This is a great example of how the statists "win" the "debates"

Spitzer comes in and runs of 7, 8, 9, 10 points, moving from one thing to another to another so that people cannot focus on one thought. While he's doing it, he also throws out statements that are not true but because he's hitting so many points and the format of the "debate" us not a real debate, it is hard for most people to follow and they just sort of think it sounds right.

Beck tries to explain things in more detail, not just highlights, but it is hard to do these sorts of topics justice in a couple of minutes, especially if he is responding to a barrage of unrelated points Spitzer just made.

The statists have perfected the art of confusion, and they use this "debate" format as a prime tool. Same thing on TV "talk shows."

The only way to overcome this for anti-statists is either to have someone who is really brilliant at this format (not many are, thought Doug Wead is pretty good), or change the format.

These moderators never demand that people stick to the question asked. That's the main problem. And then neither party can focus the discussion on one thing to deal with it before moving on to another topic.

A good example would be Spitzer's use of unemployment figures withouth a discussion of why those figures: included hiring government employees, omit people who drop out of the labor force, etc.

These sorts of "debates" are only going to be useful to libertarians if the format is conducive to real discussion.

I can't stand

to even listen to Spitzer's blatant authoritarianism. It turns my stomach.

"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty."

Yeah, I get nauseous

Yeah, I get nauseous

I hate to say it but...

Neo-cons are light years ahead of the Austrians when it comes to entertainment.

I've been emailing Peter Schiff and Tom Woods for years to make an Internet show just like this...

A debate show: a real free-market advocate vs. a big government advocate.

I would pay money to watch a show like that.

Get with it, guys.

Hear ye, hear ye! John Adams vs Contender, Tom Jefferson!
