As a Lutheran, I condemn antisemitism

I condemn every aspect of antisemitism. We are all created in God's image, though that image has fallen due to original sin. Because we are God's children, we must love one another as Christ loved us. However, we Christians have fallen into traps of hate. My hero, Martin Luther, did. After advocating treating Jews well and trying to spread the message to them, he was betrayed to the Catholic Church by them. This caused him to be greatly embittered toward Jews, and unfortunately, he became a great and influential to antisemites everywhere.

I agree that calling Luther an antisemite is an anachronism at best. However, eugenicist and hatemongers everywhere have misused his diatribes to empower their positions.

Six million Jews died in the Holocaust. Many more also died under Stalin. Jews and Christians are being killed in the Middle East as our government installs Islamic dictatorships as they over through the moderate secular regimes like Qaddafi's and so on.

I recall an episode of Family Guy where they were taking a tour in Germany. The historical tour left out 1930-1944. The tour guide's response was they were all on vacation. I think that the antisemitic Holocaust deniers on here just think that 6 million Jews went on vacation during the Third Reich.

I am greatly ashamed of this. We need to stand with both Jews and Palestinians because NO ONE wins in war, not even the people who think they will win.

Peace.

Yup

Just keep saying that. Christ saved us on the Cross. I know, I know, some Jewish guy in a backwater province of the Roman Empire being killed in the most humiliating way possible and saving everyone is just to much for some to handle.

Christ saved everyone individually, not collectively. That is why faith is needed.

The Prophets and Kings of Israel and Judah are not 'invisible creatures'. They are witnesses to God's power. Jeremiah was not a fabricated person, but a real man, so was Moses, so was Elijah. Elijah even mocked the prophets of Baal saying much of what you say:

25 Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first, for you are many, and call upon the name of your god, but put no fire to it.” 26 And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made. 27 And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying, “Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.” (1 Kings 18 25-27)

Just keep it up. Maybe one day you will see the light. I am praying for you.

May the LORD bless you and keep you
May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you
May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace

You view biblical scripture as truth

I view it as a work of fiction and I'm still waiting for definitive historical evidence that JC ever existed.

Praying for me only serves your ego.

Right

because reading books is bad. It serves me no ego. The power of prayer got us St Augustine. His mom prayed for him to convert every day even though he was a hedonistic Manchian/atheist. Prayer worked there. It can work for you too. Why are you afraid of someone praying for you.

Also, Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal saying their god was imaginary. Of course, Elijah was awesome, hated in Israel, and actually had to flee many times as he was very unwelcome by the establishment up there, yet his story gets told.

I suppose you believe no one in the Bible ever existed, even though, archeology has proven there was a House of David, there was a split between the two kingdoms, and so on.

Christ was crucified for you. He suffered so you do not have too. Of course my hero was a hobo. I can imagine your heroes are so much better than my ultimate hero Jesus the hobo who died a humiliating death. I can imagine why you think that is ridiculous and want to ridicule me and my faith. Seriously, I do. However, the resurrection is something that is so powerful that it caused his apostles (who admittedly were scared) into becoming martyrs at Roman hands though non-violent defiance.

May the LORD bless you and keep you
May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you
May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace

Lol @ the resurrection story

You'll believe anything if you believe that one which is why the masses are so easy to control.

Quote as much fictional work as you want, I really don't care, just don't ask me to buy into your fictional stories and please keep your ego soothing prayers to yourself.

Nope

I pray for those who despise me. I pray for their well being. Not because I have any ego, only God makes me a good person by Grace alone, but because I am called to by virtue of Charity. Christ called us to bless those who despise us and revile us. I turn the other cheek.

It is funny that you get so uncomfortable about people praying for you. I mean it is just nothing right? Why should you care? I mean you are sounding like the Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate.

One man's fiction is another man's fact. I am sure you alone see the universe in all its objective glory.

To pitiful ole me, the heavens declare the glory of God.

2 Peter 1:16

For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

May the LORD bless you and keep you
May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you
May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace

Yeah well...whatever...

I'm still wondering why Jesus laughed hysterically at the disciples pious proselytizing and chastised them for worshiping the God who made this world as unworthy of their praise.

Oh, that would be right before he sent Judas on his mission of betrayal and before he told Judas of the true nature of himself and the universe...all according to the Gospel of Judas...but then we'd have to believe that of the 30 or so Gospels running around in 180 AD, one "bishop" probably with divine light shining from his nose and ears, narrowed it down to four and claimed Heresey for all others...and then somehow we get "word of god" attached to those four.

Methinks some people don't think....nor open their minds and hearts...you be the judge...or hire someone else for the job.

Time for Timothy 4:3...

Or Diderot:
“Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”
― Denis Diderot

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

John Galt instructed his followers to betray him as well.

Read something sometime.

That's actually pretty funny...

...Instructing me to read something sometime...really funny...

That you exposit some lack of literacy through what I have said leaves me questioning your powers of comprehension. Another reader may have surmised that, not only have I read the Bible, I seem to have read gnostic gospels as well...and maybe even philosophy...including that which espouses objectivism over collective adherence.

You must be a mental giant amongst those who surround you...as you sing in the shower stall.

Now, as to your point concerning Galt...what is it? Then maybe you can ruminate on what it was that Jesus said to Judas when he led him out of earshot of the others present...and after laughing at all for what he apparently saw as misdirected praise of the God who made this world...stunning in its implications...and stunning in its existence...which if you place faith in Irenaeus...you are assured of.

As I pointed out, a man played editor/slasher to 30 or more existing Christian accountings of the Passion Play, and a certain "school of thought and teaching" was demonized...the one that consisted of numerous gospels that pretty much placed the connection to God within...and not through associations with a dogmatic clerical leadership. And one that calls into question the "God who made this world" in contrast to a seemingly different deity that was the true God...but who did not "make this world". And then 130 years later, we have a group of men DECIDING on dogma and debating over whether or not Jesus was also God. One side of the debate lost out and was forbidden by the powers that be...priests. Hmmm...Interesting.

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Heh, gnosticism

The NT is very authenticated about who wrote what.

Oh and violent killing and violating the NAP to kill the king surely is the right thing to do. Hey, when I become a Pastor, you can use my entrails to kill the king you want to so much. I am sure you love to gut me. But hey, the real apostles had much more gory deaths.

Good luck with your intercessionary position priest.

I'll stick with my personal relationship and internal discernment...as intended. And I'll refrain from literal interpretations of metaphor..as should you in your very authenticated self-righteous indignations.

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Fascinating

I will accept your insults with humility.

You know much more than I do.
