Next year's "brightest comet in modern times" to be "once in a civilization" event

As it flares out of the distant Oort Cloud, the newly discovered comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) appears to be heading on a trajectory that could make for one of the most spectacular night-sky events in living memory. Why is this comet expected to be so unique? Two reasons:

Astronomers predict that the comet will pass just 1.16 million miles from the Sun as it swings around its perihelion, or closest approach. (This may seem like a lot, but remember - the Sun is big. If we were to scale the Sun down to the size of Earth, the comet would pass well within the orbits of dozens of satellites.) The close approach will melt enormous amounts of the comet's ice, releasing dust and gas and forming what should be a magnificent tail.

After it loops around the Sun and forms this tail, the comet should then pass relatively close to Earth - not near enough to cause any worry, but close enough to put on a great show. Viewers in the Northern Hemisphere will get the best view as the comet blooms in the weeks approaching Christmas 2013. The comet could grow as bright as the full moon.

Other articles suggest the object could be 15 times brighter

than the moon, but not as bright as the sun.

If so it will be visible during the daytime.

Christmas 2013?

Ugh, that's a long time from now!

If you have ever read "the Cassiopaen Experiment,"

which now publishes "Sign of the Times," channelers claim they were told by "otherwordly intelligences from Cassiopaea" that a huge comet trailing an enormous debris field would pass the earth sometime between 1994 and 2014. The earth would then enter the debris field and our sky would fill with flaming fireballs. These fireballs would strike the planet and largely destroy civilization. According to the "Cassiopaeans," this ensuing "end of civilization" is the reason the powers that be have been constructing large underground bases, created the "Georgia Guidestones" and the sinister art at the Denver Airport, collapsed the world economy and threaten us with endless wars and a police state. Now, recall all of this was channeled in 1994.

By all appearances, things are right on schedule.

This is going to be a great year for skywatchers

There's a meteor that could pass beneath the satellites in earths orbit. first part of 2013.

We have multiple comets due this year as well.
