Jim U. (National delegate) Denied Medical Coverage

As most of you know patriot Jim Uprichard was involved in a motorcycle accident on September 3, 2012 after attending the Republican National Convention and voting for Dr. Ron Paul.

In a recent letter dated September 17, 2012 his insurance company, GEICO, has informed him of the Florida Statute 627.732 defines a motor vehicle as follows:

"Motor vehicle means any self-propelled vehicle with four or more wheels which is of a type both designed and required to be licensed for use on the highway of this state and any trailer or semitrailer designed for use with such vehicle."

Please let all those friends you know who ride a motorcycle of these facts. They probably should use more than caution when traveling to other states that use these laws and spending their money in those states. Clearly Jim has a "Declartion" with GEICO with a small amount of coverage for bodily injury which has been denied.

Please consider letting your other bikers know of this and GEICO know as well.

Jim has had an amazing recovery. At this point the doctors he is seeing are pretty involved with nutritional healing and therapies. They have stated he is about one year and a half out from memory recovery. Jim's bruises and fractures seem to be healing rapidly with good quality food, nutrition, prayers, and healing energy. Jim will need physical therapy for his arm and shoulder, at the very least. Jim will be working with painting/coloring to help facilitate with his memory. Jim still has more doctors to follow-up with, but this is the most recent update.

Personally, I believe that it is all the prayers and energy from around the nation and here in Nevada that have helped him the most. This is not to deny the fact that Jim was heavily involved with nutritional supplements prior to the accident.

Thank you and thank you again.

Hey DPers, just wanted to update you on his progress....

Jim stayed with some friends this weekend and he did pretty well, but he is still in a lot of pain, has double vision, and is feeling dizzy. He ate a good dinner with us, but he went to bend over to reach into a bag and he fell back about 4 feet and landed, fortunately on his rear, and did not do anymore damage. He was quite frightened by the event because he was falling to his left side and that is where he has all the broken areas on his body and he could not reach out to catch himself.

Holding a conversation is getting easier daily, but he still gets tired quickly from too much conversation. He had a long talk with his cousin today and went in to take a nap soon after. We have appointments set up with the nurse and physical therapist for the a.m.

I know that we are truly witnessing a miracle with his recovery. The nurse came the other day and she said that she has seen people with these type of brain injuries and in 6 months cannot follow directions the way that he is.

I hope you will all continue to pray and donate anything that you can to support his recovery. The visits are very expensive, we are still trying for the VA, but at this point it has not happened yet.

Thank you.

Update today....

Just wanted to update you on Jim. He is resting right now and he does this alot. This past week he had some memories which will help a great deal with getting the necessary forms to the VA. Hopefully it will be soon and we will make some progress. I faxed info again today. We were also able to sit down and go over the enormous hospital bill and radiology bills. This was a little difficult, but we got it handled.

I found out where his bike is located and talked to the repair shop. Not sure of the prognosis at this point, it is 50/50?? It should be at the shop for at least a month and a half if it is repairable.

I have Jim an appointment this Wednesday that is covered and next Wednesday that is also covered. I should be getting a phone call back today regarding him some occupational therapy and Jim may need assistance with those appointments. I am not sure at this point.

I had terrible pain on Thursday and Friday of last week with kidney stones and was very close to going to the hospital myself. If it was not for Jim and my child sleeping I would have went in the middle of the night....PAINFUL and very tireing.Thank you jday, I think it helped.

Things are going well at this point. We may need to reevaluate our role here in the next two weeks. If anyone is willing to assist with anything please email me privately and I will let you know what we need, or what you might offer and how we can get it to Jim. So far Jim's pain level has decreased a bit. He says it takes him an hour just to brush his teeth, but he is doing better than that. It probably seems like things take a lot longer for him. I asked him about doing an update on the dailypaul and he said he would like to do that, but again he tires very easily. We will try to get to it later today.

I think he was happy with the progress we made today, the busiest day yet without aggravation and relatively lower pain. The focus was much better today than it has been. His vision is still very blurred and he closes his eyes a lot. It is much better to have softer voices and only one person talking at a time. I have loaned him a pair of sunglasses as he could not find any at his home (?)

Thank you from me and my family for all the assistance for Jim. We appreciate it and I know Jim does as well. He says hello.

Please continue to pray for Jim's recovery, he has come a long way, but as the doctor's have stated he has a long way to go.

You have to buy motorcycle

You have to buy motorcycle insurance to be covered in a motorcycle accident. However, if his accident involved someone hitting him, their insurance should cover injuries. Otherwise, his own health insurance should cover any medical care he needs. If he has no health insurance, and he can't work, then he needs to apply for medicaid.

Doesn't anyone here

work in the insurance industry?

I'm actually wondering if Jim is better off just being indigent & not being responsible for any bills....

We need someone on this

who works in the insurance industry. Is there anyone who could help with their inside knowledge?

I think I may have a name of someone, I just have to find it,

they are RP as well....wish me luck!!

Thanks for all of your assistance.

This is so upsetting.

Darn,Jim is such a wonderful guy and everyone loves him and his great smile. I am pleased by his recovery process but sad about this new problem.

He is still not out of the woods though! Making great strides,

but they say 1 year and a half for his memory to be restored. I think we are witnessing a miracle and this will not be the case, BUT....

He is doing well, but in a lot of pain. Thank God it has lessened, I am getting him to a great doctor this evening for some helpful therapy.

I learned years ago:

I always learn things the hard way.
In MD. there is no Personal Injury Protection for motorcyclist.
So my brother and I keep our bikes in each others name. The insurance than would have to cover you if you on someone else's motor.
In this way, PIP doesn't matter because the law says you have to have PI on other people, but you can't get it on yourself.
Works for us anyway.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government

WOW! Amazing that this is what we have to end up doing to

protect ourselves. It is like the gal I knew that had a thriving business and had to shut it down, lost her home, and was on welfare once her husband got cancer. They were married for more than 23 years and the entire thing caused so much stress they ended in divorce. It would have been better to divorce in the first place and put the home and business in her name.

Jim is getting better, BUT.... his memory is at about 3 minutes. His shoulder pain is pretty extreme at times, but we can work on pain management and it helps quite a bit.

I recently recived his first hospital bill.... OMG.... I will be needing to chat with everyone on steps to take next.

I have seen a lot:

And the fun isn't over yet.
I have lost everything twice.
Long story, but now that I am an older man with pieces missing, heh heh heh
I have seen those bills. It's pretty scary.
I hope you don't let it all wear you out.
I also hope he does real well in his recovery.
All I can say for the moment is, welcome to your new normal.
It's what makes us who we are.
Now that my youngest is of age, all I want to do is go riding again.
I gave it up because I knew I was very needed and didn't want to risk not being around for those that counted on me. It may sound strange, but I would mind going doing something I love with great passion.
But I think I will do my best to hang around a while to fight for liberty.

I am going to talk to Jim today about sending $50 per month to

the $92,000 owed thus far. I mean if that is all you can afford what else can you do?

He may be up for it and he may not be. Each day we are not sure what he will be up for. He remembered the ship he was on during Vietnam the other day, that is something....

One day he did not know who he was, where he was, why he was, but he seems a little better every day. Needs a lot more help though.

Tell whoever his caretaker is

Tell whoever his caretaker is to set up another Chip-in event. The older one expired and Jim is a patriot and individual in need.

Southern Agrarian

We got this set up today to go directly to Jim's paypal

Any assistance with spreading this info around would be greatly appreciated.

Jim cannot remember any of his passwords. He is remembering

everyday, like he just remembered the name of the ship he was on in Vietnam. So, the plan is to start another chip-in that will go directly to his account very soon. His hospital bill is out of this world and he will need about 1 year and a half of therapies, (so they say, they also thought he was 50 years old) He is doing better all of the time. BUT, needs much much more.

Jim, it has been a true blessing working with you all of these

years with the grassroots and Ron Paul.

Get well soon!!

Come on dailypaul, help battle Geico and all those corporate cronies!

Take these www.3StepsTowardFreedom.com to assist Ron Paul in becoming our next Commander In Chief. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-480OMya3U

Please inform others about this nonsense.

Get WELL Jim, we love you!!

this is a travesty, I think they are trying to find a loophole

to get out of taking care of him. Geico is another part of corporatism. We need to stop supporting all of them. spend a little more money and support small local business. unfortunately with regards to insurance this seems impossible.

Jim take care buddy. The progress you are making is nothing short of a miracle. You will need the continued prayers for your quick recovery. I know you have a long road ahead of you, but you are in excellent care. 4Constitution deserves everybodys thanks, not just for what that person is doing for Jim, but for the past efforts of Ron Paul's campaign. We need more people like 4Constitution around. Thank you.

Get Well Jim!!

Call your representatives and ask them to get on board with the Audit of the Federal Reserve.

Motorcycles have separate

Motorcycles have separate insurance. Geico offers motorcycle insurance too and anyone who rides should have their bike insured anyway.

This is the bikes insurance. He had a coverage of medical

with the bike. They are denying personal injury to Jim, not to the bike, eventhough he had the coverage of medical.

That is true. I thought that maybe when I was reading that I

posted something incorrectly, BUT you get it. He has insurance and it says it covers the bike as well as medical.

They have sent the letter stating the motorcycle does not meet the requirements of a definition of "motorvehicle". "Therefore, you are not eligible for Personal Injury Protection." Maybe I should add this to the top post.

Thank you.

Get WELL Jim!!

someone posted back from the meetup that this should be added

on twitter so Geico will be held accountable. Any thoughts?

Do you sometimes get the feeling we are all bound up in one big scam? What a shame and a hoax on the American people...and to think one can still go insurance poor. Gosh only knows what Obamacare will do if it is put in full place.

Everyone should ban Geico. This needs to be known and foght against.

Thanx 4Constitution 4 all you are doing to assist Jim with his

It is a challenge, but at the same time it has been wonderous!

Jim's going from being on a resporator and them contacting the next of kin, to where he is now is a true testament to how working together can really assist in a person's healing. We have all worked in one way or another. The prayers, the donations, the healing food, the healing doctors have ALL assisted Jim. We need more of the same to get him to a full recovery and things like this GEICO crap are not helpful, but I do not want to spend a ton of time on the negative. I hope others will inform others so this will NEVER happened to another person. What the hell is insurance for? I get it all the time with where I am, if you turn in a claim they want to cancel or raise your rates to recoup their money. A SCAM!! But, in this state you cannot drive without it. AS with OBAMACARE you will not be able to breathe without it!!

Inform others, this is wrong.

Get WELL Jim, we love you!

I know that most people should take your lead and pitch in to

help the way you have. I think if they did than the pressure on each person would be less. People should not be giving you grief, they should be pitching in to assist Jim who is in need. Hope you enjoy the food we brought over.
