Powerful New Video on New York City's Stop-and-Frisk Policy

We're really sliding over the precipice when this blatantly unconstitutional and invasive practice is tolerated in the largest city in the nation. Worse, its tolerance there would seem to make its spread inevitable.

NYPD Officers Stop-and-Frisk Teen ‘For Being a F****ing Mutt’

New York Magazine: A new documentary on the NYPD's controversial stop-and-frisk tactics includes jarring audio from one such search that neatly encapsulates everything critics say is wrong with the program. "I just got stopped like two blocks ago," says Harlem teenager Alvin, who covertly recorded the encounter on his phone. "You know why? You look very suspicious," an officer responds before adding, "Shut your f***in' mouth before I slap you." Asked why he's being held, a cop tells Alvin, "For being a f***in' mutt." And the threats keep coming: "Dude, I'm gonna break your f***ing arm," says the officer, "then I'm gonna punch you in the f***in' face."

This is the sort of truth that has to get out to the general public...very well produced and informative piece.

Who votes for him, you ask?

Last election was pretty dirty.

First, NYC has voted for a 2 term limit for mayors twice, yet somehow Gauleiter Bloomberg managed to buy enough votes on the city council (which is more than 2/3 democrats) to pass a special one time law to override the limit and allow him to run again. The deal probably involved a promise to give patronage mill jobs controlled by the mayor to some democrats, as they had been shut out for 16 years.

Second, all the major media outlets both broadcast and print constantly reported that "the polls" showed Bloomberg with a commanding lead, making his opponent appear to be a hapless goat. Only on the day of the election or even the day after, did they manage to mention that these "polls" were actually just one poll more than 2 months old taken even before the primary election and that more recent polls showed Bloomberg would barely eek out a win(which he did) despite all the money he spent.
A really glaring, blatant example of pervasive media bias.

i just realized

what we're living in is a modern inquisition.

NOOObody expects the modern

NOOObody expects the modern inquisition!

watch it, its a well done video.

Know your stuff, learn real history and economics @LibertyClassroom.com

You think that's out of control,

just wait until DHS takes over for bankrupt cities.

So disgusting....

The problem is, is that this mentality is embedded into our psychology.

Even here on DP, you see people who still display this mentality.

Protect your assets and profit from the greatest wealth transfer in history.

This is a really important video

It's really hard to watch. I know this stuff happens, but it's easy to forget about the deep, visceral anger this kind of thing produces when, like me, you live in Suburbia and maybe see a police car twice a week on the highway, and all of your personal interactions with them have been relatively positive.

Seeing stuff like this reminds me not to be complacent.

"The civilian population is being hunted" states a cop.

Constitution? We don't need no stinking Constitution!

Good video, everyone should watch it. Thanks for posting.

It's not the future.... It is

It's not the future.... It is now... I'm kinda lucky in that I am older and lived in a different time. Kids around 20 years old don't have a clue to how much things have really changed in a short amount of time. It's sad to think about how much freedom we have had taken even since 9-11

I Just Couldn't Listen To All Of This Video...Horrible!

Get the hell out of NY City! ..There is no hope for New York City under Mayor Bloomberg..He is worse than any criminal...

I live in a small city in Texas ( 40,000), a University town.

Cops banged on my door at 2:30 am. When I asked why. they said that my light was on. I get off of work at 12:30 am and was unwinding by reading a library book, with no radio or TV going. The cops screamed at me for almost thirty minutes. They admitted they got a noise ordinance complaint but no apartment number and the only reason they came to my door was that my light was on. So it must be against the law to have a light on after dark now. The cops also admitted that they had been spying through my window for ten minutes before knocking and they knew I was not making any noise. But they still harassed me.

I am middle-aged, not even college-aged or a teenager.

Every University is OWNED.

Well done doc

Welcome to the future of our totalitarian state.

Who would want to live in New York

after watching that video? My local police has some bad apples, but that stop and frisk stuff is tyrannical.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

-C. S. Lewis

Stuff like this makes folks want to live in NYC:

(irony intended)

People also remember how dangerous and out of control pre Ghouliani New York was and are convinced that this stop and frisk stuff protects them.

Bloomberg and that cop should be terminated immediately

Does Bloomberg encourage cops to behave like criminals?

They are shameless, borderline sociopaths

Personally know a recently retired NYC narcotics detective who gleefully, routinely indulges in drugs and hookers.

ytc's picture

emalvini, by all means, watch the second half of the video, too!

It explains how the ENTIRE department is infected with "hunt and fulfill the quota, if you want to keep the job", mentality. Bloomberg & "that cop" are not the only culprits, unfortunately.

I'll Try ytc, But What I Saw Half Way Thru made Me Ill

thanks for sharing...

get penalized then.

it's your DUTY to uphold the constitution. if you are told to do something against the highest law of the land or else you are going to get demoted, etc, and you still proceed to violate another person's rights, you will be held accountable in the end. it's no different than a hired goon doing the dirty work for their "boss" ...

I use Blue Wave, but don't expect one of THEIR silly taglines.

How does Bloomberg keep getting reelected? Who votes

for this jerk?
