The Party Hearty Party (PHP) officially nominated their candidate for the 2012 presidential race Sept 21, at a booze-soaked rally in Chickasaw, Tennessee.
Leading a conga line through red, white, green, orange, blue, purple, and pink balloons, party chairman Martin 'Party Marty' Hubertson told gathered press that "of the 4 or 5 elections I've witnessed as a member of this party I've never seen a candidate as rockin' as Calvin Coolidge! We can offer the American people a the true alternative to the totally un-rockin' Demoduds and Repud-lickens'.
Mr. Coolidge, of course, was the president of the United States from 1923 to 1929, a period of nearly unbridled partying in America. Known as the 'Roaring Twenties', the period saw amazing amounts of partying with new dance styles, jazz and other new music forms, all broadcast on new 'radios'.
And having served only one and a half terms, taking over midway through Warren Harding's term after he collapsed and died in 1923, Mr. Coolidge is eligible to serve at least 2 more years as president.
"And hey, that's cool", said the Chairman during his opening remarks "We've always thought having elections every 4 years was lame. Who wants to only have a party every 4 years? Let's get the party rolling every week! Who's with me! Let me hear you say 'Ya-ah!'"
