Why I Voted for Mitt RomneySubmitted by Muhammad Mossadegh on Wed, 10/24/2012 - 20:01
Had you going there didn't I? HAH!
Now for the real reason behind this post: explaining why I voted for the one and only Dr. Paul.
Last night at the 3rd Party debates Gary Johnson said something very true, which was,
"Look, we're hearing about wasting your vote right now. Wasting your vote is voting for somebody that you DON'T believe in. That's wasting your vote."
I DON'T believe in Socialism, so I voted against Barack Obama, the worst President in history.
I DON'T believe in Big Government Republicanism, so I voted against Mitt Romney, the worst Republican presidential candidate in history.
I DON'T believe in radical environmentalism or government controlled education, so I voted against Jill Stein.
Right now some DP'ers might be asking, "How could you use Gary Johnson's own quote and then vote against him?"
It's not because I don't like Johnson or don't think he's a real libertarian. I like Gary Johnson. He had great things to say in the third party debate and in the Republican primary debates and I'm sure he'd make a great President. There are two reasons why I did not vote for Gary Johnson:
1. I am a believer in Dr. Paul's "become the tent" strategy, which means that I want to advance the cause of liberty from within the Republican Party. Because of this, I see the Libertarian Party as a distraction and it is irrelevant to me.
2. The purpose of this presidential election, like all the others, is to vote for who I want to be the President. Between Governor Johnson and Dr. Paul, I would rather Dr. Paul be my President. It's that simple.
Just because I chose to write in Paul doesn't mean I'm intolerant of how other people chose to vote. I have full respect for all DP members who voted for Johnson, or even any of the other candidates. We all have our reasons.
Let me be clear: This post is a call of solidarity between all Ron Paul write in voters, Gary Johnson voters, and all DP'ers in general. We're all in this together, guys. The socialists and the neocons have taxed, borrowed, and spent this country into oblivion, and it's up to US to stand athwart history and yell, "STOP!" This is not about Gary Johnson. It's not even about Ron Paul. It was never about the candidates; all along it's been about PEACE, GOLD, and LIBERTY!
You know it, I know it, the DP'er who reads this after you knows it, so let's say it loud and say it proud,
