"Brave" Philadelphia Cop Punches Woman in the Face

"Brave" Philadelphia cop punches Lady in the face, bloodies her nose, and then arrests her..

http://youtu.be/sX_6eJ-QJLY

Watch the video again. Someone to the left (not the lady) Throws some water on the cops. A cop turns around and punches the first person he sees in the face. No assessment of the situation, only police brutality.

Welcome to the Police State.

Update: $75K settlement for woman

God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it. – Daniel Webster

So I guess this video could

So I guess this video could be used as evidence to sue the pants off that guy.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

All I see is total decay

The girl is a complete idiot - dancing around - spraying silly string or whatever on cops - taunting and acting the fool. Clearly she has no respect for authority and escalating a situation like this IS a crime and for good reason - that's how riots start and innocent people get hurt.

However - just to one up her stupidity and to show HE is the kink moron on the block - a cop(A Lt. none the less)- doesn't even bother to arrest, detain, warn or anything - he just punches her in the face. Clearly this guy has some anger management issues and it is hard to believe there is not a trail of serious abuse over his "decorated" career.

There are no sides here - only two effin morons stepping on each others toes as they both try to dance the degenerate downfall of society dance.

Congratulations to both of you for having brought society down yet one more notch.

PS- I wish our gas was "only" 3.87 a gallon!!!

I am ashamed of this society.

Nobody stood up for her.

I know this is the age of equality, and rightly so in some respects.
But now women have the equal right to be decked by a man?
Sick, sad and wrong.

Can anybody imagine this happening so openly on the streets in 1950?

Perhaps it did, but there were no camera phones then.

How much more will people take before they realize what is happening here?

It will take a judge or a jury nullification

to have the balls to say "hey - these officers were acting outside the law and those citizens who stood up for her were doing the right thing".

Otherwise you will most likely be beaten half to death by the cops and then thrown in prison for a few years.

true, but

what stinks is that if all of the men in the crowd stood up for her at once, they physically could not arrest them.

The slide towards martial law is only encouraged by complacency and passivity. Not that I advocate violent attacks on the police, because I don't.

But if an entire crowd of men (and women, too, if they want to) began to advance on the police chanting the same thing, there's nothing they could do.

The rubber bullets may come next. But quite frankly, once citizens are being shot (!?) with rubber bullets, the writing is on the wall. Martial law is already here.

Face it.
The fact that a police officer, built like a brick s-house can, in front of dozens, perhaps hundreds of people, simply punch a woman in the face in broad daylight and there is no response from the crowd is chilling.

By the way, perhaps it's time for some of us 'men' to be prepared to be 'beaten half to death by the cops', in order to defend our women! My grandparents (may they rest in peace) would be shocked and ashamed.

What pisses me off!

Is that no one around did or said anything! Those "cops" should have been surrounded by a angry mob. I bet he beats his wife at home, if he has one.

His wife died a horrible accident

she somehow fell down the steps of their one story ranch home.

Just kidding - I have no idea.

In seriousness - what would you have them do? Look what he did to her with no warning and very little provocation. Could you imagine what would happen if someone stepped in - they would most likely be fighting for their life in some hospital bed. These people don't need the DP to open their eyes - they LIVE this crap every day.

lawsuits?

They only end up hurting the residents with higher taxes for higher insurance premiums.

He should just be sent to the bottom of the seniority list for hitting a woman and lose rank for attacking from behind imo. Not that I support public unions or anything but they are here.

He should also do community/household work for the woman. ie. cleaning her house, yard, car, running errands, etc. for a agreed to number of hours and pay for any medical charges plus 20 per cent imo.

Btw, his progress in these duties should be well publicized as well.

Sue the bastids!

Sue the police department. If the department manages to get more tax money because of it (very doubtful), so what? Maybe the voters will get sick of it, and either replace the police commissioner - or move somewhere else.

Bottom of the seniority list? He should be fired and prosecuted for aggravated assault.

Possibly Yes

Yet, I am somewhat lacking the confidence in the idea of the voters taking corrective measures lol

It is good you are more optimistic on this issue :)

p.s. definitely be suspended without pay - what happened before that is quite uncertain???

In the future

the agenda is to get rid of local police, when they are gone then it is the military police. Looks like it is getting pretty close.

Sun Tzu or whatever lol?

To paraphrase, "Always attack a weaker opponent and from behind...it is the safest way." ;)

Well they did it in the old west. ie. shooting people in the back.

Simple staight up assault.

The cop should be charged. Special prosecutor since the local DA will not do it in a thousand years. Get his sorry ass off the job before he can claim a full pension. Let him be personally liable for damages in the civil suit.

Its sad to see

things like this happening almost everyday. I live in a neighborhood full of minorities. Things like this happen often and with no punishment. Most of the time they beat your ass then bring yah in for questioning, mostly asking you to rat out someone who is higher up in the black market. for some this might be a eye opener, for us..its common.

Hitting the wrong person

Ok, so if you watch this video closely. You see the girl walking behind the cops. Then someone off in the crowd throws some water on the cops and some of that water hits the girl to..When the girl gets hit with the water, she turns around to see who threw it, but turns back and noticed the chief was coming towards her... She did absolutely nothing to this man. He was so pissed off by the situation that she got all of this taken out on her... Police officers serve a purpose and that is to serve and protect... Although they do have stress put on them when people do get ignorant, but you have to admit, if they uphold the law... They need to makes sure they are not breaking it too.... I am so sorry that happened to this girl... Who ever caught this on video... Great job...

Police officers serve and protect ...

... the State.

Sorry friedburg

but "Police officers serve a purpose and that is to serve and protect" doesn't apply to people. It only applies to government. The SCOTUS has ruled as much a few times: South v. Maryland in 1856, Bowers v. DeVito in 1982, Castle Rock v. Gonzales in 2005.

The police protect and serve only the state.

Administrative leave, my ass!

This Guy should lose his job & pension! What ever happened to "Protect and Serve".

everytime

something like this happens a lawsuit needs to be filed. The lady should lawyer up and sue for assault. We won't win them all but eventually cities and states and the feds will get tired of the lawsuits. Nobody like being sued. It does matter. Fight back or it will get worse.

I don't get it?!?

Why would the cops care if someone sues? It's the taxpayers on the line not the cops. No matter how many people sue, the cops will still get their ridiculously high salary, vacation pay, and retirement.

no..I am not

talking about suing the city I am talking about suing the cop as an individual as someone that assaulted you...I believe it can be done.

True

But doing nothing surely doesn't help either. I would say suing is better than nothing.

It looks like she sprayed silly string at the cops before

someone else threw the water on them. The GIF can be found here: http://i.imgur.com/y4OAb.gif

The Huffington Post says this occured Sunday, 9/31/2012 during a Puerto Rican Day Parade festivity in Philly:

Sure, she may have been annoying the cops but jesus, sucker punch the lady? That was uncalled for. I think the straw that broke the idiot cops back was the guy with the water bottle though.

9/31?

No such date as 9/31 here on earth.

Some people are also saying it looks like...

she may have been spraying the cops with pepper spray. I guess we'll know in due time.
