I propose... An alliance!

I propose an alliance between two of the "factions" of the Liberty Movement.

I am a Gary Johnson supporter. Why? I hope to register a large enough percentage of a protest vote for Johnson to send a message. And if by some miracle he gets in the debates, we can position ourselves to win.

However, those who are going to write in Ron Paul? I totally get it. You guys aren't compromising, you're voting for the best man for the job. You don't care what they think, you're voting your heart, through and through.

I think that what you supporters of write in are doing something admirable. You've chosen to go for the best man for the job.

Johnson supporters have chosen to not go with the best man, but with a very good man who has more of a chance of winning. I can understand why you'd reject this, just from the standpoint of purity. I'm going to support Johnson.

But we need to make an alliance between ourselves, because we're supporting liberty candidates. We need to oppose the following three factions:

- the "vote for Romney because he's lesser of two evils" faction
- the "vote for Obama to spite the GOP/because he's lesser of two evils" faction
- the "let's not vote because it'll be rigged anyway" faction

I get it, people are lost and disappointed that we didn't get RP the GOP nomination. But what did we keep saying during the campaign? We kept saying that we weren't going to vote for the lesser of two evils, and that we weren't going to sit idly by.

Let's continue this movement through November and beyond. How? VOTE FOR A LIBERTY CANDIDATE. Either Ron Paul or Gary Johnson.

And Paul and Johnson supporters? Let's stop going for each other's throats for a while in order to combat the three aforementioned ideas, all of which are very dangerous ideas that could jeopardize the future of this movement, this country, and this world. I propose: an alliance.

This is an excellent idea and the best thread yet.

Write-ins don't count

Write-ins is the worst possible move for our movement. It doesn't send a message at all. Write-ins are not counted in Presidential Elections. Why, its because we don't vote for President, but we vote for his/her Electors. As in Electoral College. I'm from Pennsylvania, and we have 20 Electors, for a write-in to work you need to write-in 20 names, but our electronic ballots wont let it. If you don't write-in your Electors, then the write-in vote wont count. So just writing in Ron Paul, doesn't matter what state, the vote wont count.

Voting for a candidate on the ballot, especially a third party will send a message. Just imagine if one of the 3rd partys can get 15+%, that will send shock waves.

No Thank You

Im voting Ron Paul..and if not allowed the option..it will stay blank. I refuse to vote for anything less than FREEDOM

I believe in Hope & Change..I Hope the government will Change
Spindale-Rutherford County-North Carolina

Vote "Other"

I like RP as much as the next guy, but you should know that if/when election results are released all write-ins are listed as 'other'. Nobody except you will know you voted for RP.

Romney/Ryan 2012!!!

Juuuuust had to add that in there. I want Obama and his administration O-U-T OUT! Gary Johnson can't win, Romney can, therefore, my vote goes to Mitt Romney.

No, Romney CAN'T and for a

No, Romney CAN'T and for a multitude of reasons. Why the hell are you even here?

How terribly sad.

How terribly sad.

Happy Libertarian

Swing stater?

I understand the basics of the 'lesser of two evils' argument, but I want to bring up the notion that if you live in a blue state, a vote for Mitt Romeny is a wasted vote.

I'll give you an example: I live in MN. Obama will win, period. If I were to vote for the lesser of two evils, it won't change the fact that Obama will win, so I'm voting for Gary Johnson. I know Gary Johnson won't win either, but at least I will know I'm voting for the person I want to win, rather than the person whom I might prefer but will ultimately show little difference from Obama's policies. Sure, I could write in our buddy Ron, but those don't get counted or reported as anything but 'other'.

Frankly, if you live in a red state, a vote for Mitt Romney is a wasted vote as well. Mitt will win in Texas, period, so there's really no need to waste your vote on him. The only reason a vote for the 'lesser of two evils' makes a difference are in the swing states.

If you live in a swing state, all I can say is vote your conscience.

I agree 100%.

People who don't live in swing states should vote for whomever on the ballot is closest to their political beliefs. People in swing states though, in my opinion should vote for the lesser of two evils that has a chance to win.

That is exactly WHY we are in this mess! Don't vote the state color, vote what YOU WANT. Who gives a fig if a write in does not count? It makes a difference to US. WE voted as WE felt we should. I will never vote any color based on the state I live in. I will vote for MY SELECTION and that's it. If we get enough write ins or empty ballots, some one will take notice at some point. We can not give in like that! This is how we lose our voice! DON'T GIVE IN!!!!

What a ridiculous post!

You make it sound like this Libertarian movement can actually make a difference and that it is anything but a "lightening rod" to defuse public anger at the elite banking oligarchs!

Look, I read G Edward Griffin's book "The Creature from Jeckyll Island" and it was nothing but a complete rip off of Eustice Mullins book ... BUT ... with banker controlled "gold standard" inserted and a dash of Ayn Rand's misguided economic thoughts slipped in too! NOT impressed.

Now I have to read mindless Pollyanna comments like the above!

Look, let's face facts.

The banksters don't CARE about "End the FED", so long as THEY remain in charge of the privatized monopoly of debt application through loans!

Surely that is a given for freedom lovers, no?

The banksters control 99.9% of the gold on the planet as well, so in what way can freedom reign under that yoke of slavery?

Anyway, Freedom is magnitudes more valuable than Liberty. So why are we not called the Freedom Party??

Liberty is merely "shore leave" granted as a "temporary" and "removable" privilege. Therefore "liberty" NOT a "right" !!

I want Freedom, NOT its lame sibling, liberty !!

I just don't want to see the Libertarian movement providing "covering fire" for the banksters !!

If we persist in blindly sticking to a "gold standard" and if we insist on confusing "fiat money" with "privately controlled fiat money", then we are doing the banksters job for them !!

AND ... another thing ... why do I read so little from all you guys about getting ALL money out of politics? There are nearly 4 big pharma lobbyists for every ONE congressman !!

Surely id you are looking of an Alliance, then we can all rally around what I have said here? Or am I sadly mistaken? Hmmm ... I guess I may be!

I don't know if you are drunk, high, or just normally incoherent

but we don't need posters who have been here all of 12 hours calling good posts ridiculous. Quit spamming some site, STFU and maybe learn something.

Free and Brave
or Cradle to Grave
You can't have both

The BEST candidate on the ballot in almost all states is Johnson

I agree with almost everything you stated above.
The fact is that we should rally for Gary Johnson right now because he IS the best candidate on the ballot in almost every state at this time. And a vote for Gary Johnson will make a lasting impression for the liberty movement in general if nothing else. But who knows?
I said the "liberty" movement. Not the TEA party, the republican party, the democratic party, or even the Libertarian party. But the movement for which we all have dedicated so much time and effort.
I understand that some christians take issue with the Gary Johnson position on several heavily POLITICIZED issue like abortion and gay marriage...etc. But please remember that these are divide and rule politicized issues which are according to the constitution to be dealt with on a state level anyway. I am quite sure that is exactly how Gary feels as well being a true constitutionalist. Lets not split hair's over something that probably does not even matter much.
I was a "Ron Paul or not at all" guy myself, and intended to write him in here in Ohio. But lets face reality here folks. That may have been OK had Gary Johnson not moved to the Libertarian ticket where he has managed to gain the ballot access that "could" put him in a position to win even, depending on what transpires. Do I expect it. Not. But it does make things very interesting. IF we all stick together on this.
Are we all going to campaign for Gary as we did for Ron Paul. I don't expect that to happen. But I will and am putting forth some effort to get his name out and inform people to the best of my ability. I see it as my swan song effort for the liberty movement.
And besides...he's moving up. http://www.dailypaul.com/256454/wow-gary-johnson-polling-106...
I expect most people have their minds made up. But consider the reality of what your support for Gary could mean to the momentum for or against our liberty movement. Because to me that is THE most important thing we have at stake in the here and now.

Someone called me and gave me your phone number with

regard to Jim Uprichard. I tried to call once, but with all that has been happening I was not able to get back with you. Here is an update about Nevada National Delegate - So, the doctor's say he is about a year and a half out from gaining his memory back. (They are Ron Paul people and so far they have not charged him). Jim is going to need speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. This is going to be costly. He cannot see correctly, his vision problems are hard for him to explain as he cannot find the appropriate words for his issues. Jim's shoulder and elbow are in the most pain, but they are healing. He was able to get the 22 staples removed and the scarring looks good, no redness or swelling around the incision.

I have been doing a lot of reflexology on Jim's hands and feet and we have been using breathing excercises and color therapy to assist him with managing the pain. We did a math excercise, such as 4+5 and 3+7 and it was quite a challenge for him to accomplish. The doctors have been asking him to recall three thing, such as bird, dog, and cage. He is not able to do that yet. In spelling world frontwards it is no problem, but recalling it backwards he is unable to do.

Your continued prayers for Jim are necessary. I will be updating about the first hospital bill soon.

Thank you, thank you..... the progress has been amazing from being on a ventilator and searching for the next of kin, to all the bruises being healed, long term memory being almost completely restored, and getting some of the memory of the Republican Convention back, we appreciate your thoughts and prayer for this liberty loving patriot.

Ron Paul Suggested an Alliance of all the 3rd parties in 2008

It was awesome and the only jackwad that didn't sign was Bob Barr at the time, but he was a sham of a candidate anyway.

I think Johnson is alright and so is Virgil Goode, but I agree with the poster here that we need to stop the infighting and focus on what's important - Growing the Movement and getting Liberty Movement candidates elected.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Despite the propaganda saying otherwise...Johnson is not for liberty. I am supporting Ron Paul and Virgil Goode. I will no longer compromise my principles.

Gary Johnson cannot win all he can do is take votes away from

Gary Johnson cannot win all he can do is take votes away from Romney or Obama.

Romney has no chance in hell at winning with or without Ron Paul supporters. The RNC shit all over us now is begging for us to come back while telling us to stop being sore losers when we we're cheated thru the beginning middle and end.

Ron Paul is my president!

And I will write him in if I can't I wont vote at all because even if I do vote for Gary Johnson we wont win.

And I'm def not gonna vote for either of the other two criminals.

the plan

that is the plan...take away states with write in Ron Paul, vote any third party and prevent Obama from getting the electoral votes needed.....we need to support liberal third party people like Johnson and the other two...I support Ron Paul and Virgil Goode because I am republican....but we should try to prevent the two parties from getting states

Oh dear

This blind obsession with "I am Republican" or "I am Democrat" ... DO people STILL really believe that ANY of that RED FLAG/BLUE FLAG nonsense is actually real ??

Ever heard of divide and conquer?

You are being played for a fool by the Elites who kill and steal oil from brown people using BOTH red AND blue tax, debt and usury slaves !!

Go to monetary.org for an education

You have a good point

when I say I am Republican.....that really is concerning what I believed over 25 years ago and not what I see now...I probably really am just a conservative christian who is now unable to vote party lines ...so I am independent/

ecorob's picture

i won't vote for the lesser of three evils...

i respect your decision

respect mine!

its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...
Rockin' the FREE world in Tennessee since 1957!
9/11 Truth.

I absolutely like the whole of what you have to say.

So I gave you an upvote because I'm down with your message. However, I also have to admit that I'm getting a little sick of seeing stories on the front page telling me who to vote for. It's the nature of election season I guess, so I don't hold it against you or anyone else. I value everyone's right to say what they're thinking =D

I agree with Ron Paul!!

Gary Johnson: "I think he's so wonderfull.". :-D

I've now got my brand new GJ bumper sticker right next to my RP one on the car! Next to that one is gonna go the Libertarian Party sticker!

Fuck the Republicrats!!! :-)

Great Read!

I love ya man! You got it together!

The Winds of Change!

You know 425, I was expecting a condescending "lets get over it RP supporters", but I was presently surprised. Your alliance I can do!
I will definitely be writing in Ron Paul as he is the best man. I will also be printing and distributing RP 2016 stickers the day after the November election. Romney will experience a crushing defeat and we can begin recovering our liberty the first day of Obama's 2nd term.
We need to expose and rebuke all tyrants in this nation in every branch and at every level of government, local state and federal! We must then throw the usurpers out!

Long Live the American Republic!

RON PAUL is the GOLD STANDARD of politics, his value never changes; it's tied to the CONSTITUTION!

The Lost Science of Money

This post is just SO wrong, on SO many levels, and in SO many ways, that I almost refuse to comment on it.

Just do yourself a HUGE favor and go to monetary.org and don't leave until you have worked out how well "they" have deluded you into supporting the sick bank controlled system that we call de"mock"racy.

The Libertarian movement was funded by the banking cartel !! Wake up

Gold standard is a Trojan Horse that will steal all of your gold !!

Bring it in, but leave usury in place ... and just see how it feels to lose your gold in the "debt drain" cycle to the Elites !!

It's just beyond words.

Read "The Lost Science of Money" and watch the videos of the same name on Youtube !!

I'm writing in Ron Paul

Why? I voted for him in 1988. As an Iowan, I went to the Ames Straw Poll and voted for him. I spent many hours on the phone (hating every minute of it) as the Ron Paul precinct captain before the January caucuses gaining support for Dr. Paul, and got up in front of the caucus crowd and gave the pitch for Dr. Paul (hating every second of it!) which we won with 33% of the vote (Romney was a distant 2nd at 21%). I was a Ron Paul delegate to the county, district and state conventions. I've been a libertarian for as long as I can remember. I donated to Dr. Paul's money bombs until it hurt. I put up 4'x8' yard signs. I talk about libertarian ideas whenever I can. I put out RP brochures at the local post office and library and gave them out whenever I could. I attended county Republican meetings and served on the credentials committee. I do whatever I can, whenever I can, for the freedom movement. I list all of this not to brag, although I'm proud of my efforts, but to say...
...I haven't done all of this just to vote for someone else in the end!

I propose we boycott the election process as illegitimate.

American Elections Are Crooked.

The "anonymous" ballot is a hoax. It is held secret from the public by the government. But it is shared by government officials, who are often Party officials.

If everyone knows but the neighbors. Then we can help our neighbors prove that each election is honest.

Voting by affidavit makes each vote public and notarized by an oath maker with allegiance to the Constitution.

Or perhaps bitVote an analog of bitcoin. One man, one bitVote. You buy the candidate of your choice.

How does one use a corrupted election process to send a message or vote for change.

Free includes debt-free!

If I consider myself anything, it's

a Jeffersonian Republican, therefore, no entangled alliances for me.
I will write in Ron Paul. And so what if it doesn't count because, as we've seen during the primaries, our elections are totally fraudulent. Between the 'losing ballots' and algorithmic vote flipping there's no way in America today we'll get an honest vote count.
That's the fact.
So for you who want to vote gj, go ahead. It makes no sense to me since, as others have pointed out, a Libertarian President will have NO ALLIES in Congress.
Ron Paul, OTOH, is a REPUBLICAN, so as President, he will have fellow Repubs on his side and those GOPpers will look pretty darn hostile in the sheeple's eyes if they DON'T go along with a Republican President. And it's the GOPpers who need to be ousted and/or brought into line.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

Some Nice points...

First I will out myself as voting for GJ.

"our elections are totally fraudulent. Between the 'losing ballots' and algorithmic vote flipping there's no way in America today we'll get an honest vote count."

Absolutely, I totally Agree! Your vote comes down to your personal stand and decision on how you play the un-winnable game.

"a Libertarian President will have NO ALLIES in Congress."

Who cares? Ron Paul had no allies for how long? It is important to fight Washington, but real change will not come from Government mandates, it will come from an educated populous of Liberty advocates. Getting people to vote for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson is more about drawing attention to the ideas and arguments, and less about taking control of this pageant we call an election, or a rigged system we call democracy.

The Libertarian Party is also an Idea, that there could be more then just a two party system. I feel like that's worth promoting.
