I could reduce the 10

I could reduce the 10 commandments down to two though. And as the Buddhist monk said to his disciple, "I do not know what will happen after death"

Jesus said pretty much the same. It is those in power ("Satan") that invent heaven and hell as reward or punishment. We learn it from the time we are tiny children, "Be good and I'll buy you an ice cream, bad and I whip your behind". The early church, after Constantine, gained great power. They did this through turning Jesus' government of taking care of each other through freewill offering and living beside your neighbor instead of trying to control him, into man's government where they established hierarchy, turned Jesus into a magician, and of course as all good Pagan religion do, "Heaven if you obey what we say, hell if you don't". There are certainly many periods when hell was administered long before death...

The Bible is a book about government, anarchy to be more precise, self governance. Men who desire power, such as Emperor Constantine and King James, have strong interest in turning it into another meaningless Mystery Religion with deities, born of unnatural births, walk on water and are able to defy any of natures laws, rebirth, ect ect. By deceiving the people of the true nature of the Bible and creating this supernatural being, they control people. People who understand that the Bible is a book of how to maintain freedom from tyrants are much more difficult to enslave.

In the Bible,

God is a tyrant, and Jesus a socialist.

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.
-Thomas Paine

Fantastic, TRN.

So what version is the best to find out what you are saying? So Jesus was an anarchist? I love it. If he was I would pour through the information. I just don't read that.

Now what about the part where he wants nonbelievers to be brought and slayed in front of him. There are many contradicting pages there but this statement just blows me away. Am I reading the wrong book?

The Bible is rife with

The Bible is rife with blatant mistranslations, and if it has such, then additions and subtraction to the original are also most likely present. Mostly just through mistranslation though the objective is accomplished, along with the Priest who are the authorities telling everyone just exactly what it all means, or at least what they want you to believe it means. Thus is why the following was written, as the same thing had happened in the B.C. Nation of Israel:

"For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith , Behold , the days come , saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not , saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people." Hebrew 8

The first covenant had fault, it was written on paper and therefore open to sophistry, twisting the "word" into something it was not. The people of Judah had returned to Egypt, metaphorically, by creating hierarchy and worshipping a common purse (a golden calf). They had set up a system of mandatory "tithing" (taxation), and a system that today we call "Social Security" to take care of the needy through forced taxation (tithing). Forced taxation, take from(covet) thy neighbor through government force, for one's own benefit. They pretended that they were still following the covenant through sophistry, by twisting around what was written on paper. The New Covenant is no different than the old covenant, the difference is that it was never intended to be written on paper, but to be written in the heart and mind of men.

This is a very good study of the Bible, Covenants of the gods, if you have time to read it. Each blue link is a chapter of the book. It is a study of the Law as much as it is a study of the Bible, for:
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children/ Hosea 4:6

If you don't understand Law, you won't understand the Bible. The Bible is about Law and (self) governance. It is a about Kingdom and kings, (God and gods) from the beginning to the end. It is about serving no masters, but serving one another. It is about harmonious anarchy and what is required to maintain it, namely, take no oaths, oaths create jurisdiction.

Just as with the (Thomas) Jefferson Bible, you won't be reading of Jesus performing majik tricks anywhere in this book. I will say, most of the majik tricks you read of in the Bible are metaphors, not actually, miraculous events. Such as Jesus being tempted to turn stone into bread. People are the stones of a society, there are MANY references to stones in the Bible were people are the stones. Bread is a metaphor for profit, money. Jesus was literally being tempted by "Satan" so "turn these people into slaves for profit, and I will give you immense glory and power". This is a temptation that most men would not resist. It was not some mystical man with horns coming out of his head making this offer. It was just as today, Satan=the opposition, the Elite, who were striking a deal with Jesus, the 8th son of King David, the rightful heir to the thrown; "keep things as they are and we will see to it you are seated on the thrown of Judah". But Jesus had other plans...a "savior, one who had come to save people from the slavery of "Tithing". That people think that "Satan" wanted to be entertained by some majik tricks is absurd...

Never mind that God himself

Never mind that God himself is quite existant in the Bible and asks that people listen to him and follow his words rather than the voice of men. Never mind that the fault with the law was not with those who'd written it down but with the fact that it could never be followed and was created in that way to show men could never do it all on their own under their own power. That they would have to rely on a power greater than themselves to have any hope of matching up to a standard that was Biblical Old Testament Law. And to say miracles could never happen is insulting to a book about an omnipotent being's dealings with the beings he created and to the said being Himself. And if you have a problem with how the King James was written, as is clearly your beef as you seem interested to a point on mistranslations (though the mistranslations involved in that book were mostly based on a lack of ability of the translators, not some overarching agenda of King James), I would point you to more modern and more accurately translated versions that can be found at your local bookstore. I personally suggest the NLT.

Matthew 10:16

Wow, Tx

That was brilliant. Thank you. I could get into this kind of book. I will try your link, thx.

The myths that were shadows...

... gave way to the Myth become Reality, the half-truths gave way to the True, as God became incarnate and historically dwelt among us.

The shadow of the pagan corn king who multiplied the harvest gave way to the True Corn King who multiplied the loaves and fishes. The shadow of Bacchus found it's True version as the water turned to wine in Cana.

The shadows of truth are not equal to the Truth -- merely fragments and precursors in the human mind and spirit that would be fulfilled by the Real.

Cool

Where did you get that quote? Sounds like something I'd want to read.

Ron Paul - Intellectual hero

My own thoughts...

...but probably echoes from both Scripture and C.S. Lewis's discussion in 'Miracles'. I think that was actually the turning point that drew Lewis to Christ (with encouragement from Tolkien), realizing that here was the Myth become Reality. So this is my own paraphrasing of that, I guess. :)

Hey

Don't forget Samsun, with his golden blonde hair that shortens in sync with the four seasons, to represent the weakening rays of the sun. It's actually a little known fact, but every religious figure and character ever known to man actually represents the sun! It's amazing! (sarcasm)

Seriously, lay off the David Icke.

Yup.

There are 43 different life-death-rebirth deities including Jesus.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life-death-rebirth_deity

Of interesting note

Jesus is the only person in the list who was a real person, and therefore should have been easily refuted to have died and then come back to life.

Ill tell you one way Christians could have made it super easy for themselves was to say that Jesus came back to life in spirit, not in body. But that isn't the claim, the claim is that he came back to life in body. Something that can actually be put to the test.

Ron Paul - Intellectual hero

Good point.

So what allegedly happened to him after he came back alive? I thought that the stories ended at that time.

I am not sure why this is so offensive to some. I could get my head around worshiping the sun more than some ancient illiterate caveman. It just makes more sense. The sun gives light, food, and life. I would probably enjoy reading the bible if there weren't so many people that believe it is all to be taken literally. And then the rabid hatred and down-voting for those who disagree is simply baffling to me. I thought Protestants were supposed to spread the word, not silently down-vote all who ask questions or try to understand. I guess that perfectly demonstrates why rulers can always get these people to do harm to those who believe differently from them.

Let the down-voting resume. Or perhaps explain why this thread is wrong.

I agree

A civil discussion is much more constructive than thread voting. Let it be noted that I voted your thread up, after it was down-voted.

To answer your last question, just very simply, people don't like to admit that they are wrong.

As far as what happened after Jesus resurrection, its all there in the gospels. At the moment I don't have any material to cite with corroborating evidence. But according to the gospels, Jesus appeared approximately 400 people, I believe, over the course of 40 days, after his death. I don't have time at the moment to double check that figure... Many of them at the same time. Thomas one of the disciples was described as very much doubting Jesus's resurrection. But then Jesus is described as appearing in a room with all 12 disciples, and Thomas putting his finger through the holes in Jesus's hand.

This is just a portion of the events surrounding Jesus's resurrection. If you decide to read the accounts for yourself, I encourage you to give the NLT version a try. It is a highly rated translation, quite literal in-fact, but easy to understand without much of the "spiritual" verbiage.

Another good (nice and concise) reading if this interests you is the book "The Case For Christ", written by a converted Atheist. The wikipedia entry is also a decent start. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resurrection_of_Jesus

Ron Paul - Intellectual hero

Hey thanks, Solomon.

I dropped you an email through DP.

I have been looking for the most literal translation. I thought I would try the Geneva bible. But I will look into the NLT. What does that stand for?

I will read the wiki page, thanks.

I up-voted you back.

;)

NLT

Stands for New Living Translation. http://www.youversion.com/ is a great free resource with just about every relevant translation out there.

White Horse Mormons pledge allegiance to the holy bomb

White Horse Mormons pledge allegiance to the holy bomb and the blessed fallout therefrom.

Nevermind bleeding Horus or Mithra.

Bishop Willard, a flip-flopper who, as a high cleric of the Mormon church, is exempt from all written law including the ten commandments, has pledged to create 12,000,000 jobs.

This is one promise he intends to keep, as he prepares to initiate World War III and mobilize the entire population of the United States in a final, fatal global confrontation with the forces of "Evil."

This is so he can fulfill the White Horse prophecy, which states a mormon cleric shall ascend to the throne of America in its darkest hour, and oversee the transformation of the present world into the hereafter through a holy apocalypse.

It also fulfills Brigham Young's sacred, secret prayer all high clerics must utter every Sabbath, cursing the United States and all its generations to their doom for sins inflicted upon Deseret, the sacred state of Mormonism.

Hey! Bishop Willard's ahead in five swing states! Looks like Americans don't mind being swung by the neck on the gallows of a pathological liar obsessed with fulfilling angry prophecy.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

Having studied this issue,

Having studied this issue, most of the "facts" about Mithra and Horus are simply totally made up. That is not to say that the Catholic church borrowed Pagan symbols or whatnot, but these comparisons are not valid.

Ventura 2012

the horus thing make me smile.

sometimes I read on Internet tha horus was crucified, that is a total nonsense, because cucifixion was a roman thing.

It's real tha catholic church used the pagan calendar and most of the roman iconography in the first century.

Exactly.

Why bring up baseless claims, when there is honestly much better material out there to discuss for the intention of debating the Christian faith?

Ron Paul - Intellectual hero

Yes, there is actual material

Yes, there is actual material that will make you think. We have probably read similar books by Christian esoterics or Hermetics and know that they would not go as far as this video does in making things up(and they do often believe that Jesus is the sun god, which I deny.)

Ventura 2012

Interesting.

I will admit, most of my study is limited to the works of Ravi Zacharias, who is a brilliant thinker, and references many sources a tree which I am still trying to follow. My own studies are still young and done in my spare time.

ditto. You get more reading

ditto. You get more reading the catholic encyclopedic, and I'm not catholic.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Excellent video. Well worth the time watching it.

Thanks so much for sharing this. Very interesting.

You can read the gospel in

You can read the gospel in the old testament, before Jesus Christ even came.

Isaiah 53
1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Isaiah 53:7 he is brought as

Isaiah 53:7 he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Is there anyone else

That find the up/down vote as useless as me?

Ron Paul - Intellectual hero

Haha

Ironic

Ron Paul - Intellectual hero

There is no god!

and I love it.

But there is, thats what the video is pointing out.

So why aren't more scientists religious?
