property rights with their dispersed poisons, never be able to avoid claims for damages, never get such monopoly status and global traction without federal favoritism.

Far from providing safety, it is the government that creates monstrous problems. The solution is staring us in the face: citizen journalists on the free internet are educating their peers by publicizing such articles as this OP. I posted it on F.B., many will re-post.

I downvoted

you so I'll add a reply.

First, I disagree the government can be helpful in enhancing public safety. You just have to differentiate between local versus remote government. States do have the right to impose laws. This is a more local form of government than federal, and the more local the control, the better the quality I believe.

Next, I'm big on natural living/cures. I think it's only obvious and makes sense. When you begin to go unnatural you have to keep in mind that while technology and medicine have advanced mankind is still ignorant of many things. IMO Western medicine/culture is among the worst for approaches to healthful lifestyle and cures.

Maybe..

But you can't compare space rocks to oranges in any scientific way. Not all foods are the same, not all research is the same. The fact is that many things, such as house hold cleaning chemicals are almost never tested for human safety before they get released onto consumers. GMO foods are rarely tested as well. It is good to research these things, if people stopped asking hard questions just imagine what that would lead to? Just put it in context of the topics of this site. Why question the fed for example?

European countries seem to be

European countries seem to be quite bad at capitalism, but they are very good at banning things. so this will help the world.

Clearly the obvious solution

as many here have insisted, is to NOT label GMO foods, and instead wait around for the free market to make it unprofitable, all the while we're doing possibly irrevocable damage to our bodies without even knowing.

The free market always comes first, right guys? Right? Who among you wants to sacrifice the health of your children on the altar of the free market?

They don't have to label GMO food

Assume everything is GMO unless it has a label stating otherwise. I've already run across food labeled as non-GMO. Start demanding it at your local grocery. There's a big market for it and any smart food supplier can take advantage of it.

So you want government to SAVE US??

So you'd rather have the government to come in and save us? Monsanto OWNS the government regulatory agencies, why do you think they got away with selling GMO foods without labeling in the first place.

You have major government institutions telling us the GMO is safe.

We're lulled into complacency.

In a TRUE free market, people would be super carefully what they bought and the source of their food. Since they would not be fooled into thinking "this is OK to buy because the USDA, FDA and state regulators said so".

It's called market regulation.

Either we the people are empowered with knowledge

or we're doomed to unknowingly endanger our health or the health of our children.

Short of the labeling itself being deceptive, there is no reason the consumer should not have this knowledge. If that amounts to the government "saving" us in your eyes, then so be it. How about existing food labels? Should we get rid of those since they're tantamount to the government "saving" us? It's true the FDA is entirely biased towards food producers, and dangerous FDA-approved goods are sold for years at the peril of the consumer before they're recalled, but KNOWLEDGE is never a bad thing, even if it is patchy.

ok... looking for trustworthy seed source

I have been scouting around for non-GMO/non-hybrid seeds to plant a large garden next year but not sure which source to go with. Does anyone have experience with any of the seed banks offering assorted non-GMO/non-hybrid varieties as reasonable prices?

One might wonder if

These multinational corporations are knowingly poisoning us, but care only about their profits

NAH WHO AM I KIDDING THEY WOULD NEVER DO THAT

Crimes Against Humanity

Crimes Against Humanity for profit, especially the Pharmaceutical Corps when millions knowingly will get sick and develop diseases from GMOs.

Plus Monsanto's monopoly over the crop seeds, which require farmers to buy new, rather than replanting the ones they grew after harvest, which they did for generations. Monsanto must be destroyed.
Monsanto also has sterile terminator seeds, that can not be regrown. If farmer caught replanting Monsanto seed without paying they're fined heavy penalties. In India farmers are committing suicides everyday because of this.

Thanks for a bump
