Sign Petition to get Gary Johnson in the Debates

Just got this email from the Libertarian Party asking to sign their petition (not a change.org petition) to get Gary Johnson in the debates.

Dear Lover of Liberty,

Are you outraged that the Presidential Debate Commission is excluding ultra-qualified, two-term Governor Gary Johnson from the presidential debates?

Governor Gary Johnson is offering Americans more of what they want than any other candidate: Cut government spending 43% and balance the budget – now – without raising tax revenue. End the failed War on Marijuana - now. Withdraw from Afghanistan - now.

The Presidential Debate Commission wants Americans to see and hear only Big Government Barack Obama and Big Government Mitt Romney – whose near-identical policies will make the dollar worthless, throw our freedoms to the wind, engage in endless, needless war and line the pockets of Special Interests.

Let’s fight back!

Please sign the petition now to include Governor Gary Johnson in the presidential debates with Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

And please send it to everyone you know who wants to see him included. Thank you!

Yours in liberty,

Carla Howell
Executive Director
National Libertarian Party

I think everyone

I highly doubt 5% of the population knows who Gary Johnson is

running for anything go to busy street corner as people walking by
ask them. 1 in 10 will not know who he is or that he is running for any public office.Just ask them who Gary Johnson is and what he is doing? you will see nada zip zilch they will give you a good opportunity to tell them who he is and what he is running for.

Great

How do we know this is from the real Libertarian Party?

If it is, shouldn't there be a link from their web site? I don't like the looks of this.

For what it's worth, I

I received the same email yesterday. I've been on the Lp mailing list for more than 10 years. It's legit.

A broader petition

This one is grassroots, trans-partisan and not associated with any campaign: http://www.change.org/petitions/open-up-the-2012-presidentia...

my friend

Jill Stein should endorse GJ and she would have bigger impact and a position in GJ's presidential administration.

We must form a united front to fight the evil machine.

Having said that I want to see her debate the two Goldman Sachs candidates.

Peace brother!

Sorry

for not getting back here sooner.

Ideally they would be on a ticket together with a synthesis platform. the basics of such a platform would include all the issues libertarians and progressives agree upon and some creative and principled compromises on economic policies which would advance both agendas simultaneously. these might include:

1.) Replacing income corporate taxes with a progressive consumption tax rather than the flat one Johnson is advocating.

2.)Eliminated 21.5% of federal spending and take another 21.5% of the federal budget and send it back to the states in open block grants according to population only and requiring nothing of the states other than full, public and online disclosure of how every penny is spent.

3.)Use the revenues gain from number 1 in the same manner they are used in number 2.

Alas, while both of these candidates talk a great deal about the urgency of the moment, neither of them is willing to do what is necessary to form a temporary coalition to get done any of what needs to be done. We who support them and Ron Paul bear some of the responsibility in this matter as well. Our stubborn self righteousness means that in quest of the perfect, the good will be sacrificed for at least 4 more years.

I'm afraid history will have no mercy on any of us. May God be kinder.

Peace.

IDK

the validity of those change.org petitions. They never seem to have an impact. This one being official from the LP might be different. However every petition I agree with on change.org I sign.

I will sign for Gary Johnson

Keeping the voice of liberty is what it's all about. Getting some Ron Paul philosophy into the main debate is what America needs. I am going to test the petition sign-up right now. It did seem strange to have "petition" spelled in Spanish on the tail end of the link.

I signed.

Whether I vote for him or not, he should be in the debates.

broken?

The petition site keeps telling me to enter my data. I have all of the form filled in.

Anyone else having problems with it?

Mine didn't work the first time either

I went back a couple hours later and it took. I found my name at the bottom of a long list. Keep trying ;)

Gary Johnson vs. 2 Goldman Sachs candidates.
The choice is clear.
