I don't know if this statement has been published here before, but here it is. This is on the official campaign website.

Summary: Ron Paul Statement of Faith

I have never been one who is comfortable talking about my faith in the political arena. In fact, the pandering that typically occurs in the election season I find to be distasteful. But for those who have asked, I freely confess that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior, and that I seek His guidance in all that I do. I know, as you do, that our freedoms come not from man, but from God. My record of public service reflects my reverence for the Natural Rights with which we have been endowed by a loving Creator.

by Ron Paul, Dr. July 21, 2007

The Covenant News ~ July 21, 2007

We live in times of great uncertainty when men of faith must stand up for our values and our traditions lest they be washed away in a sea of fear and relativism. As you likely know, I am running for President of the United States, and I am asking for your support.

I have worked tirelessly to defend and restore those rights for all Americans, born and unborn alike. The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideal of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.

In 40 years of medical practice, I never once considered performing an abortion, nor did I ever find abortion necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman. In Congress, I have authored legislation that seeks to define life as beginning at conception, H.R. 1094. I am also the prime sponsor of H.R. 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn. I have also authored H.R. 1095, which prevents federal funds to be used for so-called “population control.” Many talk about being pro-life. I have taken and will continue to advocate direct action to restore protection for the unborn.

I have also acted to protect the lives of Americans by my adherence to the doctrine of “just war.” This doctrine, as articulated by Augustine, suggested that war must only be waged as a last resort--- for a discernible moral and public good, with the right intentions, vetted through established legal authorities (a constitutionally required declaration of the Congress), and with a likely probability of success.

It has been and remains my firm belief that the current United Nations-mandated, no-win police action in Iraq fails to meet the high moral threshold required to wage just war. That is why I have offered moral and practical opposition to the invasion, occupation and social engineering police exercise now underway in Iraq. It is my belief, borne out by five years of abject failure and tens of thousands of lost lives, that the Iraq operation has been a dangerous diversion from the rightful and appropriate focus of our efforts to bring to justice to the jihadists that have attacked us and seek still to undermine our nation, our values, and our way of life.

I opposed giving the president power to wage unlimited and unchecked aggression, However, I did vote to support the use of force in Afghanistan. I also authored H.R. 3076, the September 11 Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001. A letter of marque and reprisal is a constitutional tool specifically designed to give the president the authority to respond with appropriate force to those non-state actors who wage aggression against the United States while limiting his authority to only those responsible for the atrocities of that day. Such a limited authorization is consistent with the doctrine of just war and the practical aim of keeping Americans safe while minimizing the costs in blood and treasure of waging such an operation.

On September 17, 2001, I stated on the house floor that “…striking out at six or eight or even ten different countries could well expand this war of which we wanted no part. Without defining the enemy there is no way to know our precise goal or to know when the war is over. Inadvertently more casual acceptance of civilian deaths as part of this war I'm certain will prolong the agony and increase the chances of even more American casualties. We must guard against this if at all possible.” I’m sorry to say that history has proven this to be true.

I am running for president to restore the rule of law and to stand up for our divinely inspired Constitution. I have never voted for legislation that is not specifically authorized by the Constitution. As president, I will never sign a piece of legislation, nor use the power of the executive, in a manner inconsistent with the limitations that the founders envisioned.

Many have given up on America as an exemplar for the world, as a model of freedom, self-government, and self-control. I have not. There is hope for America. I ask you to join me, and to be a part of it.

Sincerely,

Ron Paul

OK if you've read this far, great ! Pass this on. Why did I post this:

There's a lot of anti-Christian posting out here, so I am posting this with a couple of goals:

A) KNOW DR. PAUL more fully, what motivates him, etc

B) IF YOU'RE A CHRISTIAN, please consider forward this to your email lists or print & give out at church, put on windshields on Sundays, whatever - Huckabee is surging because he is promoted heavily and uses Christian buzz-words more effectively, even though his policies are a disaster & Dr. Paul's positions line up much more with Christian standards

C) IF YOU EMBRACE & POST ANTI-CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHY - I want you to know you are suppporting a candidate who accepts, and embodies Chrisitanity in a truly genuine way - rejecting theft & bribery - married 50 years to the same woman - what greater proof is there ?

This is a contradiction, no ? I'm sure you wouldn't slam Dr. Paul personally, but aren't you coming pretty close by slamming that which he foundationally believes ?

It's quite possible you just reject phony 'church-ianity' (as do I) and you're confusing that with real, genuine Christianity - which you've not personally seen lived out.

You alone could say why that might be.....

But this refusal to try to understand the highest standards that can jointly motivate us, without resorting to name calling is kinda disheartening. United we stand, divided we fall.

As one poster said "you can't bring these Principles of Liberty to the fore by championing Howard Stern, Pornography & Pot".

Agreed ?

Only by appealing to ancient Principles - Scripture, Wisdom, Common Law & Natural Law (all of which our Founders cited repeatedly), will we win the day & just possibly gain the White House !

God bless one & all, CK

technically I am a

technically I am a Christian, but I do not believe in a god. But I do embrace dr RON PAUL. Whatever his religious belief is, it is his choice, not mine, and therefore irrelevant to me.

I am a Christian and....

...I've never taken into account Ron Paul's religious position. I've taken into account RP's integrity and zeal for the Constitution and love of liberty - but not his particular religious beliefs.

People should be wary of politicians making a show of their "faith in God". So we elect a president (Bush) in part because he says he's a Christian - then he shows by his actions that he is far from it. Now there is the "faith based initiative" within the Dept of Homeland Security. One must be wary of this.

I say - BEWARE of power grabbing people who use religion to bolster their support. If you do not want America to be a theocracy - where you have no real choice to obey your conscience on what (if any) religion you follow - then vote for the preservation and restoration of the Constitution, and a seperation of Church and State.

just emailed this out

to a few PA voters! Yes, There is a protest vote---Yes, there is an alternative to McCain....

Thanks for posting

Good information and I can think of a few people to pass this on to!

No matter how hard you try........

you will always be loved for who you are and not for what you profess.

these days will attempt to dismantle our unity fore our solid unity brings about the goodness in the world we each seek in earnest. how little a person becomes finding it necessary to dissolve their relationship with another person strictly because each cannot SEE in the same light. what patience have you? what patience have i? the last thing we all need is for any one of us to shut our eyes and see only ourselves as true.

love and be loved.

Heil Huck..

Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith. from our point of view as representatives of the state, we need believing people. A dark cloud threatens from Poland. We have need of soldiers, believing solders. Believing solders are the most valuable ones. They give their all. Therefore we will maintain the confessional schools in order to train believing people through the schools, but this depends upon having truly believing teachers, not by chance Marxists who do not stand fully by their religious faith, as teachers.

-Hitler, [quoted from Helmreich, p.241]

Religion is very good on an individual level. But, very evil when used to control others visa vi government or "submission" to a pastor or elder. "being ruled by G-d" is codeword for ruled by the pastor. This is why Huckabee is EVIL and Ron Paul is Righteous...

I guess the History Channel is full of it then..
You didn't look at the link with all the proof did you?

Here is some of the mountains of evidence of proof.....

http://www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm

In Private yes you are correct. In public Hitler used Christianity big time. Again, look at just some of the proof in the link above.

"Our Church of the Lady" at Nuremburg was the foundation of the NAZI party..

On April 20, 1939, Archbishop Orsenigo celebrated Hitler's birthday. The celebrations, initiated by Pacelli (Pope Pius XII) became a tradition. Each April 20, Cardinal Bertram of Berlin was to send "warmest congratulations to the Fuhrer in the name of the bishops and the dioceses in Germany" and added with "fervent prayers which the Catholics of Germany are sending to heaven on their altars."

Hitler Oath:

I swear by God,
this holy oath,
to the Führer of the German Reich and people.
Adolf Hitler...

Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord.

-Hitler (Mein Kampf)

that is when I myself in 1933 endeavoured to unite the weak and divided Protestant Churches of the different States into one great and powerful Evangelical Church of the Reich. That attempt failed through the opposition of the bishops of some States; it was therefore abandoned. For it is in the last resort not our task to defend or even to strengthen the Evangelical Church

-Adolf Hitler, a speech in the Reichstag on 30 Jan. 1939 [Baynes]

why the haters

Our man has the perfect stance on all the issues and all the personal experiences. Why would you want to bury a great statement like this, just because you aren't in agreement? You have to realize the support people like Huckabee get JUST BECAUSE HE FLAUNTS HIS RELIGION.

Huckabees fans just might change their tune...

Today he said on Morning Joe: "I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living Allah. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in Allah's standards rather than try to change Allah's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Say that and the Huckster's supporters will panic....actually he did say God.

Not agreed

"As one poster said, 'You can't bring these Principles of Liberty to the fore by championing Howard Stern, Pornography & Pot.'

"Agreed?"

Not agreed.

Liberty means that people are free to say what they choose, free to look at the pictures they choose to look at, and free to do with their own bodies as they choose, even if I or the government believes they are harming themselves when they do.

Ron Paul's secular support

A recent poll that was featured on Lew Rockwell's site showed that Ron Paul scored by far the highest among people who identified themselves as atheist or non-religious. It's about freedom, prosperity, and peace. Religion is politics divides. Freedom unites.

i'm not religious

but i liked it... good letter by dr. paul.

and heads-up: you could have avoided all of the grumbling below by tweaking your headline a little bit.

Religion

Kim Tipton I am a christian and am a delegate for Ron Paul, I am thinking we could be losing votes to Huck because we have no apeal to christians and his campiagn is stealing all of our fund raising ideas, having you noticed how our donations went down and his went up and continues to rise as we speak? WE have to be attractive to all, Ron Paul is.

This stuff does not belong

This stuff does not belong on thios blog - just stop it.

have you noticed...

that these religious post seem to get the most comments.. mmmmhhh I wonder why?

~Perki

God says to love your neighbor as yourself! LETS FIGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY!! FIght for the freedom of religion and freedom of speech.. lets focus on the goal not all the distractions that will lead us to be haters.
Whats our Goal people of daily paul??? I cant hear you.. ???

GETTING RON PAUL ELECTED@@ .. now focus! :P smile if you want lol

just flag this stuff and move on...

the trolls love posting Christian and 9/11 truther stuff here to divide the revolution and give more ammunition to the media to defeat us.

The truth is they're not going to let McCain or the Huckster win, either. Damn, the "talking points" must have been issued last night on McCain because EVERY conservative radio host I tuned into today was killing him... from Rush to Laura Ingram. Even Boortz.... I thought that stupid mofo was a libertarian, but he obviously gets his talking points from the neocon right.

He has been here for a handful of days and is using religion to divide. Happened before? Yes. Has issues, YES. Check all 3 of his posts. Still leaving.

This is one of the things I love about Dr. Paul

And I posted what you would call "anti-christian philosophy."

Dr. Paul is a moral man and a great asset to America and the Christian religion. And I'n in no way "anti-christian." However, the quotes I posted were factual and not "philosophy". I know it was a rough pill and your mind is in denial.

Christianity mixed with the state has been the driving force behind most tyrants. Double dog dare you to look at these photo's.
http://www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm
You know with the right mustache huck could look just like the guy in those photos.

Thanks for posting this. The "be ruled by" post was a very bad post!
This is a very good post... In fact I've posted Dr. Pauls statement of faith many times all over the internet.

The "ruled by g-d" post was about "control" over others through mental manipulation. Because, "g-d" always needs a spokesman, right? And, we will never agree on who and what words written by men are from g-d.

This is exaclty why Huck is so offensive! Dr. Paul isn't offensive HE IS A great Christian Man!

This post is simply informing.

I think you will find that no one is anti-christian. But, sometimes the truth can be unpleasant. In fact, it usually is. As long as you see your preachers and elders in the church as people and nothing more you'll be o.k.

How it started

That is how it started with hitler... He used christianity to fool people and well you know the rest of the story.. can u say huckster...

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (yum yum yum)

Yeah, whatever

your history is seriously flawed. Hitler was NEVER a Christian, he was into spiritism. He wanted to start his own religion with himself at the center. Where did you get that from?

delete my account!!!

You are Right. The Religion of Christianity, but, NOT...

Biblical Christianity. The Religion of Christianity, which you state correctly... "Christianity mixed with the state has been the driving force behind most tyrants."...is VERY far removed from what The Lord Jesus Christ actually taught, and from what the Bible actually says.

The Priests and the majority of Pastors, realize that VERY few "christians" actually read the Bible, or for that matter...study it. Just remember Satan is in that church building every Sunday, a great portion of the time right in the Pulpit.

But Ron Paul seems to have a handle on this. His message is very much in line with Biblical Christianity, and a good part of the reason why he has my support.

Sham religion

What does the gold standard, Austrian economics, capitalism, nativism, Constitutionalism, closed borders, abolishing the welfare programs for the poor and disabled like TANF, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc., eliminating the IRS and the Fed, denying birthright citizenship to illegal babies, and repealing the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act have to do with Jesus freaking Christ?? Absolutely nothing. If you want Christian economics go read the Pope's teachings on social justice. Go read Hillaire Belloc, and look up distributivism. There is nothing Christian or saintly about Ron Paul's policies. They are strictly pragmatic and that's fine with me. Please stop dragging Jesus into this, for Christ sakes!

Jesus Christ is my Savior!

I am proud to profess it as does Ron Paul ! Listen people, truth be spoken by Ron Paul. I believe God is trying to warn this nation through Ron Paul and other righteous people. This nation was blessed by God in the beginning but has turned its back on God and His Commandments! As God giveth us our blessings He shall take them away too. Ron Paul is telling us the TRUTH. It's God's way of washing the mud from our eyes so we can awaken to the evil that is all around us; in the media, in the corruption at all levels, in the greed, etc. Who do you serve? The dollar or something else? I serve God the Father through Jesus Christ. Wake up people and take a good look around. Bible prophecy does not lie! Read the book of Daniel and Revelations, and read the truth for yourselves!

I believe in the Jewish Lord of Host.

Follow the 10 Commandments and the philosophy / tenants of the Talmud. And, teachings of the modern reformation Jews.

The Zohar has a saying to the effect that it doesn't matter if people agree when talking about the Torah. One man may think it says one thing and another another. What is important is that they are discussing Torah..

My wife practices Orthodox Christianity which is completely different in many respects from western Christianity.

The tent here is pretty big.
~~~~~~~~~~
I just found the "ruled by" post EXTREMLY OFFENSIVE!!
What we do to another, we but do unto ourselves.
32nd Scottish Rite Mason and Knights Templar. God is Great. Dr. Paul is a good man. He does not talk about being a Christian very often, but he sure does act like one all the time. This Revolution is big enough for all. Peace and harmony, hard work and innovation will win the day.
Not to be controversial but wasn't Our Lord Yeshua AGAINST the
Talmud, or how it was known then ..."...the Traditions of men"??
