Time to boycott Anheuser-Busch and Southwest Airlines

These are the last two remaining sponsors of the Commission on Presidential Debates that sell products or services to the public. Let them know they are sponsoring an organization that is bringing America down by limiting our Democratic choices. The debates should have one limitation, a candidate is on the ballot in enough states to get 270 electoral votes.

Even if you don't like Gary Johnson, this needs to be done. The two-party system is one of the worst things that's been bringing down this nation. Evil vs. Evil will only allow evil to prevail and ruin this country. The Commission on Presidential Debates is at the epicenter of the disaster perpetuating this mess. With the debates on Wednesday, we are at the most critical time to shake everything up. This Commission is only relevant 1 month out of 48. We speak now, or we wait another 47.

If you're interested in the other 5 organizations, it consists of a DC law firm, DC accountant firm, a fund supported by a signer of the PNAC, International Bottled Water Association, and Warren Buffett's son's foundation.

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate your feedback regarding the upcoming Presidential Debates.

Southwest Airlines’ involvement with the upcoming Presidential debates is not aimed at promoting or endorsing any political agenda or candidate. Essentially, our sponsorship consists of us chartering planes between the debates to accommodate the debate staff's travel needs. Our sponsorship does not include travel for any of the candidates or their staff.

After careful review of the CPD’s request for Southwest Airlines involvement in the upcoming debates, our Senior Leaders felt that the core values of Southwest Airlines aligned with the CPD’s mission of providing American Citizens the opportunity to make informed decisions.

We hope to merit your consideration should your travel plans take you to any of the cities we serve.

Sincerely,

Kathleen, Southwest Airlines"

10/3/12 -- starting to smell like stale beer

Dear J,

I'm down with this initiative. I sent my e-mails to both of them. I hope they listen to reason.
We all should do our part, any way we can, to take back America. There are plenty of injustices to fight. This community gives me the strength. Thank you.

Unfortunately...

I already boycott Anheuser-Busch over the quality of their beer.
But with respect to southwest I'm down to stop flyin on their planes.

I endorse and support this

I endorse and support this movement - boycott any and all businesses that participate in the silencing of a Candidate who's polling very well.

My Email

To Whom It May Concern,

I regret to inform you I will no longer be purchasing/drinking Anheuser Busch beers. I will also be encouraging coworkers and classmates (I work in the oilfield and attend classes at a local university) to avoid Anheuser Busch beers. Up until now, I was a big fan of your brand beers, expecially corona and labatt blue. Most of my friends and family also drank labatt blue, but after today they will no longer be purchasing this beer or any other Anheuser Busch beer. The decision to sponsor this week's presidential debate, which is leaving out third party candidate Gary Johnson, is unforgivable. The debate will not offer political discourse without a third party present as the Republicans and Democrats share the same platform. My friends, coworkers and I will be just fine without your brand of beers.

here is the response I got. I emailed and asked them to withdraw their support of the event until Gov Johnson is included.

Anheuser-Busch has been a proud national sponsor of the Commission on Presidential Debates for five consecutive presidential elections – since 1992. We believe the debates are an important part of the political process and provide voters with a wealth of information about the candidates and important issues, and we’re proud to be a part of these events.

We regret you disagree with this, but we appreciate your contacting us with your concerns.

Cheers,

Southwest?

They are joke and treat the workers like crap imo.

I liked Northwest before, they had older planes but their service was much better imo.

I do not know if Northwest is still around.

donvino

Their workers have the best pay and...

benefits in the industry! And have never furloughed anyone (except for two people back in the '70's, who they immediately rehired!) .... they have managed to keep a profitable company through smart management, and all while competing with many airlines who have now become more competitive because of bankruptcy protection... a luxury Southwest does not have (their crime... of course, is not going into bankruptcy!). Rising fuel costs, rising fees, rising taxes on the industry.... all this has been a reality... and their employees have not taken a pay cut, or lost their jobs.... in fact they are constantly hiring people! There is a reason Southwest has become a power player in the industry, and there is a reason Northwest went under.... get your facts straight.

When I Have To Fly -

First I always look to see if Southwest has service to the city I'm heading.

Best airline.

Don't know what's wrong with their corporate arm - they should stay out of the political arena. It will only sully their good name.

“It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie...the greatest enemy of the State.” ~Joseph Goebbels

Agreed...

I do wish they would stay out of the political arena. But perhaps with enough calls, emails, and "twitters" they will get the picture. I know for a fact they are very concerned with what there customers want and think. And have a history of changing to address issues. Hopefully they hear us on this one!

BTW

I did say ...imo...

I still think they are a joke IMO They must be the Schneider National (Trucking) of the airline industry.

They are good at cutting costs, this I will give you. Their planes must be getting older by now, wonder if they will have the resources to maintain an operational fleet?

I would never fly on that 'charter' airline again.

Singapore Airlines has to be one of the best as I recall along with British Airways and Swiss Air.

I flew United before too and found it good. But they were one of the bailout airlines I think.

donvino

I am not up on all the urban lingo...

I have now looked up 'imo'....LOL! Yes Southwest is known as the "Greyhound of the skies".... they are fully aware of this label. It does not bother them, because (unlike the other Airlines)... they were set up as a LOW COST carrier from the beginning. The idea was to give people who would not normally be able to afford to fly... the freedom to fly! It is a "no frills" airline on purpose. They are no longer the cheapest in the industry... this is true (market conditions have made that near impossible), however they do not charge you for your first two checked bags... nor for your carry on! That adds up on a round trip.... so often on another carrier, when you are done with all their other up charges, and bag fees.... you end up paying the same amount or more than you would have on Southwest. Southwests fleet of aircraft are all owned by Southwest (not leased... like other carriers), and the majority of the fleet is now newer than most domestic carriers in the US (with new deliveries from Boeing every month of the 737-800... a beautiful aircraft). They are filtering out all of their older aircraft, with each new delivery... and those older ones are now in the minority. Check out their spreadsheet (nothing to be ashamed of).... they have the 'resources', and then some.
I have heard Singapore is excellent.... but they are not a domestic carrier, and are run through a completely different form of government. Also, it is like comparing a grocery store loaf of bread.... to a french bakery!!! Singapore was set up as a luxury airline... Southwest is not. I have not flown Swiss Air either (another international carrier), however I have heard nothing but complaints about them from friends and family.... mostly about their lack of leg room. (Which BTW Southwest has more leg room than all the others.... unless you are on one of the "older aircraft" that are being filtered out.). As far as 'United' goes.... when you start complementing them over Southwest... it becomes painfully obvious you more than likely had one bad employee, or experience on Southwest.. and judged the entire airline on that one experience (no doubt marching off the aircraft saying "I'll never fly this airline again!") United is the joke I am afraid.... you could not get worse service if you begged for it!!! Their motto (admitted by their own employees) is: "We're not happy, until your unhappy!" Their employees are not just apathetic, they are mean spirited.... and talk about a company treating their employees like crap.... it would be difficult to find much worse! Continental was actually a pretty decent airline until they merged with United...ask any of their employees how the merger has gone... it is anything but a positive response.

I like Southwest just fine. I

I like Southwest just fine. I haven't had any bad flights I can think of off hand, but their sponsorship of the phony-baloney debate is a big mistake on their part.

I don't drink, and it's not likely I'll be flying anytime soon.

So, I guess I do nothing then. ;P

Seriously, I could contact them. But what am I going to say?

"I'm sorry, but unless you drop the debates, I will continue not drinking your beer."

Or something like that?

Contact them

and let them know they should withdraw their financial support to a horrible organization.
