Just curious. Has anyone hear ever tried playing Election Themed video games?

Not too long ago, I stumbled across two different computer games that are based on the simple concept of running for President. The Political Machine and President Forever series of games.

I found both games to be quite enjoyable, so I have the 2008 and 2012 versions for both games.

The Political Machine seems to be the easier of the two, and you can even modify issues to things you think are important, either in addition to or in place of issues already built in the game. A major limitation here is that you only get to have Democrat and Republican Party, and there's no primaries.

The President Forever series don't seem to allow this, however, you can use candidates from outside the major parties, and you do get to play a primary/caucus cycle, instead of just the general election cycle.

I actually have found these two games to have some degree of educational value as well, so I have referenced them as part of the social studies instruction I offer to my son.

Just curious if anyone else has played these two games, or would be interested in trying them out.

Back in 2004

I remember playing an anti-bush flash game on the internet. It starred Hulk Hogan and went through several levels like a platform game. In between levels it would have "educational" segments discussing bush policies, like the death tax and his horrible spending record. Looking back now, the material was heavily biased (portrayed democrats in a very good light) but it was pretty entertaining.

Haven't heard of that one.

But I'll check it out.

Political Machine

I've got that one. It does have Some educational value as maybe an introduction to some of the concepts.

Beating Kennedy was a serious pain. Got it during the '08 season but haven't played it in about as long. Last thing I remember doing was making myself a personalized bobblehead candidate and making Ron Paul my VP...

The President Forever series has a game for running for Congress (2010) as well. I didn't try that game yet, but perhaps eventually, I will.
