Has anyone thought about how they're going to function in their local/state Republican parties if Romney wins or loses?

I'm having a tough time with this issue.

1. Romney wins: We have 8 years of being surrounded by people who love & support him. Sure, we can work on our own local candidates & issues, but there are those meetings where everyone's just so happy they have President Romney, while you are holding your stomach to keep from heaving.

2. Romney wins: The next RNC Convention is a love-fest for Romney. No need to pony up thousands to make a stand for liberty there. I can assure you, Mittens will have no competition in the primaries/caucuses, nor will any competition be allowed. See the new RNC rules for selecting delegates to the national convention.

3. Romney loses: We will be blamed. You know it. How do we pick up the pieces? Those new rules passed at Tampa will HAVE to be changed before the next convention, otherwise, we're not going to be given a shadow of a chance to attend as delegates.

4. Romney loses: We have to have a candidate YESTERDAY! We need to find our candidate & get him/her out there NOW! This time, it HAS to be someone thoroughly vetted, who wants to win & has an accountable staff. No more Jesse Bentons, or anyone like him. No more pulling back after major wins. We need a candidate who is a dominating debator.

So, those are the things going thru my mind. Honestly, if Romney wins, I can't see myself investing much of my time in the party....

My only reason would be to elect more liberty Republican National Committeemen & Committeewoman. That is the ONLY way to get power in that party.

Maybe

He had opportunity in the Democratic Party? One reason I joined the GOP was thinking I don't want to see America become a one party nation like communist China. I'm sorry what happened to your friend, it's our loss.

Neither was Bob Barr

when he pushed for the impeachment of Clinton. How do you think these things work?

Ron Paul and the Revolution

have only given some sheen of legitimacy to the GOP, this was a mistake. They can now claim bonafide conservative among their ranks. They can now claim that they are not war mongerers. The can now claim that they don't wish to trample on civil rights. We gave them legitimacy when they had none. Wake up, they have not changed and will not change. Staying with the GOP only benefits them while hurting the liberty movement.

If you do take over your local party, what then? Do you suppress the neocons and other similar types that run the party now like they suppressed us? Is that what you want to do, become that which you hate? Or do you want to support the neocons? Staying with the GOP only places you in a no win situation where you must violate your principles.

Back to undeclared

I will be going back to undeclared status win or lose after my election in NH. I am going to focus on fighting the national oligarchy by growing the new populist movement, of which the Liberty Movement is an important subset. It is the outsiders against the insiders.

well

you could stop being delusional, and quit playing politics. all this political nonsense has just helped invigorate the terrible republican party (see rand paul, etc.) now the world thinks the republican party is a small government party. this is a huge setback for real the liberty movement. quit playing a fixed game.

please!

disassociate yourself from that repulsive organization and denounce it loudly.

it is in our best interests

it is in our best interests that romney loses.

Well, if he loses, we can say,

I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe then we'll be able to take over the party, 'cause don't you think "they" will be so defeated they will be in shambles?

I would like to build the friendships & relationships I made with other delegates in Tampa. They are the coolest people & it would make life complete to have that effort be the nucleus of a phoenix rising from the political ashes.

I'm here in Nevada & Obamney is campaigning real hard here. What's so funny is that Zombie had NO presence here until lately. Token effort in the caucus, even though he won - go figure.... I don't see how Romboid can gather enough support to take the state. All the Ron Paul people are just sitting on their hands. Most will vote Johnson.

Saw these photos today. What a JERK Mittens was/is. I can't believe these are REAL photos & not something photoshopped to embarrass him. He would have been beaten to a pulp in the bathroom at most schools.

You are 100% Correct.

I have said all along it is not our fault they picked the wrong candidate. I will gladly take the blame and continue to press the real conservative candidates. I took no oath to support the nominee when I became a precinct delegate. I did so to help bring about a real change, not to go along with the status quo.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!

There is your local Constitution Party and/or your local Libertarian Party!

You can concentrate on BUILDING... instead of IMMERSING YOURSELF in paranoia, disappointment, compromise and INEVITABLE failure.

Rand Paul or Justin Amash

are our best choices, I think. Anyone else either doesn't hold public office or isn't popular enough. It makes Justin Amash pretty borderline, but he has the experience and the charisma, in my opinion.

I'd love to see Judge Napolitano or Tom Woods, but I doubt they would run. It's my fantasy to see them in the debates at some point, though.

Tom Davis needs to run in 2024.

Oooops.

No, Rand Paul will sell his own father for magic republican beans. He's removed himself from the equation.

romney loses

and we come in and say, blame US!! screw you!! your GOP is freakin dead!! You cant even beat one of the worst and most detrimental presidents in 1/2 a FREAKIN CENTURY without the help of Ron Paul's minority of wacky crazy nutjob supporters??

You make me laugh!

Actually...

We've tried to "rebuild." Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. It doesn't work.

Ask them the 5 whys test.

Ask them the 5 whys test. "Why are you blaming us?" Then, "Why is it that I split the vote?" Then ask, why and why again until they realize that the root cause is that Romney did get enough votes because of his issues stance.

This is why...

...we shouldn't flee the GOP, because it will be our job to call their attention to Romney's abuses from Day One, wake them up from the trance from him being a non-Obama dancing in the inaugural balls, and force the issue of the Constitution on the tea party to hold them to their rhetorical affirmation of it.

Not saying this can't be done outside the GOP, but why abandon the posts within the GOP when that can be a platform to wake conservatives up?

In a way, it will make our job easier if Romney does win, because it takes away the club of blaming us for more Obama, and then we can point right back at them when Romney starts expanding government.

Oh ... and I say, let's draft Judge Nap for 2016!

Excuse Me Dear

But don't you recognize that if Romney wins he will be the automatic R nominee in 2016? There will be no Republican Primary in 2016 just like there was no Dem primary this year. How can you say you hope Romney wins and that Judge Napolitano runs in 2016? Pay attention. Try a little bit harder, think it through, and it will come to you.

It's not a matter...

...of hoping Romney wins or Obama wins as if I would be thrilled by it. Either outcome is grave. I'm merely looking at the pros and cons of either occurrence and trying to think about what our response should be in either situation.

If we do not engage the conservatives/tea party and shine a spotlight on Romney's misadventures in government expansion, then you and I will have failed in our job of supporting Liberty, and the unopposed primary for Romney would be more likely. If we act as the voice of reason and warning in ALL parties, GOP and otherwise, then at least we may have a fighting chance of building on the foundation Dr. Paul and others have laid, and have a true primary contest.

I detect in your and the others' derisive, mocking tone that you have a visceral disdain for involvement in the GOP, and, of course, that disdain is not entirely undeserved. I refuse to shrink back into some Libertarian party 'Helm's Deep' as if it's our last refuge. No, there are many opportunities to educate and admonish the GOP from within, as well. If that's not your calling in the struggle for Liberty at this time; then fine. The condescending attitude that only efforts divorced from the GOP are worthwhile is not warranted, though. Perhaps you have not had the pleasure of winning many conservatives to the cause of Liberty? It isn't as pointless as some of you seem to think.

Micah

You my friend are cluuuuuuuless!

If romney wins, YOU, IF you ARE a public Ron Paul supporter, will be the laughing stock and ignored for decades. Wake up!

Jackson County Georgia

War is an instrument entirely inefficient toward redressing wrong; and multiplies, instead of indemnifying losses.
Thomas Jefferson

There will be fewer people laughing...

...if we keep pointing out how Romney is mirroring Obama. If we run and hide under some rock somewhere if Romney wins, that certainly won't help.

:)

No, I see the pros and cons of either Obama or Romney getting in. The advantage of Obama winning is that the conservatives will be a bit more awake and defensive still than they will if Romney gets in. I guess I was just looking at what we can do to underscore the expansion of government by Romney when it happens. If we won't shatter the illusions from Day One, who will?

Don't worry -- I certainly didn't vote for either of them. :)

I'm a member of my state's

I'm a member of my state's libertarian party, so I'll be functioning there. ;-)

About the only thing I know for sure about becoming violent...

I will deck the first Ahole who says I am responsible for Romney's defeat. ROMNEY is responsible for Romney's defeat and all those jackasses in the GOP who insisted they get their way, whether or not they had to lie, cheat, steal, intimidate, kidnap or assault anyone in their way. In fact, they will be damn lucky if the ONLY thing I do is deck them.

I Will Kiss the First Person That Blames us for Romney's Loss!

And say yes! Now you see that you need us don't you? Now you will listen to us because you HAVE TO!! Yes PLEASE please please blame us. and by the way, let's fire those John Boehner and Rience Priebus anti-liberty idiots. They really screwed us over by disenfranchising the real Republicans. - whaddya say fellas?

Ditto Caardvaark!

The only way we can regain credibility is being responsible for that scumbag losing.
How can anyone even consider sticking with this party after what they did to our delegates is beyond me.

I personally will have no allegiance to either of these corrupt parties ever again. I may on occasion vote republican but it will be the individual candidate I will support, not the party.

I agree. Let them blame us.

To blame us they have to admit that we are too big to ignore. And if they blame us, part of the story will be *why* so many votes went to third parties and writing in Ron Paul. Tell that story often and loudly.

If Romney wins then none of that happens. The lessons that Romney and the RNC elites learn are that cheating means winning, and that the issues Ron Paul kept annoying them with are issues they can safely ignore.

Yea, I'm gonna hold his feet

Yea, I'm gonna hold his feet to the fire!

I'm gonna whine, complain, stamp my feet and hold my breath until my face turns blue every time Rom does something anti-liberty, (which will be pretty much daily).

(Anybody who supports/votes Rom/Ryan and expect them to support the liberty movement is delusional.)

I get the 'feet to the fire'

I get the 'feet to the fire' excuse every time i show evidence and comparisons of Romney to Obama. Like that will actually happen.

Yep. Seems to me that if we

Yep. Seems to me that if we want to express our displeasure with his anti-liberty agenda, we should just withhold our votes this election. But that's just me.
