Salon: The libertarian/marijuana conspiracy to swing the election

Robocalls urge pro-drug legalization voters to support libertarian Gary Johnson, and could push the state to Romney.

By David Sirota | Salon.com

The term “perfect storm” is so overused as to be a pathetic cliche — but alas, in politics, it is about the best phrase to describe Colorado in the upcoming election. The state could decide the outcome. And if it comes down to that, it will likely be messy, for we are watching an epic convergence of factors that seem poised to make the square state 2012′s version of Florida in 2000.

Here in the center of the Intermountain West, we have polls showing a nail-bitingly close race between the Democratic and Republican nominees for president. We have a chief election official, Secretary of State Scott Gessler, who has tried both to engage in mass voter purges and to block the mailing of ballots to eligible voters, all while openly saying a “good election” is one in which “Republicans win.” On the ballot, we also have a headline-grabbing ballot initiative about marijuana legalization and a popular former two-term governor of a neighboring state, Gary Johnson, running a Libertarian Party presidential candidacy.

Where's Gary?

That story would have been so much better with a photo of the candidate.

But I guess I can't complain; it was otherwise very fair.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

First the Republicans were saying, "Don't vote for Johnson, it's a vote for Obama." Now the democrats are saying, "Don't vote for Johnson, it's a vote for Romney." I can't think of a better illustration of the fact that the two parties are really just two sides of the same party, and that they are both trying to suppress the Liberty movement.

Johnson & amendment 64 get my vote!

It's time people wake up and stop voting for candidates of the one party system. There was cheating at the state convention I witnessed first hand. Romney people made fake slates to look like RP slates. He is a complete sleaze and his ego trip may land him in the white house but not with my help. Think I'll join the local GOP for a sign wave but I'll have a Gary Johnson sign! It's also time we wake up and seriously investigate who owns the private prisons that are filled ith non violent drug offenders.......big banks........

Voting for Johnson

That should make the sheep scratch their head. Maybe you do have a choice after all. The Liberty movement can be the driving force of political policy. We can beat the old guard at their own game. Herding sheep.

That will make them high five and pat GJ on the back

Thank for getting those Ron Paul supporters off our backs and back into the margin where they belong.

+ 1 for a great comment.

for another one of your mindless thousands of useless self-bump comments.

Wishing that the Canadian Govt would wise up and deport your freeloading body back to your country of origin but I guess the market for fake Rolex hawkers is pretty slow these days and you probably couldn't do much else.

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul

- 1 for the Romney operative

RR ticket coming in 3rd place will be sweet.

Time for you to search for a new job.
I hear your pal Palin hires folks for the deer hunting season.

This story confirms what I have been saying about the...

"Johnson factor" only things may become even more intense than that. Gary Johnson was a VERY popular two term governor of New Mexico and it is quite possible Colorado, New Mexico, Maine, Nevada and, perhaps a few other states could actually become THREE men races.

I thought Colorado

Had a good libertarian lean too, but according to Heir Diebold they preferred more of the Christofascist type in the GOP primary. I'm not holding my breath for great results, even if GJ gets a nice turnout in Colorado.

its the Dems in Colorado

that have a libertarian lean

Haven't logged in for a while

but had to give this one a bump.

No, I'm still not a Johnson fan. ;D
