Help End the Fraud of The Commission on Presidential Debates!

"The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) began in 1987 by the Democratic and Republican parties to establish the way that presidential election debates are run between candidates for President of the United States.

"Prior to this, the League of Women Voters moderated the 1976, 1980, 1984 debates before it withdrew from the position as debate moderator with this statement after the 1988 Presidential debates:

"the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commission_on_Presidential_Debates

So how do we end the fraud? We have our own debate, and we do our best to let the entire nation know about the debate and the CPD's fraud. But we need Your help!

The debate will take place in Chicago on the 23rd @ 8pm Central Time at the University Club of Chicago

Hosted by the Free & Equal Elections Foundation.

So far Link TV, Al Jazeera, Russia Today and Ora.tv have confirmed their cameras will be there, and we'll also have an abundance of alternative media there. (Josh Tolley, Restore the Republic and We Are Change, etc)

We are actively looking for more sponsors and more media willing to cover this event, and if you know any media outlets or organizations that would be interested in being a sponsor, (or interviewing Free and Equal's Christina Tobin) we're not looking for cash to be a sponsor, just that they spread word of the debate - please pass the word along! We’d also greatly appreciate it if everyone reading this would pass word of the debate to the MSM via emails and phone calls!

Any help would be hugely appreciated in this effort to make this the most viewed debate with alternative voices ever! Let’s end the fraud!

You Can't Force People to Debate

As libertarians we should all understand that Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have rights just like any other human being. Their decision to debate only each other is fully within their rights of freedom of speech. No one should be legally forced to have a conversation with people they don't want to talk to on national television. To think otherwise is extremely un-libertarian.

The only way to change this situation is for enough people to refuse to vote for anyone who isn't willing to debate all candidates.

I would never support a law that forced Obama and Romney to debate Gary Johnson and Jill Stein against their will. The only true libertarian solution is for the people of this country to demand politicians participate in third-party inclusive debates if they want to be elected.

I completely agree with you kmswim

I do think a lawsuit against the MSM for covering the Demoplican debate if they ignore this one may be in order though, as an illegal campaign contribution.

But don't networks have the freedom to choose programming?

Why would a network televise a 3rd party debate that very few people will watch? Networks make money from advertising, and advertisers pay for viewers. If there's no market for the 3rd party debate then there's no reason for networks to put it on TV.

Again, the only libertarian solution is for more and more people to start believing in and demanding liberty from their politicians, and refusing to support anything else.

It's called

An illegal campaign contribution if they include some and exclude others. And how do know that people wouldn't tune in to hear new voices and new ideas? We'll find out tonight!

Where was all the debate fraud outrage

When Dr Paul was getting screwed??? Who cares now???

I support this...

action to allow all candidates that can in theory win in to the debates, Virgil Goode,Gary Johnson, and even Jill.

Ron/Rand Paul 2016! Constitution Party 2016!

A great first step.

The next step should be to eliminate the commission itself.

How we end the fraud

We have to go inside to end the fraud. We need to occupy at least one party, the GOP, and politically move to end the fraud, as RESTRORING THE REPUBLIC.

Many good people have been fighting for open debates and ballots. That was the bottom line of Ralph Nader's campaigns. When peititoning for ballot access I would ask, "Do you believe an Independent has the RIGHT to be on the ballot?" People would say, "YES!" "Do you believe debates should include Independent and third party candidates?" Most people would say, "YES!" "Would you sign this petition to get Independent candidate Ralph Nader on the ballot and into the debates?" Republicans ROTFLTAO. Independents and third party members would sign and be grateful, "I was hoping I would see you guys" (I was not a professional petititoner, they refused to work because of the Democrats) The Democrats were so brutal, so enraged and opposed, and that included half the green party, which split, kinda like the "liberty Movement" is now split by those in the GOP and those who "Really like Ron Paul BUT", except there was no computer screen between us. and they broke bones, and arms, and harrassed us merciless. They wanted to wipe us off the face of America. False arrests, vandalized, complained to stores, police, would go into fits and scream enraged what we were doing to Gore, and the MSM censorship was way worse, we had Meet-up, which was free back then..but we did not have political committees in place that could carry out the platform and actually deliver open debates and ballots.

Ron Paul's solution is simple in a profound way.. you have to empty your head of negative second thoughts, hate, anger, revenge, bigotry, prejudice, doubt, and fill it with LOVE for self, others, country, freedom, liberty, sound money, Roberts Rules of Order, the Constitution, government organization, how it works, why it works despite it not working.. who's who, why and what's the local and state solution under constitutional law, and the local and state problem under international bankers Inc laws.

Once we have the GOP, and able to Restore the Republic, it might be very hard to give up these corrupt laws being we have the power and it's giving up that power// I think that will be the hardest part of this good fight. That's why it's important to show up and keep the fire buring for Liberty.

People need to stop thinking they know the GOP and check out their local GOP and see all the opportunity they have to open debates and ballots by showing up and being counted.

Don't worry.

All of these third-party pushers and conspiracy theorists who think they're going to do away with the two-party system will go back into hibernation once all of their third-party candidates get thoroughly annihilated on November 6. Once the general election is over, we'll all be able to get back to taking over the Republican Party. Sure, there will always be a minority of anarchist grumps who delight themselves in doom and gloom, but, most of them will give up their ridiculous third-party nonsense.

You don't know me Dixie, and you misunderstand this effort

I'm a longtime Republican. I still am. I don't have any delusions of a 3rd party candidate winning and I don't ascribe to conspiracy theories.

I do think that the ideas these candidates are putting forth are worthy of being heard. And 1. when it takes a billion dollars to run a winning campaign. 2. secret deals are being made between the two ruling parties behind closed doors. That we need change not just from within, but from without too.

i also think you're diminishing our chances of Rand Paul 2016 if you're helping Romney win this year.

On third parties:

I'm looking forward to the third party debate I saw scheduled somewhere at the end of this month. But, hearing what third party candidates have to say is nothing more than entertainment. The winner-take-all electoral system in the United States is not conducive to third parties. We're not a two-party system as some claim because of "the elites," "the bankers," "the globalists," or "the establishment." The hundreds of millions of dollars spent on individual presidential campaigns are not insurmountable and secret deals being made behind closed doors are both things that would accompany every one of the minority parties if they were big enough. When you consider how much value the dollar has lost, a $800 million campaign really isn't that much with this being a country of over 300 million people.

Another thing. When we do eventually become the Republican establishment, these third parties aren't going to fold up and go away. Instead of being a bunch of little burrs in the current establishment's saddle, they'll be annoying burrs in OUR saddle.

On Rand running in 2016: I don't see anyway in the world that Rand Paul would be able to win the Republican nomination in 2016. Rand's political beliefs, particularly on foreign policy are way too close to his father's for the Conservative establishment to stomach. It will take a lot more than four years for us to make enough non-interventionist disciples out of Republican in order to win that party's nomination. I don't even think Ron Paul got 10% of the popular vote. It's not just his poor communication abilities and the fact that he's not that telegenic, it's that the overwhelming majority of Republican voters did not want what he was offering. If Romney gets elected this year and wins reelection in 2016, it will give us eight years to educate and take over the Republican Party from the bottom up.

Granger, I'm a fan of "and" not "or"

Just sayin' :)

I'm personally fine with working within the GOP, and promoting open debates. I'm also OK with others not being comfortable working within a party, heck, we have people in the freedom movement who refuse to even vote, and that's OK too!

Trying to get everyone in the liberty movement to follow your lead and work within the GOP to the exclusion of any other path is tilting at windmills even larger than trying to get the MSM to show up at this debate!

And, not or! :)

It's not my lead

Having been on the other paths for decades.. I believe it is important to encourage this new path Ron Paul Restoring the Republic, that is not for everybody, but everyday, could be that day for somebody.

We are winning. We are the future. We are RepubliCANs having a rEVOLution that anyone who actually wants to FIGHT can join. Those who would prefer to play can do what they want, including the same old methods in the name of grassroots that ultimately goes to body surfing at best.

Somewhere there is a great quote

From Dr. Paul back in 08' when he said something along the lines of "the revolution if it's going to be successful needs to be in every party, the republican party, the democratic party, etc" It might have been when he was at the "3rd party" forum he hosted with Ralph Nader, Chuck Baldwin and Cynthia McKinney...

Anyways, have fun tilting at your windmills and I'll have fun tilting at mine:)

LIBERTY2ME's picture

Does anyone know what the

Does anyone know what the court outcome was on Gary Johnson being able to be in the debates? Obviously he is not in them so far, but did the judge ever rule on this?

OK just add 2 chairs in the corners with TV screens and dunce

hats. Then ask the same questions and let the sold out muppet puppet talking head obamabarrymittens so their snarky smiley responses and watch GJ make a great comedy show. Should be good ratings.

sovereign

sign up to Romney and Obama's campaign list

Then email and/or call them and ask if they are going to attend this. Those on their campaign list may have more pull than random calls from the public. Will it work? It's free and can't hurt to try

If ron paulgot the nomination

Would yall be pushing this issue? I think not

https://twitter.com/#!/Agonzo1

Thoughts

I think Paul himself would push the issue! I also think he would still show up for the Free and Fair Election if he got the nomination.

Better Yet

How about a commission on RNC rules? Or maybe a commission on the MSM rules, or, well you get the idea.

skippy

It's a good idea but it should have been planned months ago

Hopefully it won't be too little too late!

Months ago

We were still focused on Ron Paul and the RNC... Some of the biggest events in history were pretty spontaneous though!

Call/email a few media outlets?:)

The Commission on Presidential Debates

is just another scapegoat for the political problem in this country. I don't like the mandatory 15% in five national polls either. If I could have my way, I'd make it so that all a candidate had to get is three percent in three national polls along with being on the ballot in enough states to win the electoral college. But, it's not like third parties thrived back when the League of Women Voters ran the thing. This isn't some modern conspiracy by the two parties to keep it a two-party system.

The reason we're a two-party system and always will be is because of the fact that all local, state, and Congressional elections are winner take all. Minority parties cannot thrive in that kind of environment. It's just the way the American electoral system was set up from the beginning. First it was the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans, then the Democrats and the Whigs, and then the Republicans and Democrats. If you want to waste your life pursuing senseless nonsense like this, have fun.

Ballot access

Ballot access is another reason. State laws create major/minor party distinctions with special privileges to the major parties. These laws can be changed at the state level.

Sure they are. However, until someone is willing to...

"reach out and touch" those BEHIND this (primarily the bankers), nothing will change.

A less drastic, but probably more violent, solution is picket lines, cyber attacks, etc. to stop the debates. However, just like the "Arab Spring," nothing will change, and things will get worse, until those really responsible "feel the heat". I understand Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said that, had average citizens taken axes to the Soviet Secret Police when they first appeared, Russia would not have suffered 70 years of Communist oppression.

Hopeless optimism is just as dangerous as hopeless pessimism. You owe it to yourselves to prepare for ANYTHING, even if you just do it in your mind. Bullies seek out easy targets, not potentially dangerous ones.

I like the concept

but do you Really think Obama or Mitt Romney would agree to be a part of this debate?

His name is Edward Snowden

What is Capitalism?

not likely

but their absence will be seen by hopefully millions of viewers watching.
