California Delegates Needed- please help!
Ron Paul urgently needs delegates in Fresno, Madera, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, King, Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono and San Bernardino counties. These include the 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 31st, 32ns and 35th Congressional Districts.
Be a Ron Paul Delegate
to the Republican National Convention
The following is from the Ron Paul Campaign’s Western Regional Campaign Coordinator. This is an immediate and highest priority request!
It is absolutely crucial to the success of the campaign in California that YOU volunteer NOW to be a Ron Paul delegate to the Republican National Convention.
Keep in mind that it may be possible to raise funds from local Ron Paul supporters to finance your trip to the Convention. Please do not delay your response! In order to get Ron Paul on the ballot for the February 8th California Republican Primary election, we MUST have sufficient, verified delegate candidates.
If you are a registered Republican and are interested in participating with the campaign at this level, if you can take a week off work in September 2008 and finance your own trip to the national convention, please send

Just trying to keep this
Just trying to keep this string active and hoping someone will respond to my question.
what exactly does a delegate do
I'm new to politic too, but from what I hear, if Ron Paul win the nomination, and I hope that he do, you have to take a week off work in September 2008 to go to the GOP convention. Don't worry about financing the trip, the many meetup group in California will raise the fund to finance your trip.
But check with your meetup organizer or email Jeff Greenspan for info.
What Delegates do
Others can probably answer better, but here is my understanding. They do a few things.
They write out and vote on the party platform. Platforms these days are pretty meaningless and everyone ignores them.
They elect the Presidential Candidate for the party. Most of them are required to vote for the Candidate the people back home voted for the first two ballots. If noone gets 50% +1 of the votes, then they tend to get vote for whoever they want.
I think they also vote for a few other offices like maybe national chairman of the Republican party, but I may be wrong.
There is a lot of wild partying going on too I hear.
What exactly does a delegate do?
I'm new to politics. What exactly does a delegate do? I'm in the LA area. I'm in an area considered LA incorporated, whatever that means. We have a Sheriff's office instead of police.
