Army Suicides This Year Exceed 2012 Combat Deaths in Afghanistan

(CNSNews.com) - The number of suicides among U.S. Army active duty and reserve personnel in 2012 is higher than the total combined military fatalities from Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan over the same timeframe.

Even without Army data for October, the number of deaths believed to be suicides among U.S. Army personnel from January through September still surpass the combined military combat deaths in Afghanistan from January up to October 22.

In 2012, there have been a total of 247 suspected suicides among Army active and reserve duty personnel. Of those, 158 have been confirmed as suicides and 89 remain under investigation

It took Bush, Cheney, Perle,

It took Bush, Cheney, Perle, Wolfowitz,Rice, Powell, Kissinger, Libby, Abrams, John Bolton ect. to lie about Iraq being involved with 9/11 or even having weapons of mass destruction but it was the corporate controlled news media that spread the lies.It was the majority of Americans who bought these lies. They lied about Kuwait but again the majority of Americans bought it.The slaughter of more than one million innocent Iraqi men, women and children's blood are on the hands of these American citizens. The government is to blame for the 500,000 Iraqi children who died from diseases and starvation because of U.S. sanction against Iraq before the start of the war.Our military using depleted uranium in bombs, missiles and other munitions which resulted in 500,000 Iraqi babies being born deformed and it is still happening today. The Wolfowitz Doctrine was the Plan for the New American Century. Today it is Which Way to Persia as the ultimate goal. The war with Iran will happen because what Henry Kissinger said was correct. "America buys war like children gobble candy." He also said, "military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy."

re Media Lies.

+1, well written post, = you wrote " it was the corporate controlled news media that spread the lies." Let us also add or mention another influential institution that incited the attacks, = the pro-zion churches, & neo-cons. They are a strong block, = of votes & resources, & grab many pulpits, thereby giving 'credence' to zion's plan, = for aggression & killings.

Please stop joining the military

And help our service men and women any way you can. When you get down on your knees every night and every morning pray for them especially. Sounds really bad out there.

re - Help, = VAW

+1, yes, first thing is to avoid joining = Because of the reason of undeclared & unjust wars. Otherwise the military is considered an honored role. There is no doubt there are many who need help, and the best folks who can provide it are those who have experience in the field, = VAW = (Veterans Against War), they are supportive, can provide guidance..

Suicide is up in general.

Suicide is up in general. According to the AFSP:
"This latest rise places suicide again as the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. Nationally, the suicide rate increased 3.9 percent over 2009 to equal approximately 12.4 suicides per 100,000 people. The rate of suicide has been increasing since 2000. This is the highest rate of suicide in 15 years."(http://www.afsp.org/)

"My heart weeps for them"

Some suicides happened

during the deployment when soldiers had not participated in combat operation yet. That shows that some suicide is not from stress or guilt or injury, but from sadistic treatment of other (older) soldiers.

Low ranking officers are afraid to rat out, because they are close to soldiers should combat operation occur. Then the soldiers would kill the rat....

My best friend, roommate and

My best friend, roommate and fellow soldier in the 101st Airborne Division hung himself back in March of this year. Another victim and statistic. I'm tired of losing friends. I'm out now and damn happy about that. End the wars. Bring our brothers and sisters home for good. I still have 2 years of IRR left. I will refuse to go back to war. I stand on my principles now.

A testimony to the success of SSRIs

Better depopulation tool than war - that is impressive! That is at least two years in a row, if I am not mistaken.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Thanks my friend

hahahahah good riddance.

hahahahah good riddance. Don't make your $$ as a trained killer and maybe I'll have sympathy for you.

Can we please stop pretending we respect baby-killers?

nobody was forced to enroll

nobody was forced to enroll in this war. Ignorance is not a valid excuse for committing terrible actions.

These suicides are a culmination of 10 years of lies coming to the surface. I am sure over 90% of our population does not care or pay attention to this. Most don't know, and those who do... don't care. They care more about blood rage and starting another war.

Pigs like you

make people kill themselves.

terrible comment

I'm a student at LSU's medical school, one of my classmates served in the Navy for 4 or 5 years before college. He didn't go to the middle east, he sat in a sub under the pacific, but he is a very intelligent and respectable person. He just knew he wasn't ready for college at 18 and joined the Navy, I'm glad he chose Navy as he ended up staffing a sub in the pacific for several years instead of suffering psychological scarring in Iraq or Afghanistan, but others like him did pick the army and are shown great respect, taught how to be a soldier and shipped off to a violent and dangerous new world. Once there what can they do? They just follow orders, try to protect one another and if possible keep their honor intact in the process. Then upon returning to the US they of course have physical or psychological scarring (such as another friend who refused his wife's request for fireworks at his wedding because he said he finds them to disturbing after going to war).

Most of our soldiers are pretty decent guys/gals who thought/think of the military as protectors of the weak & innocent; the politicians, planners, and generals are who are terrible people. I've been working on educating my Navy friend, trying to explain blowback and the damage we do to middle eastern nations and to our own troops with current policies. That is how we change minds and get more support for our cause; not through wishing them dead.

"...They just follow

"...They just follow orders..."

"Most of our soldiers are pretty decent guys/gals who thought/think of the military as protectors of the weak & innocent;"

Until they're given an order to occupy a foreign country full of brown people, or logistically support the gang doing the supporting (which you somehow feel absolves them of guilt. If I only drive the getaway car, or act as the in-house mafia shooting coach, am I somehow not an accomplice of their crimes?)

Kinda simplistic

RE " He just knew he wasn't ready for college at 18 and joined the Navy."

He just knew he hadn't spent enough time in school to be accepted in Medical College on grants or without. He just knew that the easy bypass is to let taxpayers pay for Affirmative-Action admission later.

I do not believe it is cool to wish ill

on anyone, even if you believe they have done something evil. None of us is perfect. Everyone has done something that will come back to bite them. No need to add more bad Karma to the mix.

You know what i think is

You know what i think is worse than *wishing* evil on people?

Actually *doing* evil to people... like occupying their land, raping their women, killing their children, or providing support to those that do any of the preceding.

But yea... I'M the asshole even though I've never killed anyone in my life nor voluntarily (this is key) provided support to anyone else who has done so. (eg: taxes I pay are stolen from me under threat. Hardly the same moral position of voluntarily joining the army).

You're not an a-hole

But to hide behind the argument that taxes are taken from you by force is hardly an excuse. You are still giving it up voluntary. Besides, many soldiers sign up voluntarily to protect this country and are forced, by order, into these wars not realizing what these wars are really about. What's worse? A soldier who doesn't realize the wrong he might be doing, or the financier who knows it's wrong and still lets his money be taken to continue the war? I believe we are all guilty here.

thats a good point.people

thats a good point.

Who we are is based on our actions, nothing more.

This makes me feel incredibly sad

As both a person who's been that low myself and as an American.

This is to be expected from

This is to be expected from an undeclared immoral war. It is difficult to cope when you are fighting endlessly for unclear objectives with no end it sight. Not to mention that during this time your teammates are losing their lives.

It is too bad that more Americans don't have awareness about this. Or if they do they might just brush it off as the price for war.
