Sorry Ryan, but a Vote for Romney is a Vote Against Rand Paul in 2016

People like to say “a vote for anyone other than Romney, is a vote for Obama”. I’d like to say that a vote for Romney, is a vote against Rand Paul in 2016.

For those in the Liberty movement thinking of playing the “lesser of two evils” game, which tends to be the Rand Paul supporters of the Liberty movement, let me remind you that you’re hurting Rand’s chance at the White House. If Romney wins, Rand will not challenge Romney in 2016. He’s worked too hard to win favor with the party, to risk it all with a long shot mid-term challenge.

So if Romney wins, Rand will not run till 2020. Now imagine if Romney is as bad as Bush after two terms? It will be hard convincing the country that any Republican is good for them in 2020.

Who Cares

About Rand Paul. He is damaged goods. Political Ambition and Political Principles are mutually exclusive character traits. They are a zero sum game. He's already demonstrated, in spades, which side of the argument he has staked out.

He watched his father for 30 years. If it were not for Rand he would not have held up the Senate over foreign aid and called his colleagues out.

I trust Rand because of his actions. He defends our liberties. He plays the political game much better than his father. Ron Paul has even admitted that he does not like to play the political game.

I hope and pray that he has learned from his father and comes out on top.

yeah i dont fall for this..

yeah i dont fall for this.. oh this election is the most important ever and if Obama wins we will so more worse off than with mitt... the most important election of my life was supposed to be the 08 election... and they probably say every election is the biggest election in our lives

B...b...but I was told 04 was the most important! Ok I think someone just might be lying! lol Seriously, you are right Brixey. They use this statement to justify telling us to hold our nose and vote the lesser of two evils. As long as people fall for it, they will keep using it. (actually I think the most important may have been 1988, but nobody knew it at the time.)

If Obama wins, this is the way it will unfold

The dinosaur Establishment Republican Party will be discredited once and for all.

The independent populist Tea Party Movement will rise again in a very vocal way.

Conservative states will have no reason not to oppose federal mandates. Nullification will be in the air.

The alternative media will grow as an opposition voice, diminishing the power of the corporate media even further.

The Liberty Movement will continue to grow from the ground up and will find common ground with constitutional conservatives in the Tea Party Movement and even some reasonable reformers from the Occupy Movement.

As the economy continues to decline, the Obama Progressives will be blamed because they will have complete ownership of the mess.

Keynesianism will be discredited as an economic theory.

Calls to end the Federal Reserve System will grow louder.

The warfare state will continue unabated under Obama, which will cause many Americans to realize that Democrats are just as war-like as Republicans.

Independents will have a clear enemy in Obama, a man who is now able to share the animus people feel for him with Governor Romney and the Establishment Republicans.

A third-party movement will take hold as Independents flock from both corrupt parties.

The stage will be set for a Liberty Republican or a populist third party candidate to be elected in 2016.

I don't think you understand.

If Obama wins reelection, the country will have moved so far to the left by 2016 that even if Rand Paul manages to win the Republican nomination, he will lose to the Democratic nominee in the general election.

There is a pretty good chance that Obama would have beaten Ron Paul if Dr. Paul had won the GOP nomination. Ron Paul was polling rather even with Romney against Obama and in many instances was polling WORSE than Romney. The Lamestream media (with the exception of FOX) is 100% behind the Democratic Party. With the Hispanic population growing at 4% PER YEAR, Rand Paul won't stand a chance unless America experiences a massive paradigm shift.

doesn't make sense

if obama administration doesn't fix economy (which they won't) democrats will have a tough time keeping the white house. the only reason obama is gunna win is because the alternative of romney sucks, and won't bring over disenchanted democrats

romney winning gives democrats a very good chance taking back the white house in 4 years and certainly we won't have a constitution respecting president for at least 8 years...

so original post is right: a vote for romney is a vote against a paul president

if romney wins we have to take the liberty movement to 3rd party, so might as wall start this year by voting 3rd party (or write in Paul)

I'm not even going to comment on that third party nonsense.

I'll never EVER vote for a third party candidate for president. No third party candidate will EVER become president.

But, a lot of former Ron Paul supporters are claiming that the economy will tank in the next four years and Rand Paul will be able to pull over disenchanted democrats and become president in 2016. I don't think the economy is going to get any worse in the next four years. There's an automobile and student loan bubble being built up right now that will last at least five years, maybe eight. The economy is slowly getting better. The reason Obama is dong good in places like Virginia, Wisconsin, and Ohio is mainly because those states elected Republican governors and legislators in 2010 who have enacted pro-growth policies and the voters are crediting Obama for it. I suspect unemployment will be down below 6% by 2016, giving the Democratic nominee an easy victory by running on Obama's i.e. Bernanke's "accomplishments.

I won't comment either

Hell we can't even get a second party to vote for much less a third!

George Washington

Historically, George Washington was the only president elected as an independent, as he was not formally affiliated with any party during his two terms.

This post is 100% correct.

This post is 100% correct. Too many getting various checks and welfare from the gov. 95% of them won't vote against their pocketbook. Rand won't be able to win a general unless some terrible fiscal stuff happens in between now and then, and people wake the hell up. I'm not holding my breath. Also there have been multiple posts on it, but they never recieve much attention, but nearly all immigrants that arrive here vote with Socialist tendencies. So that is against us as well.

While am a Ron Paul supporter

While am a Ron Paul supporter and he is only one i believe our founders would approve of and accept into the fold out of the three men, i listened to and watched Rand Paul's videos on youtube where she speaks out about the Social security problem and how to fix it. Our foreign policy and why it has been such a failure. He gives cold, hard facts. Most of those in congress know it would be political suicide to speak out against cutting back on funds for some entitlement programs while removing other programs. I believe the age for retires receiving Social Security will have to be raised again. There will have to be restructuring. How long does our congress plan to wait before they act?

Rand is one of us, but he is

Rand is one of us, but he is still yet to inspire me anywhere near the way I am inspired by Ron Paul.

I'm still hoping that Dr. Paul runs again in 2016. If not Dr. Paul, I'd like to see his preferred running mate Judge Andrew Napolitano enter the race in 2016.

The beauty of Rand is that he

The beauty of Rand is that he is one of us, BUT he appeals to neocons.

Vote libertarian!

The best course of action is to vote for the libertarian candidate Gary Johnson! If we all vote for him, even if it's not enough to win the election he will receive enough votes to qualify the libertarian party as a major player and make it harder to ignore them and keep them out of the debates next time. I believe the two major parties are far too corrupt to ever allow a GOOD candidate to ever get the nomination. So our only chance is to build up a third party. And I think the libertarian party should be that party!

All political parties throughout history were corrupt.

If the Libertarian Party ever becomes anything other than a protest avenue for pot-smokers, IT will become just as corrupt as the other two.

Exactly right OP...

...I find myself in the unpleasant position of cheering on Obama, because I want Rand in 2016. But I can absolve myself of these sins by voting Gary Johnson on election day. : )

NoRomney 2012

anybody but romney for that reason.

If Romney Wins

If Romney wins I think Rand should run in 2016 anyway. All of us already know Romney would be terrible. I have no doubt he'd just pull an Obama and blame everything on his predecessor. Then who would be guilty of failure to lead? Rand 2016, no matter what happens in 2012.

..I'd support him in 2016 regardless, but it would obviously be better/easier not to have to run against a Republican incumbent. You just know that the tribal loyalties of the rank and file party members will get all bent out of shape if Rand challenges a sitting Romney. Romney would practically have to rape somebody in broad daylight on the White House lawn for most Republicans to countenance a challenge in 2016. And then if Rand lost the challenge, I think his reputation within the GOP would be pretty badly damaged, along with his future prospects.

A vote for romney is a vote for giving in to the rnc who broke fingers, dislocated a hip, locked doors, stripped credentials from duly elected delegates, changed rules to oust delegates at will next election, etc.

They will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. They will become polite for November, then mute us and kick us to the curb again.

Granger feels that she took an oath to vote for romney to keep her chair. I wait to see what happens to her come January after they 'use' her to vote for romney in November.

I took no oath, other than the one to myself. I am writing in Ron Paul. rnc, preibus, boehner, mcconnel, etc. can go f&ck themselves.

My sentiments exactly, until the last sentence. We won't be making any kind of a point by writing in Ron Paul in states where it's not counted. The RNC will think we just didn't vote. That's why I'm voting Johnson so they can see how many votes they lost.

They are counted here.

I go to the county and they have the numbers.

When Rand Has Enough of the GOP

Ventura will ask him to be VP or he will stay a Senator trying to change the party from within.

Just a couple of many possibilities from the Magic 8-Ball.

It sucks, I hate it, I know

It sucks, I hate it, I know it, but it needs to happen... I will vote for Obama for Rand.

I heard Obama speak today when Peter Schiff was discussing his latest interview and just the thought of voting for him makes me want to throw up.... But sometimes you got to suck it up.....

Rather than argue with you,

Rather than argue with you, I'll ask a simple question. Do you live in a swing state? If not, there is absolutely no mathematical reason to vote for either Obama or Romney and every reason to vote for a third candidate.

I understand your strategy,

I understand your strategy, but you ought to just sit this one out and keep blood off your hands. Obama will win handily...do the math. Assume the indies and moderates stay home out of disgust - just like us. What is left over but the rank and file of each party where the Ds vastly outnumber the Rs. Case closed and you, my friend, cannot be blamed for supporting any evil.

Romney will lose on his own

Romney will lose on his own merits (LOL) so don't sully your good conscience by voting for Obombya.
