Andrew Sullivan: Did Obama Just Throw The Entire Election Away?

The Daily Beast: The Pew poll is devastating, just devastating. Before the debate, Obama had a 51 - 43 lead; now, Romney has a 49 - 45 lead. That's a simply unprecedented reversal for a candidate in October. Before Obama had leads on every policy issue and personal characteristic; now Romney leads in almost all of them. Obama's performance gave Romney a 12 point swing! I repeat: a 12 point swing.

Romney's favorables are above Obama's now. Yes, you read that right. Romney's favorables are higher than Obama's right now. That gender gap that was Obama's firewall? Over in one night:

Currently, women are evenly divided (47% Obama, 47% Romney). Last month, Obama led Romney by 18 points (56% to 38%) among women likely voters.

Seriously: has that kind of swing ever happened this late in a campaign? Has any candidate lost 18 points among women voters in one night ever? And we are told that when Obama left the stage that night, he was feeling good. That's terrifying. On every single issue, Obama has instantly plummeted into near-oblivion. He still has some personal advantages over Romney - even though they are all much diminished. Obama still has an edge on Medicare, scores much higher on relating to ordinary people, is ahead on foreign policy, and on being moderate, consistent and honest (only 14 percent of swing voters believe Romney is honest). But on the core issues of the economy and the deficit, Romney is now kicking the president's ass:

I was called yesterday and

I was called yesterday and asked who I was going to vote for. They gave me a choice of just the two. I asked him about my third choice. He said he didn't know of the third choice. I laughed at him and told him to put me down for a write in of Dr. Paul.

yea I saw that poll.

Gotta love those Gary Johnson voters. Latest poll taken in Ohio.

Obama 47%

Romney 44%

Other choice 3% {probably Gary Johnson}

Way to go Gary Johnson voters. Can't wait to see the look on Regis Penises face when he sees those Ohio totals tomorrow.

The only reason Mittens would

The only reason Mittens would ever win the presidential election is because "they" don't want the liberty movement to succeed in 2016.

I don't believe the new polling numbers (entirely)

I think the poll in Ohio a couple of weeks back that put Mitt at 37% with Gary Johnson included, scared the crap out of the establishment. They had to do something to prop up Romney in a hurry. I read somewhere that historically, the biggest swings in polling numbers after a debate was 3-4%. Here we have a 12% swing. Face it, there was no "knock out" blow in the debate. The whole left-right paradigm was starting to unravel and the "one party" system circled the wagons. There was another article I read here on Daily Paul a while back, where some insider claimed that polling numbers can legitimately be changed through the influence of the media. I think the number he claimed was around 20% or so. What were all the media doing after the debate? Even the big liberals were blasting Obama. I think we are witnessing some political engineering by the media if you ask me.

I agree the media

wants to hype this as a very close election. Why? Because it helps there ratings. The last thing they want is that to say this election is already over. Already they are starting to say that the polls are starting to show there is now starting to be a momentum swing BACK to Obama {yea right}.Romney has never managed to lead Obama in any poll for any length of time.I am still predicting a landslide defeat for the Republican party.

2 possibilities and how they

2 possibilities and how they effect the liberty movement: obama means everyone is scared shitless, congress does their job we get another chance in 2016 after johnsons #s look good. Romney means at least 8 more years of the status quo

One world, under government, with power and money for the elite

Bankers know for sure

The Rothschild bankers decide the election. They have betting on both sides since and before Napoleon wars. They backed Germany and England both in the 1st and second world wars as well as us. They win either way. If you want to know what is going on and why and where it started read The Creature from Jeckyll Island a history lesson mainly how the Federal Reserve was started. Also google Left Hook and read the archives. Then you will know the rest of the story.

Ever heard of gov. Alf Landon

neither has anyone else. Gov. Landon was the Republican that ran against FDR in the 1936 election. Even though the polls back then predicted the race to be very close and the economy just as bad, FDR won in the most lopsided election in American history. Alf Landon only one two delegate states. The score was something like 48 FDR to 2 Landon.

It was a wipeout, some scientists use polls to predict an election and I've even heard two college professors saying that Romney will win in a landslide. Even taking states like Ohio and New Mexico in Minnesota.

But I'm going to use history to predict this election. I figure I have just as good of a chance by throwing my sh#t on the wall to see if it anybody else using scientific polls.

Right now we are seeing the 1936 election all over again with Obama winning Roosevelts second term, rather then Hoover{Bush } winning there forth.

Don't believe these hyped polls Romney has already lost this election. He might come close but he has never managed to get more than 191 state electors and never will.

Obama will win Iowa, Ohio,Virginia and Colorado. And maybe even Florida. And once again the Republican Party will be thrown into turmoil for the next 16 years.

Also if you read about the 1936 presidential election you will find something hauntingly familiar as to why A Landon lost the election.

The Republican party failed to receive any support from black voters{sound familier}. This was given as the main reason to the Republican loss of 1936 look it up and bank it Obama has already won this election.

Except there weren't 50 States then.

You can't get clean in a dirty bathtub.

Ok it was 49 to 1.

I was just trying to be nice.

The powers that be

will pick the puppet and put him into office.Who cares about the dog and pony show that is the debate or who is ahead in the polls.

Who cares?

One poll says something completely unbelievable? Wow. Who cares? This is way too stupid to be on the front page of the Daily Paul.

The INtrade Odds still have Obama at more then 2 to 1. Sure Rmoney got some good press lately, but lets not get carried away here. If you think that Mitt will win, wanna bet on it?

The goal is to make sure Romney loses!

My state is hopelessly Obamaland so I'm voting for Johnson.
If you live in Ohio, and the race there seems to be trending toward Romney, I would hold my nose and vote for Obama.

We can't let the establishment candidate win the presidency after what they did to Ron.

That said, the pew poll is the only poll reflecting such a swing. AND it is a national poll.

Vote your the

Vote your the end we will prevail.

Screw that!

Vote for a man of principle... not Obama!

...the bankers and the military complex.

I didn't waste a second of my time watching the debates and I won't bother watching any further ones.

Unless somehow Gary Johnson is allowed in.

We need to continue to pressure the rotten Presidential Debates Commission to let him in.

I'm utterly disgusted with the American political process which has been du-opolized by the 2 major political parties whose only real goal is to keep any other parties OUT.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

I get bombarded with these polls

because I live in a swing state and have a landline for my business. They are totally ridiculous. For example. they always start with,

"who are you voting for (1) obama (2) romney (3) undecided?" No option to choose gary johnson or someone else. So I chose undecided. But I'm not really undecided. I'm voting Gary Johnson. So their poll is already inaccurate before it even started.

The other questions are like "do you think obama's failed policies have made the middle class weaker? (1) strongly agree (2) somewhat agree (3) somewhat disagree (4) strongly disagree."

I can't remember the actual wording, but the questions are framed in a way to assume everybody agrees Obama is already a failure to begin with, etc. In fact, you could argue by the way the questions are worded that the polls are intended more to sway opinion than to calculate opinion. They are a total joke.

If Obama doesn't win

we won't have another chance for a liberty candidate for up to a 16 years... and the establishment knows this.

I find it disgusting that you are putting a future election above the countries fate. I want Ron Paul to be our candidate more than ever... but we aren't fools! If Obama is re-elected there will never be another free election in this country. We know he wants to systematically change this country into something more of his liking... Marxism? His first term was a test bucket, but he was limited... Just wait until he is no longer limited after he is re-elected.

Romney is the status quo, but at least he "IS THE STATUS QUO"!!! Obama wants to destroy everything this country stands for. You and everyone who would rather destroy this country then put in a guy that may actually bring some sanity to bear - is actually part of the problem. Face it... if the primaries were absolutely fair and Ron Paul still lost, you'd still be crying foul, stompin' your feet, and wetting your panties... all the way to doing anything you can to re-elect the dictator-in-chief, Barack Obama.

Will we have a free election

Will we have a free election with Romney? Didn't he already have the rules changed during the primaries for his favor? At least in 2016 we may have another chance while the momentum is still going.

Romney would be worse by far...

Romney is petty and vile and only cares about power and control as proven by his actions during the nomination and at Tampa.

Romney and Ryan are a complete disgrace to everything this country stands for and was built on.

There would be no change with a Romney win and the only thing it would do is serve to invalidate our Movement's power and influence. Romney hates anything that has to do with Liberty or Freedom and would exhaust any resource to destroy the Bill of Rights in the name of "Saftey".

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I think...

the assumption is that the populace will be caught up in the drama surrounding the R team and their current puppet for 8 years followed by the D team and their next puppet for 8 more years.

I think it makes some sense. In any case, I certainly can't see anything good coming from the election of the R puppet in November.

Especially with the rules changes.

That's How Fast the Voters Can Turn

I need to donate more to my candidate so he can run more ads.

No wonder the cowards don't want him to debate.

Maybe Obama will insist he won't debate again unless my candidate is included (hoping it will help him).

What do you think?

The Polls are total B.S.

What matters is who is giving the poll.

What really matters is who is counting the vote, George Soros in Spain!
