HURT: Obama debater: Making Jimmy Carter look awesome

By Charles Hurt | Washington Times

Party like it’s 1980!

Bewildered and lost without his teleprompter, President Obama flailed all around the debate stage last night. He was stuttering, nervous and petulant. It was like he had been called in front of the principal after goofing around for four years and blowing off all his homework.

Not since Jimmy Carter faced Ronald Reagan has the U.S. presidency been so embarrassingly represented in public. Actually, that’s an insult to Jimmy Carter.

The split screen was most devastating. Mitt Romney spoke forthrightly, with carefully studied facts and details at the ready. He looked right at the president and accused him of being miles out of his depth.

Mr. Obama? His eyes were glued to his lectern, looking guilty and angry and impatient with all the vagaries of Democracy. This debate was seriously chafing him.

Talking points don't really

Talking points don't really matter at this point, because that is all they are. Could care less how Mitt or Barack do in their next 3 debates. Mitt is a closet Democrat so wont pull out any real issues anyways.

Southern Agrarian

I just didn't see this as a

I just didn't see this as a Mitt win! They both danced around the truth, but Obama seemed confident and addressed the nation while Mitt spoke to Obama. Mitt seemed flustered at several points, while Obama seemed to me to remain calm and collected. I don't care for either one and think they are both socialists/communists, but I think this meme of Mitt winning the debate is all media manufactured to try to tighten this race up so the media can get more viewers in the last 4 weeks! Did YOU think Mitt mopped the floor with Obama, or is this a media created outcome?

Or this could be a plan of the left to increase turnout! If your guy is predicted to win by 10%, a lot of people will just think, hey, he's got this, I don't need to take off work to go vote! If the media attack Obama and say he's going to lose, this may be an underhanded way to increase turn out for Obama?

I agree

They both lost in my book. But Obama seemed a little more dignified to me. Romney was getting on my last nerve. He didn't shut up when he was suppose to, he always had to get the last word in, and he had more "steps" or "points" than AA meeting. Did anyone count how many times he had 3 points to go over? "My first point is...My second point is...My third point is". Shut up! And the way he'd smile the entire time was just creepy. He seemed so desperate and frantic.

I think there might be ulterior motives as well. All Obama had to do to destroy Mitt was mention the 47. Why did he pass that up?

If ignorance is bliss, Washington DC must be heaven.

I agree that both danced around the truth

and that Obama was cooler. Romney seemed a bit nervous. However, Romney's demeanour was better. Obama made some funny faces or expressions. I thought he looked a bit sour and cold.
