H. R. 6357- To prohibit the extrajudicial killing of United States citizens and for other purposesSubmitted by go213mph on Thu, 10/04/2012 - 19:53
Dennis Kucinich introduced this bill on August 2nd, of this year. You would THINK that a bill which makes it illegal for the President or our Government to KILL US if they happen to be in the mood wouldn't be too difficult to get passed, but so far...it hasn't moved past being introduced and referred to committee.
It's absolutely stunning to me that we have reached a point in this country where a bill like this is actually necessary. I mean seriously...who would have thought we would ever see a bill like this in our lifetime?
I printed out a few copies of the .pdf of this bill the other day and handed them out to a few people I know...after highlighting with a marker some of most incredible sections, like these:
It is the sense of Congress that--
the participation in, or planning of activities, by the United States Government that result in the extrajudicial killing of a United States citizen undermines the rule of law and the moral standing of the United States in the world;
the notion that the constitutional rights of one citizen can be revoked to protect the constitutional rights of other citizens should be rejected;
Prohibition- No one, including the President, may instruct a person acting within the scope of employment with the United States Government or an agent acting on behalf of the United States Government to engage in, or conspire to engage in, the extrajudicial killing of a United States citizen.
EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING- The term ‘extrajudicial killing’--
means a premeditated and intentional use of lethal force against a United States citizen;
* To add insult to injury, the Prognosis by govtrack.us states: This bill has a 0% chance of being enacted.
