Wife thinks I'm losing it...

Sometimes I wish I had just taken the blue pill and can go back inside the Matrix. My wife and I are at odds over quite a few issues lately...GMO foods is the latest. After the French gmo rat study...I don't want the kids near the stuff. This is causing all kinds of friction over sodas, eating out, etc. The argument last night was over Halloween and the HFCS in the candy I don't want the kids eating.

She thinks I'm losing it and have turned into the most UNfun person around. Maybe she's right.

GMO, Chemtrails, Agenda 21, 9-11, coming dollar and financial collapse, etc, etc, etc,....it just never seems to stop. This rabbit hole I'm in seems to be a bottomless pit.

I think you mean

once you take the "red" pill you can never go back.

The blue pill is the sleeping pill...just like Ambien is.

Ah, ok. Haven't actually seen

Ah, ok. Haven't actually seen the movie in years.

Say hello to your wife for me,

I am a 58 year old woman, who raised 6 children, and now have 21 grandchildren. My children, when they were old enough, realized that we were different (ie:made homemade bread with home ground flour, didn't do Halloween, only ate sugar on birthdays (although they thought we should celebrate all the many cousin's birthdays too) and many other things, homeschool, etc.) When they grew up, they all thanked me. After the first two being immunized, and being sick their early childhood a lot, the last four were never immunized and were rarely ever sick. None of the grandchildren are immunized, and they are the healthiest bunch. Beg her not to feed the children gmo and hfcs, as I have seen what it does to other people. (I get ill if I even eat a little).

Don't give up on her. *We*

Don't give up on her. *We* have the advantage now because it's not just one or two questionable things going on anymore..."GMO, Chemtrails, Agenda 21, 9-11, coming dollar and financial collapse, etc, etc, etc..." You said a lot right there. Take your pick. Pick the one issue that she is LESS emotional about and start there. I've found that once a person doubts the official story on any one of these issues, the easier it is to start a discussion on others. You don't have to convince her on any of it in a single day, just stop fighting about it and allow discussion. I'm convinced that even the average person with an iphone shoved up their nose 24/7 and heavily dosed with antidepressants still instinctively knows that things are waaaaay off in this country. Just prepare and keep talking and as things begin to unravel further, she will remember what you've been talking about.
Also, try to have conversations about these matters with someone else besides your wife while she's within earshot. Sometimes difficult topics are better listened to when the listener is not in the hot seat. I promise you that a rational, intelligent conversation going on in the kitchen will be processed in the living room.
Your post makes me want to go home and thank my husband for going through this process with me and not against me. I can't imagine what life would have been like this past year fighting with him every day.
Best of luck to you.

Ditto

My wife gets upset when I try to talk to here about "matters of the world". She is aware of it, but just can't handle it. She will listen to me for a bit, then just get a bit nuts with me about it.

I decided to stop being the food and exercise nazi in my house. I have a much better relationship with my family now:-)

I'm Glad to Hear It

I've been decrying HFCS for almost 20 years, even before it was GMO, and it's great that it's becoming mainstream, because that means, as a consumer, I will have more options as producers move away from it.

Corn is what farmers feed horses, cattle, and pigs to make them fat. It works great.

HFCS is corn-magnified, and GMO corn is, apparently, poison.

You can blame Congress for putting a tariff on sugar and subsidizing corn.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I have no idea what to say

I have no idea what to say about your wife. My husband passed and I could see us not agreeing on some of these points too.....though he was quite the conspiracy theorist himself and generally he trusted my view on things, especially with the kids. But as far as Halloween, and such.........WHY is Halloween such a big deal to Americans anyway? I despise this holiday. I think it is forced up on us by consumerism and peer pressure to fit in. Why do my children need to eat a bunch of junk food? Why do I need to waste hundreds on costumes, candy, etc... for one freezing night of walking around and collecting sugary crap I don't want them to have anyway? When I think of traditions I want my children to carry on, and that I want to carry on with them, they are more centered around eating dinner together, making dinner together, gardening, and working as a unit. Spending time together, learning sports together. On and on the list goes. What good traits/traditions is Halloween passing down through history?

Red pill Blue pill

I hear about this all the time and I have to say I have never seen the Matrix. Can someone give it to me in a nut shell whats with the red and bue pills or do you have to watch the movie to get it ?

Thanks

Red pill and Neo will see the world as it truly is...run by the programs/machines who feed off the humans. The blue pill keeps him as one of the sheeple and totally unaware of what is really happening..

One pill wakes you up to the

One pill wakes you up to the truth and makes it possible for you to "see" the truth. The other pill makes you forget any/all you have seen and go back to your dream state of ignorance.

Thanks

That clear's things up.

You've received a lot of good avice

I think being a great parent is when you can have fun with your kids, give them room to grow, experience life, candy, make learning FUN with you.

Life is so short, stuff happens.. and so our good memories become precious. That's what you want to give your kids, and wife.

So let this Halloween be fun.. make healthy treats together, eat them together.. my Dad cut up an orange, carved teeth in the peal and wore thm like false teeth, so we all ate oranges. Carve apples like pumpkins.. make fruit sculptures... you can use raisens, dried fruit, fruit rollups to decorate.. instead of Mr. Potato head.. make Mr. Pear head.

Have fun with costumes, decorating the house..

And don't forget to show your wife how much you LOVE her.. buy her a chocolate bar and say, "You're right and that's why I LOVE you!"

Happy Halloween >^..^<

I know exactly where you are

I know exactly where you are coming from. I think I'm listening to, too much Alex Jones. All of this stuff is just plain depressing, but unfortunately it's true. Not really sure what I can do to make myself feel better.

Everything just seems like a lie.... I can't even enjoy an NFL game anymore. All of my friends are always talking about sports, and dancing with stars, and oh, did you see the debate? That kind of stuff.

We must have the same friends

It stinks, doesn't it?

Alex Jones

I don't think it's possible to listen to Tooooo much Alex Jones! You get a liberal (as in wide-ranging general) education on topics as diverse as health, banking, preparedness, 2nd Amendment, civil rights, as well as getting a first-hand scoop from some of the country's bravest, patriot whistle-blowers. And you can get it on radio, internet, tv, or newsprint. Alex is a passionate, bona fide journalist who is at least trying to bring the Truth to the masses. Alex is awesome.

the demand to change the world is not there eit

No...

many of these studies are flawed, and most of Alex Jones' claims about things are wrong. I mean, the man predicts "false flag attacks" practically every freaking week that don't happen!

I don't play, I commission the league.

He's a little eccentric and

He's a little eccentric and blows things out of proportion, but he does report on things the MSM would never touch.

He's got Chem. Trails and GMO food right. IMHO

Max Keizer sp? Report is fun

Max Keizer sp? Report is fun to watch - he gets pretend angry and reports on financial stuff. Put him into play and take out some of the Alex Jones time - nice balence

I see him as an "underground" Glenn Beck...

blowing mildly interesting but flawed theories out of proportion, presenting them as fact, and using fearmongering and divisive tactics to get people to buy into his paranoia and keep giving him pageviews.

no sure why they neg voted

no sure why they neg voted you. you spoke the truth. must be someone on his knee's under alex's desk neg voting you.

There are lots of...

trolls on here who just mindlessly buy every conspiracy theory they hear regardless of facts, context, common sense, or Occam's Razor, and they love to downvote anyone who disagrees with them into oblivion and insult them. Ironically, they're the same people who also a.) complain about the mainstream media shutting down any alternate theories and b.) wonder why they struggle to win people over to their side.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Well... DHS lists him as a

Well... DHS lists him as a domestic terrorist (along with us RP supporters) so I figure he must be doing something right.

If that's the case...

couldn't the government just shut down Infowars? Megaupload got shut down for FAR less serious stuff.

In reality, if anyone in the government actually reads Jones' crap, they probably laugh their ass off at most of it. The real government conspiracies aren't Loose Change, GMO, or chemtrails, people.... it's more like the RNC, Citizens United, and the Fed: hidden in plain sight, with obvious corruption at every turn.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Sometimes, it's how you approach things

first, don't oppose halloween. Take the kids out trick or treating, go through their bags taking all the bad crap out and then start a new tradition with them: make your own chocolate candy with no HFCS! The whole family will probably have more fun in the end.

I once got bogged down with all the crap going on around us and here are two conclusions that I've come to:
#1 - The only reason that you hear about this stuff is because people are waking up and they can't hide it anymore. 20 years ago, all this would have remained hidden. The exposing of this stuff isn't fun, but it's actually a good sign.

#2 - 1 hour going out and helping people (volunteer at a food bank, get politically active, help old people, etc) is worth about 1000 hours of online research time. Be a doer, not sure why but it will make you feel much better.

I AM is all that is. Everything else is malleable.

I LOVE your #2. That was just

I LOVE your #2. That was just a mini wake-up for me! I've spent so much time these past few years doing online research in my spare time, and to echo everyone else, it's gotten to the point where it's so depressing and I have all this information but there's not really anything you can do with it. I was politically active this past year and was a state delegate but there isn't much to do anymore. Just today, my husband & I were talking about how we were wanting to GIVE more, & once a month we'll each donate monetarily to whatever we feel compelled to donate to. I was happy with that, but that still isn't DOING. Thank you so much for the wake up to help myself feel better.

Go Easily But Stand Firm

I spent 25 years in the same boat. She thought I was crazy, usually ignoring me. Then in March of 2007, I learned that Ron Paul was running for president. That day I walked in the house and announced,"Honey, your life has just changed." Since that moment she steadily became more and more aware that what I had been doing and saying was true. Today, she's up on all of it and in many ways, especially the health, nutrition, drug, and GMO issues, she's completely beyond me. Don't give up. Truth will win out and set you free eventually.

Find alternatives to routine

Find alternatives to routine everyday stuff and let the rest fall as it may. It wont kill you to have a pepsi or something when the situation presents itself. It should be ok if the kids want to eat the candy for halloween because that is part of the experience. How does this sound 20 years from now? "I remember my dad taking my halloween candy away when I was a kid. We worked so hard for it."

Take some time to put things into perspective

I think it is great to be aware of what is really going on in the world. However, you can't buy into the fear peddlers wholesale, just like you shouldn't buy into everything the main stream media tells you.

As far back as the Alien and Sedition Acts of the 18th century, government has been trampling on constitutional rights. Bankers were installing puppets and lobbyists into positions of power to control our government from that time too. False flag attacks allowed, endorsed, or actually carried out by parts of our own government have killed American citizens and gotten us into wars for literally centuries. Bankers have profited from those wars since the signing of the constitution. I believe we are in a world of trouble as a nation, but we have been for a long time, and we probably will be for a long time. If you move your familiy to a bunker (literally or figuratively), you might be there for a long time wishing for a more open life.

I have never given my kids sodas at home, so they don't miss it. At home, we drink juice, tea, and water that is either distilled or from a natural spring. I buy a lot of organic and local food. However, we occassionally eat at McDonalds, we roast HFCS-loaded marshmallows while camping, and I let them eat Halloween candy. Are these things bad for us? You bet it is. I think that stuff is poison, but we eat it in moderation. You just have to balance it with healthy living.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

-C. S. Lewis

I'm single....

And I'm wondering if I should even bother getting married to someone that doesn't see my way of politics and health choices, for the kids sake. If I do this, I'm severely limiting my field. I'm probably just going to say F' it and deal with it the best I can.
