Social Security?

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a Federal Benefit Payment.
This isn't a benefit ..... it’s our earned investment income!

Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.

It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.

If you averaged $30K per year over your working life, that's close to $180,000 invested in Social Security.

If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social security ($375/month, including both you and your employers contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you'd have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved!

This is your personal investment.

Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month.

That's almost three times more than today’s average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month,

According to the Social Security Administration (Google it - it’s a fact).

And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you're 98 if you retire at age 65)!

I can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in retirement if

Our government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did.

They took our money and used it elsewhere.

They forgot that it was OUR money they were taking.

They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them.

And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed.

And recently, they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer.

But is it our fault they misused our investments?

And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a benefit, as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they borrowed the money, doesn't mean that our investments were a charity!

Lets take a stand.

We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare.

Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government

Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it.

Here's a novel idea:

Get out of the countries who don't want us there.

Bring our soldiers home and invest some of the $700B+ in giving them new careers building roads and parks,
Teaching our children, creating new technologies, discovering cures for illness.

Then take the rest and begin to pay back Social Security, and call it what it is:

Our Earned Retirement Income!!!!!

"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul

Social Security started in the 1930's under FDR.

When it began the first recipients had paid nothing into it. This meant that it had to be supported by then current contributions. It was and is pure redistribution of income.

The SS Fund represented the surplus between what came in and what was paid out. This surplus was eventually invested in Federal Treasury Bonds. In other words the government was borrowing the surplus and spending it on other programmes.

I believe there was a Supreme Court case that defined the SS contributions as a tax and the payments as a benefit because it is paid out of current cash flow.

Of course it was sold to the people as a kind of retirement savings programme but it never was any such thing. Legally it is what the Supreme Court says it is and that means it is completely under the control of the Administration. They can reduce it or even abolish it without recourse. Those alive today under 30 are the ones most likely to be left high and dry unless there is a dramatic change. This is probably why Dr. Paul proposed allowing anyone 25 or younger to opt out entirely. He knew what was going to happen.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Just give the individual

Just give the individual direct ownership of his/her social security. Only they can touch it and can invest as they wish. This way the government can't steal it.

I hate having to say that to you...

I hate having to say that to you ...

... but if you know where I come from...

Seriously, in all sincerity, with this sort of government that you, in America, have allowed to be in charge :

I suggest you start seeking closure on that matter ... and by that, I mean :

R.I.P.-the-money you've "put" in Social Security (well... not that you had much of a choice anyway).

Such a change of nomenclature IS NEVER COINCIDENTAL OR RANDOM to major advancements in their plans, when socialists feel confident enough to have endoctrinated the masses as was necessary. And whether the relevant processes have been insidiously or more obviously proceeded with, doesn't matter.

Alas, nomenclature changes are mandatory to dilute the meanings of the infamies, and there specifically : THEFT (the main, most common one, in their agendas).

That's actually the very first step for them, past each major milestones.

I am very sorry.

Sincere condolences.

I would much rather

opt out of SS and Medicare, save the 15% myself, and invest it the way I see fit. I did the math when I received my first paycheck years ago and realized I am getting ripped off. If they are able to rip us off now, they will find a way to rip us off in the future.

Only solution is not to give them the means to rip us off. Opt out of the program and take responsibility for ourselves.

I feel for those who have paid into it their whole working lives who are up there in age. Why didn't they question those who held the keys to positions of power? Why did they keep voting for these crooks? In the end, it really is the majority of voters who needs pol's to hold their hand through life.
