Talk Show Icon Larry King to Moderate "3rd Party" Debate

"Larry King, the celebrated talk show host accustomed to A-list interview guests, has agreed to moderate a debate featuring a squad of minor-party presidential candidates."

Your thoughts on the choice of moderator? Larry King is a household name, and his presence at this debate really helped attract more cameras!

Christina Tobin is the Chairwoman of the Free and Equal Foundation that is hosting the debate, if anyone reading this is in contact with anyone in the media who may like to interview Christina, please pass my phone number along to them and I'll line it up!

With the news of

Larry King moderating this debate spreading as far and wide as it has, I'd say we made a good call!

Who should we try to get to moderate the 2nd debate on the 30th?!

Ben Swann
Abby Martin
Josh Tolley

Immoral funding of Military Industrial Complex by Federal Reserve and US taxation system must stop!!!! End illegal/unconstitutional wars! Preserve US currency!

Ben Swann will be employed by someone who will let him take part in our 2016 debates...and we'll definitely have Josh Tolley back (he took part in our roundtable discussion in Chicago - I think we'll see him doing a lot more with Free and Equal in the future) We chose Thom Hartmann over Abby Martin for name recognition reason mostly, Thom has the biggest progressive talk radio show audience in the country, and reason #2 - it's good to build alliances across the political spectrum...

We did learn something though, next time we're having the debates in NY and LA, we missed out on some HUGE names because no one wanted to fly in to DC!

While I agree with your other

While I agree with your other two choices, Abby Martin is a fake leftist pretending to be a libertarian and an enemy of the real liberty movement.

Time to Support Gary Johnson

Let's face it, Gary Johnson is the strongest third party candidate we've had in years and he largely supports the entire platform of Dr. Paul. Right now, he could use some contributions to keep the voice of liberty going right up until the November 6th election. I urge you to visit:

Last nights debate video with 5 presidential candidates

Tired of watching the republicans and demoncrats go at it, This video includes three more

Larry King, as an interviewer has household name recognition

He will most likely ask relevant questions and hopefully the alternative candidate will offer some real solutions. Any audience he and the candidates will attract is a positive result. I would watch this debate, while I had absolutely 0 interest in watching the O/B & R/B BS sessions. I believe Larry will help shed some light on the current insanity.

Hi Zak! Paul from Seattle here (Rock the Revolution Tour).

Hope you're doing well.

Great post and I have already sent my question in to this debate which was:

Where in the U.S. Constitution does it authorize the Congress to transfer money (via foreign aid) to ANY foreign nation?

Especially in light of the fact that we're 16 trillion dollars debt.

This question should have been asked at the presidential debate last night.

I'll call you soon Zak.

I know who you are pawnstorm:)

Looking forward to talking to you, and heading back to Seattle after these debates!!!

I like Larry King. He is a

I like Larry King. He is a good interviewer and always seems to give fair interviews. Not sure why people here are making claims such as "Larry King is a zionist and cannot be trusted". That's just absurd. I look forward to this debate, and will email CSPAN asking them to cover it.

Larry King is a wheeler and a dealer ... this clip is taken from the excellent 1995 documentary appropriately titled "SPIN":

this is really bad. King

this is really bad. King cannot be trusted.

"King cannot be trusted."

So, what's to trust? He's going to ask questions. What's the big deal? On "Talk Stoop" on channel 4.2 (So. Cal Over The Air), the gal asked him if his suspenders were a talisman, and he didn't know what "talisman" meant, so I'm presuming he's relatively harmless.

Freedom is my Worship Word!

MSM will try to ridicule this.

I hope that many people watch this and that it does get covered on C-SPAN. I do see Larry King as a liability. Even though he has great name recognition, he is well past his prime as you can see in many of his recent interviews and he is a staunch Zionist and supporter of the status quo.

Also, the inclusion of Virgil and Rocky marginalizes the debate by limiting the speaking time for Gary and Jill, the two candidates that had the support to get on enough ballots to have a theoretical chance of gathering a majority of electoral votes.

Larry may be a staunch Zionist but he is polite and dignified.

Further, I do not feel the inclusion of Virgil and Rocky causes that much harm, as the key will be the wording of the questions. I do hope every one gets equal time.

Saying the inclusion of other candidates limits the speaking time of two candidates you think matter is literally the excuse of the detractors who think Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are the only people worth hearing.

You can't look at it like tiers of likely candidates, you have to look at it as the haves and the have-nots. Saying anyone should be excluded from the third-party debate only serves to marginalize the effort to call into question the practices of the Commission on Presidential Debates.

Positively negative

I guess the positive is name recognition. That being said I think Larry King is an idiot so you have to weigh one against the other...kind of like having Bob Barr as a candidate for president.
The only thing worse than Larry's TV show was that rambling nonsense he called a column on USA today. (If anyone knows something that tastes better than cookies let me know. Is it me or does Sinatra sound better everytime I hear a recording, and speaking of that why is it so cold in January?) lol Sadly with America being what it is, King might actually be a good choice. For me personally though, I smell a train wreck though I hope I am wrong. Hate to be a killjoy, it's just how I feel.

I don't know what his

I don't know what his personal opinions were, so I can't judge if he was an idiot or not. But from what I've seen, he's far better than his replacement Piers Morgan. He actually listens to the one he's interviewing and allows them to complete their sentences. He doesn't stuff down his opinions down your throat like Piers does. Piers isn't interested in hearing your views. He's only interested in hearing himself talk.

I agree on Morgan

I agree completely with you on Morgan. With King, the only thing I feel he had going was whoever did his booking got the most sought after guests. Might be because they knew it was so safe. Still, this guy became a characature of himself. He was parodied so many times and in most cases the parody was not much unlike the real thing. I think this is what worries me in the sense that it may lead to the whole debate not being taken as seriously. He's one of those peeps who is famous mainly for being famous, not because of any real substance to his work. Your point is a good one though. If he is true to form and lets these candidates speak, he might end up being the perfect host. I sincerely hope that is the case.

Not on C-Span

I checked the schedule and the debate will not be on. I emailed C-Span asking them to cover it.

Good idea to let them know there is an

enthusiastic audience for real debate.

I predict he'll ask these questions...

- Why don't you support Israel?
- Why do you want to legalize heroin?

He'll pick issues that the general public is afraid of but the candidates support and he'll get the candidates to talk about those issues.

King is not an ally. If you want to see his true colors and how he operates in the political arena then you need to watch Spin

Thanks for pointing me to

Thanks for pointing me to Spin! Great documentary so far.

I'm actually quite impressed that you pulled that off.

Good Choice

...if not for the name recognition alone.

WE will be watching this REAL meaty debate!!!

When, where, which station. . . give us all the details!!! Great work, Zak C et al. Thank you.

I thought I saw somewhere that this would be shown

on C-Span.

During last night's R&D debate, it would have been cool if someone asked about their agreement to exclude other candidates. They'd have made fools of themselves (more so than they normally do)
