And thus the argument that

And thus the argument that “our” guy will only possess such and such power is left exposed to derision. The imperial presidency is not fleeting; it doesn’t discriminate between parties; it only solidifies, built upon layers of past transgressions and usurpations. Whoever becomes president next, and for all sequential elections, will possess such power, though much enhanced. The drift towards Caesarism presses on, seemingly oblivious to the masses.

Pretty much said the same thing

back in the 2007 debates about "letting the Lawyers figured it out".
That's when Ron Paul hit him (figuratively) over the head with following the Constitution. Unfortunately, it did not leave any lasting impression.

Every president is more pathetic than the last one.

Romney has to demonstrate he will become a bigger traitor in chief than the last guy, to attract billions in donations from establishment megalomaniacs.

I think this is why Romney is more dangerous than Obama.

Alan Keyes nails it.

Romney has all the Bush era

Romney has all the Bush era neocons working in his potential cabinet. If this man wins, we are screwed.

I'm a Republican, but will vote for Obama if needed to keep this scumbag out of office.

What would Gen Smedley Butler say ?

The only people who should vote to go to war is the soldiers. This would end the war profiteering.

and Iran will not need mittwitt's permission to:

-launch strikes on the Saudi Oil fields
-mine the Straits of Hormuz
-sink oil tankers in the Straits of Hormuz
-launch missiles at U.S. Ships in the Med
-instigate attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq and Afghanistan
-launch missiles into Israel
-prompt Hezbolllah to attack targets in Israel
-prompt Hamas to facilitate uprisings in Palestine and the Gaza Strip
-stir up unrest and anti-americanism in Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabi, Lebanon, Bahrain, Pakistan, Indonesia, Syria, Europe, and Southeast Asia
-launch terrorost attacks (real ones) in the U.S, Canada and the U.K.
-draw more support from the 105 non-alliance nations that oppose U.S. intervention
-receive more military support from Russia and China
-strengthen relationships with countries in our southern hemisphere such as Brazil, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and Peru (all who hate us)
-strengthen the BRIC's resolve to abandon the dollar in favor of a basket of curriencies
-strengthen alliances between oil and gas suppliers such as Brazil, Venezuela and Russia (which may be crucial if a wider war breaks out)

Also, mittwitt....Russia and China will not sit back and watch idly. A move on Iran would likely result in Russia and China putting military bases in our southern hemisphere (a foreign policy nightmare)

So, whadda ya gonna do about all this shit mitt?

He is clueless.....

it's the War Powers Act that gives the President the authority to deploy U.S. miltary forces for up to 60 days without Congressional approval.

But only if the nation is under a direct threat of attack. Not to prevent a country from obtaining nuclear weapons which is no threat to us because they have no delivery system capable of reaching our borders.

Romney is a walking abuse of power just waiting to happen!

We must keep him out of office at all costs. I believe it must be the primary goal of our movement right now!

There's nothing to worry about

Romney has George Dubya's neocons advising him on foreign policy. "I'm sure they won't get us involved in any unnecessary wars."

Bullshit liar..

That is what we used to say it college when calling someone out...

I need a gun, 20 acres, a natural gas well, and a creek through my property. I hate to say it, but, living in the city is starting to make me a little uncomfortable...

Impeach Obama and

Prepare to impeach Romney, if by some long shot he "wins", and declares war by military action, usurping a power of Congress, and thus violating the oath of office.

Man, I have no idea how so many people can even remotely consider voting for these guys. Are they totally blind to these encroachments on the foundation of our republic?

Can't a group of war veterans sue for damages stemming from all these illegal wars?

At some point I wish someone

At some point I wish someone would run for President saying these sorts of thing and then win. However, once in office, they would do a complete 180 and reveal themselves to be a libertarian/Paulian trojan horse.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Whether the following fact is fortunate or unfortunate

I'll let you be the judge: Those who intend to implement truth are usually much poorer liars than those who intend to do the opposite.

I think that is what Rand is supposed

to be.

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

I'm running out of synonyms for . . .

monster and tyrant; I'm running out of synonyms for arrogance and pomposity--

egotistical maniac--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I'm confused...

a) Article 1, Section 8 reads, "The Congress shall have Power... To declare War"

b) Obama has initiated war under UN authorization.

c) Romney states that the President NOW holds the power to initiate war without "approval or a special authorization".

If all are true than what determines which takes precedence?

No need to answer. I'm of course being rhetorical.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

ytc's picture

What a dangerous man Mitt is. . .

at least candidate Obm pretended to be against WARs, except for the (disastrous) one against Afghanistan, to get elected ;-(

At the 1 minute 11 second mark Romney says the following:

"I don't believe at this stage therefore if I'm president that we need to have war powers approval or a special authorization for military force. The president has that capacity now."

Can anyone point out to me when the constitution changed regarding that?

Lunacy.... He knows exactly what he's doing....

Trying to impress all the war profiteering vultures in Washington that as president he has no regard for any rules (Constitutional requirements) that might effect their profits.

I'd Love For WeAreChange To Ask Romney About That

I'm sure he'd blow off the question though.

His handlers would deal with that by stepping in and disarming those who dare to confront him about it.

Do you have a press pass?

Have you been approved?

Found another link to the clip and edited the post

Should work again now.

Damn! They yanked that clip in a hurry

I just clicked it again to show it to my wife and it has been removed.
