Is it about Gary, or is it about a 3rd party?

There are 4 registered Republicans in our family, all will be voting for Gary Johnson. We love Ron Paul, we like Gary Johnson, but we are not voting for Gary with an expectation of winning. We are voting for Gary to give a 3rd party some kind of chance, some kind of traction in 2016.

If Gary gets at least 5% of the vote, that means the libs get something like $30-$35 million in matching campaign funds in 2016.

If the 2 party system throws up 2 more clowns in 2016, I want a 3rd party to start to be significant. What if Ron Paul runs in 2016 as a Lib candidate? It would be nice to have him come out of the gate with $30 million.

I am truly a lib, vote your heart, but for those undecided about what they are going to do, I urge all 3rd party voters to come together and make a 3rd choice part of the system. We need to get 5% of the vote.

Ron Paul has been saying for years a 3rd party can't get the money to run. He would have ran 3rd party if this was different, well, we can make it different, otherwise we are scattered just like the other 2 parties want us to be. I hope the undecided can see the bigger picture.

GJ

GJ just like RP wants the states to decide the abortion issue and he mentioned (on Twitter) he would appoint pro life Judge Napolitano to SCOTUS.

roll out the ammo or roll over and die. In 1968, George Wallace actually led Hubert Humphrey early in the race, due to public disgust over what happened at the Democratic Convention and Wallace's segregationist past prevented him from ever effectively running a national campaign. If we strike NOW, with the only realistic alternative to "Obamney," we can win. After all, one of the main reasons third parties could not succeed in the past is because they did not run a slate of candidates and there was no real party machinery. Those who do not hold office in the GOP or are GOP candidates could flood the Libertarian Party with the skills you developed in the Ron Paul campaign. Gary Johnson could actually win the Presidency and Libertarians could capture enough seats in the House and Senate to hold the key to domination. Remember, no other electorate has faced anything such as the NDAA since the Alien and Sedition Acts.

For me it is mostly 3rd

For me it is mostly 3rd party. GJ doesn't quite fit what I'm looking for as president. Only Ron Paul has ever done that for me. But he is a major step forward. It isn't voting for the lesser of two evils when there would actually be progress made under GJ.

However, if you substituted someone else for GJ I wouldn't care. Its more of a 3rd party movement/ sending a message to the GOP

It's about third party.

I think it is more about a third party. People want out of the establishment parties. The Libertarian choice is the one this year. 08', the Constitution party was considered a next choice.

It would seem that those that are "blanks" and the Independents are the key. A third party that catches them, would be the top third party.

Ventura's "No party", a new party, would do that. However, Ventura himself, no matter how much I like him, is not the right guy.

I don't know if the Libertarian party can become thee third party. Some polling of Independents would help. But I think, if the party has already been an established party, that alone might be the deterrent for that block.

It's about de-throning the 2 major corrupt political parties.

And the Libertarians have done the work of getting on every ballot.

Of course, you have to believe in a party's platform (on the whole) to vote for them.

I'm going to cast my vote for the Libertarians this year to send a message - which will actually be counted.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

I Am Glad That You Are Addressing The Correct Problem

I've written this elsewhere and will maintain this position until someone comes up with a better way to look at it.

The enemy is the monopoly. Well meaning people with different ideas are NOT the enemy.

If you were taken to a torture camp and the only person who could help you break out was a totally despicable character, would you stay in the torture camp to avoid "supporting" the goon?

Would you let everyone else rot because the breakout goon was not a clone of your favorite character?

Anyone who can help break the monopoly is a friend to freedom. After the monopoly is cracked, it will still be up to freedom lovers to educate ideas into existence. But the barrier to application will have been removed.

Party platform

I don't agree with the Republican party by a long shot. I am there because that has been where the battle is.

Interesting times.

I have been following the Ron Paul campaign from my home in Australia for the last year and it has opened up my eyes to many truths in this world.

Those people who trolled the Daily Paul with GJ propaganda while the Ron Paul campaign was in full swing are the only misgiving I have against Gary Johnson.

But who is to say that that is what they actually want. Either way it seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face to not vote for Gary Johnson.

He also managed to sum up the situation perfectly at Paulfest and spoke very well of Ron Paul see below;

Its a game of inches and GJ is an inch in the direction we want.

Lord Acton, Lord Chief Justice of England, 1875 - "The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the People v. The Banks."

Very sound logic

and a positive direction for those that would agree.

To Me, Matching Funds Are The Most Compelling Reason To Vote GJ

And yes, imagine if Ron Paul decides to run as a Libertarian in 2016. Those matching funds would come in handy.

Uganda, the tenuous CFR connections, the lack of grounding in the NAP... these issues sort of fade away when you bear in mind that he's not actually going to win.

But giving the Libertarian Party a financial boost will do nothing but help the movement.

I'm going to wait for LibertyAvenger's Q&A before making a final decision: http://www.dailypaul.com/256722/attention-paul-supporters-i-...

Why wait until 2015?

The libs should nominate the ticket in 2013 and give us a running start...

Ron Paul, President
Gary Johnson, Vice President

The doctor doesn't even have to leave his home, we'll do all the work for the first 3 years. This may seem far fetched, but why not?

Writing in Ron Paul is NO PLAN. At least this is some kind of a plan. First, we need 5% of the vote to get the $30 million

I Agree - But It Does Not Seem Possible

It is an absolute must for a third party campaign to get underway the day after the 2012 election, if not sooner. Although the big boys have the money to do everything in one year, it will take a lot longer to put together a successful campaign by others.

But I do not think that we will see Ron Paul start a 2016 campaign this soon. He does not know if he will ever run again and he will not run against his Son. Also, Ron Paul people are taking over Republican spots. Ron Paul's choice is to take over the Republican Party, not replace it.

Here is one way to make it work out...

If someone like Gary Johnson began to run today for 2016 President, promising that he will hold the position for Ron Paul if he wants it, then there will be time to put together a winning campaign team. Gary should be promised VP because he would have spent the time and money to run for four years - around the clock - full time. And, with a great record as governor, Gary Johnson would make a good VP candidate or Presidential candidate, whichever one works out.

I started this topic...

and if I've offended any Ron Paul only supporters I apologize. I've got a lot of fight left in me, and I just can't drop my gloves and be bludgeoned by this no good dirty corrupt system.

If we know we are going to lose Round 3, let's come up with a plan to win Round 6, we just can't accept defeat, this is wrong. Come on everybody, let's brainstorm, let's DO something, anything.

Let's pick ourselves up off the mat and get our second wind. We HAVE to find a way to win.
