They commissioned the USS Fort Worth today in TX-14, Guess who was no where to be found?

Thats right!
Ron Paul was not there and was not scheduled to be there.
Wonder why???lol
It's in Port of Galveston, in the heart of his district...

On a different note, guess what else was no where to be seen?
Not one American flag on the entire ship for its commencement.
The closest American flag was flying high over the restaurant the Destroyer was parked in front of but not ONE single flag on the entire ship! Not ONE!
They had all these weird flags, red and yellow, some were checkered like at a race, but not one American flag.
The ceremony could have been in any city around the world, to look, one would never know it was American.

See for your self. Its front page.

It would be nice if someone created an acct and went into the comment section and asked where is the peaceful Tx-14 congressman
and where is The American FLAG. All the Neos read this paper.
Push their filth in their face by asking where is our flag.
I cant do it for reasons I cant say, otherwise I WOULD!!

This newspaper hates Dr. Paul and is in his district, as Texas' oldest newspaper. They never report on him, oh yea except if its negative!!
I wonder if Jimmy Vaughn would have given this paper a sit down interview the other day, if he knew how the paper had treated Ron Paul for 30+ years?
I think he would have spit on them.

Wake up sir, the world is not your team vs ours.

No Flags Before Commisioning

The act of raising the American Flag during the commisioning ceremony is the first "official" order from the captin to the XO.

That is how I have always seen it done.

Makes sense thanks. Im not as mad now!

"OH NO! He has a SON?" Neoconservatives and Liberals EVERYWHERE!

A marker at Pier 21 pays tribute to the first Navy of the Republic of Texas in 1835. No mention of the US flag, Mark Twain or other American icons.

U.S. Rep. Kay Granger, R-Fort Worth, the sponsor of the ship attended the ceremony.

Neither was a US flag shown flying over Disney's ship, Magic.

The 2,700-passenger Disney Magic departed Saturday night on the first of 12 scheduled seven-night cruises to the Western Caribbean. Ports of call include Grand Cayman and Mexico’s Costa Maya and Cozumel.

The 11-deck, 964-foot Disney Magic first sailed in 1998.

Five cruise ships — some seasonal and some year-round — will be sailing from Galveston by the end of the year. Along with Disney Magic, the other ships are Carnival Cruise Lines’ Magic and Triumph; Royal Caribbean International’s Mariner of the Seas; and Prince Cruises’ Crown Princess, which will begin sailing from the island Dec. 22.
No mention of what colorful flags these ships would fly.

Cruise Ship Flags of

Cruise Ship Flags of Registry.

Flag: The merchant ensign of the Bahamas is prominent.

At one time, passenger ships were registered in their country of operation, but those days are long gone. As far back as 1922, William Harriman registered the ex-German Reliance and Resolute under the flag of Panama and, among other things, operated world cruises with them. The chief reason for doing this was to avoid Prohibition as these two ships were at the time American-owned.

In 1948, Edward Stettinius, former Secretary of State under President Franklin D Roosevelt, founded the Liberian registry. Later followed others such as the Bahamian and Bermudian registers and more recently, Malta and Portugal. Meanwhile, a number of countries, particularly Italy and the Netherlands, have seen cruise ships return to their native registries. To-day, for something a little different, we have a look at cruise ship flags if registry.

This chart shows numbers cruise ships & their registered country flag. http://thecruisepeople.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/flags2.jpg

Cunard Drops Union Jack to Avoid British Labor Laws
October 20, 2011 http://www.cruiselawnews.com/articles/flags-of-convenience-1/

Cunard's three cruise ships, Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, will no longer fly the Union Jack.

After 171 years of flying the Union Jack with Southampton painted on the stern, Cunard's cruise ships will now be registered in Bermuda and will bear the name Hamilton - Bermuda's capital.

U.S. shipyards now build only 1 percent of the world's large commercial vessels.

There is now a bill (article written 2011) which has been introduced to amend the law to allow foreign-flag cruise ships to operate in the coast wise trade of the United States. It was introduced by Representative Blake Farenthold (R-TX) and co-sponsored by Ron Paul. Representative Farenhold believes that opening up coastal trade to all cruise ships will result in more cruise ships sailing from one US port to another and the US and Texas would benefit economically.

If you are going on a cruise, here is a site to see. They record information on cruise ships: owner, captain, registry, insurance, etc. http://www.shipcruise.org/cruise-articles/
