The secret to our freedom

Like many here I have become engrossed with the ideas that Ron Paul has championed which has in turn lead me to read about ideas from people like Bastiat, Von Mises & Friedman.

It is like being an explorer and discovering lands that no one could imagine existed as I am constantly excited making new discoveries about ideas that let me see the world from a new and positive perspective.

These ideas are formed on principles that are at their heart about ensuring that all people in this world have the chance to live the life that they desire without influence from others provided that you treat them the same in return.

I am sure that it is because these ideas are based on what is good that I myself have become a better and happier person as a result - thank you Ron Paul!

This I feel is the one key that has allowed so many from such diverse backgrounds to come together as one group - the liberty movement.

Like so many things in life it is not generally the first reaction to a problem that we have that makes the most common sense.

And so it is that the best solution to ensure your own freedom is not to make rules that dictate others how to live their life according to your own values but to work to protect the rights and freedoms of others outside your own social group so that others are free to live as they choose (so that they may fight for your freedoms).

It is in our Human make up that we desire freedom. Most revolutions have been made in the hunger for freedom. It can be seen that this is the driving force that lead to the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320 A.D. written by Scottish nobles demanding their freedom from England as follows;

...for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

We are just following our natural human make up to be free. It is in our favour that all peoples have this natural tenancy and will support us as long as we support them. We must remain conscious of those who would like to divide us as together we are growing stronger.

I have been asking myself a lot of questions lately about where this movement will go in the next few years.

I am sure that we are winning the battle of ideas but my only hope is that we do not forget that mutual freedom between peoples is the rock that this movement is founded on.

I think joy in discovering the concepts

of Liberty which is the flip side of Peace drives most in the movement.

These ideas are constantly influencing each other and opening new areas of thought. I agree that peace & liberty are very closely linked.

Lord Acton, Lord Chief Justice of England, 1875 - "The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the People v. The Banks."
