I met a cop last night. He was an Oath Keeper.

After a night of dancing at the Thirsty Horse Saloon in San Antonio, my friend's friend was rear-ended at a stoplight by a speeding car who fled the scene.

Two cars were apparently racing as they sped towards the stoplight and one rammed right into the back of the girl's car. My friend was following her home. The car then made a u-turn and sped off to the next stoplight where a girl abandoned the car and took off on foot.

I was eating tacos from the parking lot roach coach as I walked back to my car when I received the call from my friend.

I drove across the street to make sure everything was okay (they were startled but okay), and a police officer was already on the scene.

I can't for the life of me remember how I struck up the conversation, but we got to chatting afterwards about big government and Ron Paul, whom he supported. I told him if anything ever went down, he would get sent in to arrest dissenters like me. He replied, "I wouldn't do it."

I said, "You should join Oath Keepers!"

To which he replied, "I am one!"

We stayed chatting awhile on prepping and guns and eventually shook hands a parted ways.

Not all cops are bad, and we should take every opportunity to engage them peacefully and try to educate them if necessary.

I think I'm going to make it a point to talk to cops every chance I get from now on...

Thanks for reading!

Great Job!

Even a car accident can serve a purpose to show the GOOD that's out there. Keep the dialogue going!!!

thanks for sharing

Brings tears to my eyes to hear about true patriots out on the streets.

I've always kind of thought of the police in the same light in-

...in kind of the same light as the Liberty movement, in the sense that the powers that be don't want good people to be involved in either. I always thought it would be a cool thing to get something like a large group of like minded Liberty loving people and all join as a group and take over the police departments. the corruption and criminal behavior of many police departments makes it a hard task for just 1 person to join and make a difference, or frankly even be safe from their fellow corrupt officers. But, if you joined as a group you would have like minded individuals with you to combat the corruption.......kinda like a Free State Project for police departments.

wouldn't work

You would not last one day. The first weed arrest you would have to make would force you to either resign or abandon your principles.

Not only

Is my Sheriff an Oath Keeper, but we have a committee member who is one too.

To me, part of the genius in Ron Paul's Restoring the Republic in the GOP, is that oath keepers have a tendency to be Republican. The mission to restore the Republic in the Republican Party, holding everyone to the loyalty oaths we took to the constitution is brilliant.

There is nothing wrong with

There is nothing wrong with Rons plan. what is wrong is a loyalty oath where you promise to vote for some stooge who will break the constitution every chance he gets. The best thing you could do as a committee person is vote for another candidate to protest the GOP and what they did. But I do not think you are smart enough to figure that out.

Let's get something straight

1. I believe all elections are rigged.

2. There is NO presidential cndidate I could vote for in good conscience.

3. Until we can change the loyalty oath, it's more important to be an oath keeper and use my oath to the party as a juxtaposotion to the constitution, which THE NEW BLOOD IN THE GOP fully intends to hold the GOP accountable to the constitution.

4. The GOP didn't want us. I'm not doing them any favors by staying.. I'm doing what I understood Ron Paul's C4L outlined on how we could make a difference and break this duopoly by getting in and and becomeing the change we want to have.

5. It's not about Romney.. it's about restoring America and the best way to achieve that.

"holding everyone to the

"holding everyone to the loyalty oaths we took to the constitution"

I could use some help with the accountability part. Our Sheriff is big-govt neocon. How to hold him accountable to the Constitution? Any remedies in law?

He signed a loyalty oath

This is what we are learning with C4L and working within Ron Paul rEVOLution.. that we learn the constitution and when acts, bills, resolutions, inniatives deviate, we call them out.. Check this out, it's a great starting point http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2011/06/26/sheriff-mandates-cons...

I think talking to cops about the Constitution and our rights is always a risk, but I still do it! Good for you, keep up the great work!!!

That's all.

What do you think of this? www.theonlinemarket.org

Bump!

Not all cops are bad...my best friend's dad is one and he is good. I don't know if he is an Oathkeeper, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is.

OK, maybe you ran into an exception, but....

We have 3 in our family and wow, are they out there. Smooth, angry, arrogant....Tight little muscles of distrust and arrogance. Surprisingly though, very few seem to notice their charming deception. My husband quit talking anything beyond the weather with these guys, people he grew up with for 38 years. I have heard all 3, seperately, explaining to my children why guns are ONLY for the highly trained, you really "owe it to the state" to be top citizens, and how cops are always, always justified in certain cases where there are shades of gray. I always think biblicaly too, You will know them by their fruit and whew! Some "public servants" fruit could use some humility and truth. I'll give it to them, they have a stressful job. But walking around with a ton of anger and arrogance is an incident waiting to happen. I'm glad you had a good experience, doesn't often happen nowadays, unfortunatly.

I understand what you and Caardvaark are saying...

I understand what you and Caardvaark are saying, and I agree that a lot of evidence makes it clear the police state is WAY out of control.

But I think it's fair and extremely important that we also point when cops do the right thing (their job, whether I agree that policing services are done best by public or private means), to encourage others to follow suit.

Because ultimately, if no one obeys, no one rules...

BUt I still wouldn't trust him. They are trained to lie and gain public trust. This is how they do it. Be very careful if he contacts you again.

Since You asked

The U.S. Supreme Court has recognized that the duties of law enforcement may require limited, officially sanctioned deception in the course of criminal investigations. United States v. Russell, 411 U.S. 423, 434 (1973). (“Criminal activity is such that stealth and strategy are necessary weapons in the arsenal of the police officer.”)

There's plenty more specifics in the police training manuals if you care to look.

"[...] This is also the part where I say "now I know that most cops are good," but I don't. I only know two cops in real life, and they're both badass, but so is anyone I choose to call my friend. [...]

And as for us: record cops. Record them all the time. Record them even if they're not doing anything. Cops are cracking down on this and they're trying to change the laws to make it illegal so they can't be held accountable for breaking the law. They look up your plates every time they're behind you at a stop, even if you haven't done anything, just to check up on you. It's time we started checking up on them."

Awesome

We need to start paying police tips who do good jobs.

Wouldnt hurt to throw some test questions out like "what do you think of Ron Paul?" or "what do you think about victimless crimes?"

very cool...hopefully it will

very cool...hopefully it will catch on among police...
