Abstract: If elections are the lifeblood of democracy, then the United States is a sorely ailing body politic. Ballot stuffing... intimidating voters, suppressing turnout, buying votes, and manipulating returns. Deliver the Vote is an intensive examination of the corrupt underbelly of American politics. Drawing on records of hundreds of elections from the pre-colonial era through the 2004 election, historian Tracy Campbell reveals how a persistent culture of corruption has long thrived in local, state, and national elections. Among the public figures whose stories are central to his chronicle are:

  • Boss Tweed
  • William Randolph Hearst
  • Huey Long
  • Harry Truman
  • Lyndon Johnson
  • Jimmy Carter
  • George W. Bush
  • ... countless local and state politicians of all parties.

Our elections are often held up as the model for the world's budding democracies to emulate. ... American history... shows how our democratic house has never been in proper order. Using a candid appraisal of our history as a guide, Deliver the Vote offers some surprising suggestions for a demoralized electorate to reclaim its democratic birthright.

subject. Jim Condit is also well-versed in it. This could affect men different than women, but what difference does it make if you only affect 1 gender if they're say 40% of the vote? Things could psychologically affect men and women differently. Voting machines cause there to be no record of your vote, no paper trail. Theres no way to perform a verifiable recount. There have been stories of elections where more votes were cast than people actually registered, or who actually voted. Jim Condit suggests that the voter do an affidavit, signed by a notary. Depending, notaries could charge for their signatures, but for the cause, or to get people in the door, they'll do it voluntarily.

It doesn't help when you vote on the same kind of machine that you order a sandwich on or whatever machines with touch-screens can do, like those that are at self-checkout. You shouldn't be equating your vote to ordering dinner, although you're doing the same action, touching the screen. You shouldn't be saying, oh well, I can't get mustard, oh well, my guy lost.

For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E.

Jim Condit got his start investigating crooked electronic voting in Cincinnati. Cincinnati is mentioned in the linked Forbes article. The election computers in Cincinnati used to be accessible to outside access by phone, modem. Since the 1980s. Look at his bio.

E Voting Machines

They should not be in Chicago (and elsewhere) anyway. Get rid of them all. Why is the public allowing these crooked politicians (Democrat & Republican) to steal our freedoms and this country?

Why aren't they being removed?

That would defeat the purpose. They want Romney to win, and those voting machine is how they're going to achieve their goal. That's what I think.

Let's see if Romney takes Ohio.

there needs to be a Constitutional amendment that bans electronic voting machines and prohibits any candidate's donors or campaign members from being directly involved in the vote-counting process. Ludicrous that this is allowed to go on and nobody sees a problem with it.
