Rand Paul Headed to New Hampshire to Campaign for Mitt Romney

http://blogs.courier-journal.com/politics/2012/10/18/sen-ran...

WASHINGTON – Mitt Romney’s campaign is keeping Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., busy.

Paul this fall has made some solo and joint campaign appearances with Romney and his vice presidential running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc. The Kentucky senator recently campaigned on behalf of the ticket in the battleground state of Ohio.

On Saturday, Paul will be in New Hampshire, the Romney campaign has just announced. The senator is scheduled to speak Saturday afternoon at the “Durham Young Americans Victory Event” at the University of New Hampshire.

I gave you a thumbs up but

I gave you a thumbs up but you already had 3 thumbs down. No wonder Dr Paul didn't have a chance. With "supporters" like that who needs enemies?

I will not comment on anything with his name attached to an article ever again. I am sick and tired of hearing the name Rand Paul.

Ron Paul R[3]VOLUTION: Do we have any "Sick-Bags" on this flight?

Wisdom Strategies

Rand Paul is a distraction.

That's not to say he's good for the Liberty movement or bad for it...but his very involvement distracts us from the issues, and I'm sure the mental games that we are drawn into are the primary reason Romney chose him as him #1 lackey.

It's a lose-lose situation. Think about it.

If we stay with Rand Paul through his endorsement, some might say there is an implicit acceptance of Romney and his policies. Perhaps Romney and his handlers hope to co-opt the Liberty movement by convincing us to include more establishment Republicans. Perhaps they expect us to side with Romney ourselves.

On the other hand, if we disavow him, what will that do to the movement? Divide it of course! We'll have factions of Rand-supporters and non-Rand-supporters, and before we know it, we'll be our own worst enemies. That's not to mention that we'd be giving up on admittedly the best we have in the Senate.

Again, I advise you all to not worry about Rand - yet. We can watch how he votes and how he acts from a distance. We'll make our decision when 2016 rolls around. Until then, let's not get whipped into a frenzy. That's exactly what they want.

Yeah, I FULLY get the Establishment strategy...

but we MUST FLUSH OUT THE IMPURITIES. No matter how this benefits the Establishment... WE MUST FLUSH OUT THE IMPURITIES, SO WE DO NOT SUFFER THE SAME FATE AS THE TEA PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

right

I dont think it matters, what we do. Perhaps the more dpers criticise him the more accepted he will be in the minds of the evangelicals, whom Ron has said are not being convinced by us. Rand is getting nitty gritty on the inside whether we help him or not. With the route he has taken, he doesn't need our help, certainly not yet. Let him play out. Dont waste your energy getting caught up with him.

Thanks, Delvin, I fully agree.

Many of us are still in campaign mode, and the concept of standing by and watching things unfold seems anathema. I'm not saying do nothing, but I think it would be best to not get caught up with him until the next election cycle. There are plenty of local races to swarm and Liberty candidates to field in the mean time.

Also, I love your signature :)

CAN IT GET ANY WORSE? he

CAN IT GET ANY WORSE?

Rand is a hawkish neocon when it comes to iran, if you do not believe it.. then email him and see what he says:

Rand Paul:
The Iranian regime is engaged in the pursuit of nuclear weapons and supports terrorism across the globe. I supported S.Amdt.1414 because the sanctions are targeted to the regime's financing of those activities through the central bank and unlike other sanctions, not against the Iranian people.

Ouch

Damn those facts! Always getting in the way of some good old fashioned rabble rousing.

I kinda wish someone would put sanctions on OUR central bank.

Rand is Winning

the hearts and minds of republican voters and regarded as a leader in Kentucky's Republican Party and a real hero of the Tea Party movement. You can attack him on tactics but can't on betraying values – all humans can claim to be expert on values – but if attacking him on tactics is your goal at least post how many times you have successfully won an election. I wish he was my senator

Whoa boy!!!!!!

Just like the "WIN" in the amendment to stop foreign aid that went down 81-10!!!!!!!!! LEFTIST Rob Portman (swing state Ohio) WHO'S ON THE DEFICIT REDUCTION PANEL... voting HELL NO - SEND AID TO ENEMIES! Along with Kyl... WHO ALSO ONE OF SIX REPUBLICANS ON THAT SAME PANEL... voting HELL NO - SEND AID TO ENEMIES!!!!!!!

Oh... and BTW... Rand "playin' the game" Paul... HASN'T SAID A PEEP ABOUT PORTMAN'S VOTE, but has use DEMOCRAT no votes to bash DEMOCRAT Brown FROM THE SAME STATE!!

Yup, he's every bit as good a liar and scumbag as the neocons which he should have no problem identifying himself with and stop the pretence. Like you, shouldn't you be at romney central?

I just won my last election

I just won my last election and wont be whoring myself off or compromising my principles to get a win.

Some people put winning over pride and principles but winners come and go the Ron Pauls of the world and their message will live on forever. We may in the end agree to disagree but its food for thought.

I ask Rand supporters to rethink their positions and understand that he is on the wrong path. Yes winning is important but how you win and the principles you carry with you are what will lead people to support you.

You have to admire the THOROUGHNESS...

of Rand "playin' the game" Paul's disgraceful sellout. If you're gonna bend over, don't just slouch... GRAB THEM ANKLES!!!!!!

He is Romneys bitch now.....

and no friend of liberty! A wolf in sheeps clothing... nothing more

I'm actually glad we got that outta the way...

Just imagine if we would've backed him for 2016, not knowing what kind of man he would turn out to be.

If this was Ron..

Would we not all be at the keyboard frantically disavowing him? What the hell man? What is with the undue Rand love? He has been in the Senate for less than two years and we're giving him a pass on Iran sanctions, Romney/GOP endorsements and regurgitating establishment talking points. All because what--he's Ron's son, and we trust him to be merely planning strategically? These compromises do not make for strategy--they're just compromises. Where are the cajones? If you are awake, how can you go back.

Compromising principals for strategy, He didn't learn that from his father. Sounds more like a Paul Ryan way of life.

The sad thing here is; if his name was NOT "Rand Paul", he

would be crucified by EVERYONE on this board. END of STORY!

Idea

where ever Rand goes bring your Ron Paul gear, signs, and banners and wave support for his Father! I'm sure he'll appreciate it. haha

Actually with Rand's wry

Actually with Rand's wry sense of humor I think he just might get a good laugh.

Either Romney and the GOP are

Either Romney and the GOP are stupid, or they are still missing the big picture. Rand is using them to introduce himself to the die hard members of the GOP, the people he needs to win over to challenge Romney in 2016. If Romney kept Rand in the dark and didn't send him everywhere to meet the GOP sheep, Rand wouldn't stand a chance. Iowa and NH would be crucial if he were to challenge Romney. Come 2016 all of these disenfranchised GOP sheep are going to be looking for an answer and they will already be familiar with Rand.

It's mutual of course

But how will Rand Paul over take the political machine Romney's built? You're not being realistic. If and When Rand runs for the presidency, he'll have his own record he's built, his own teams, and likely more Tea Party and GOP support than Ron Paul ever had.

https://twitter.com/#!/Agonzo1

Rand will have little to no

Rand will have little to no mainstream GOP support.
His approval rating among mainstream Republicans is still much lower than Rubio.
Even with the 'Tea Party' voters, Rubio and even Jeb Bush poll higher.

If Rand Paul runs for president in 2016, his vote count will most likely be roughly the same as what Ron got in 2012. Rand will lose a lot of the anti-establishment vote that Ron did get and this will make up for any vote gains from the mainstream. Of course Rand has 4 years until then, and maybe he can somehow go viral and get tons of support, but I'm skeptical.

A lot can happen between now

A lot can happen between now and 2016, but my sense is that you're absolutely correct. The neocons have a strong majority in the GOP, and that's unlikely to change anytime soon. No way they'll go for Rand over Rubio or a dozen other neocon friendlies in 2016 no matter how many Grangers gain committee seats between now and then.

I don't think Rand's tactics are all about 2016 though. He's showing support in order to maintain party influence. Only time will tell how well this works. I'm skeptical but I wish him well.
