U.S. Rep. Paul Broun: Evolution a lie 'from the pit of hell'

Quoth Rep. Paul Broun, R-GA:

“God’s word is true. I’ve come to understand that. All that stuff I was taught about evolution, embryology, Big Bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell. It’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who are taught that from understanding that they need a savior. There’s a lot of scientific data that I found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I believe that the Earth is about 9,000 years old. I believe that it was created in six days as we know them. That’s what the Bible says. And what I’ve come to learn is that it’s the manufacturer’s handbook, is what I call it. It teaches us how to run our lives individually. How to run our families, how to run our churches. But it teaches us how to run all our public policy and everything in society. And that’s the reason, as your congressman, I hold the Holy Bible as being the major directions to me of how I vote in Washington, D.C., and I’ll continue to do that.”

Broun, a medical doctor, serves on the Congressional Science, Space and Technology Committee and on the Homeland Security Committee.

Why the down votes?

I post, without comment, a direct quote from a US Congressmen who uses fundamentalist theology to guide his political decisions and it gets voted down. Why? This concerns me. Broun's thinking is no different than the Taliban's. Are there really supporters of theocracy among us?

How do people like him touch

How do people like him touch Congress?

This guy is a loon. He's a loon.

This is the problem with a Republican party. I'm a conservative, but I sound like a liberal because I believe that hurricanes are caused by barometric pressure and not gay marriage.

Science

Science is based on EVIDENCE. Evidence comes from TRUTH. This is how we get FACTS. Lies reside in the realm of belief, which is not based on science, evidence, truth or facts. Lets not forget Darwin was a Christian as well as a scientist.

"It’s not pessimistic, brother, because this is the blues. We are blues people. The blues aren’t pessimistic. We’re prisoners of hope but we tell the truth and the truth is dark. That’s different."

Me too..

I might agree with him...
I have some theories about man and dinosaurs living on earth together.
Dinosaurs are reptiles right? and Reptiles continue growing their entire life right?
So a really big alligator means a really old alligator.
Back before the flood, the Bible has records of people living 6, 7, 8oo years old, because of the greenhouse like water surrounding the earth. So, animals probably lived longer too. Boom! You've got really old reptiles = really big reptiles.

A medical doctor?

I'll take my chances on a witch doctor before him.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

Good. Evolution is theory and

Good. Evolution is theory and should be questioned along with everything else.

Broun, this guy i've wondered

Broun, this guy i've wondered about. Someone said on here he has a 93% Constitutional grade from JBS, he has introduced legislation in the House corresponding with Rand's in the Senate, and he has voted along side J Amash in the House before. Does anyone live in his district and know much about him???

*Wisconsin Constitution* Article I, Section 25 "The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other law-abiding purpose"

Maybe. Question everything.

Maybe. Question everything.
