Foreclosed family watches helplessly as craigslist crowds strip house bare (VIDEO)

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A family in Woodstock, who just lost their home of 20 years to foreclosure and are preparing to move out, lost even more on Wednesday.

PHOTOS | Craigslist crowds ransack foreclosed family's home

And it was because of what they triggered when they posted a craigslist ad Tuesday night.

Their online post was just a well-meaning ad for a giveaway in their driveway outside the small house, a giveaway scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

But big crowds showed up and ended up taking practically everything inside the house, too.

Same thing happened up here.

I saw an ad that said "moving, everything can go can go for free" and listed an address. Then in a remarkable follow up they went out to do some errands LEAVING THE HOUSE UNLOCKED.

I arrived to much the same scenario, people all over the place, most everything was gone but there were some guys rolling up the carpet and another guy was getting started pulling all the switch plates. Why do people do that? How much do you get for a used switch or duplex face plate?

The home owner pulls in screaming her head off, screaming at me and the people there "WHAT DID YOU TAKE! I WANT IT ALL BACK!" Hey lady sorry but the place was empty when I got here. She started screaming "YOU STAY RIGHT HERE, I'M CALLING THE COPS" and I said you stay right here and call the cops, I'm going home.

I guess it was her son who tried to intervene and block my path and I said look son, what your mom made was a big mistake and it cost you but right now you are about to make a way bigger mistake and it's gonna cost you.

Yeah it really is too bad. Some neighbours came by to kinda help comfort her and I split. There wasn't a garsh-dang thing I could do. This woman had no malintent but like so many human all over the world each day, she forgot to flip her internal switch off STUPID.

Is it so unreasonable to think somebody could have left a whole house full of perfectly good stuff behind? NOPE, people in foreclosure do it all the time. They go into this denial ting and get overwhelmed to the point where they will leave a cold soda behind in the fridge and take their last dollar and buy a Big Gulp at 7-11. People leave the kids birth certificates, they leave family albums.

Oh well. Unfortunately the wording the woman in my case was looking for was "everything in the pile outside is for free", about the same as this yutz. One thing we can say for absolute certain is THESE FOLKS AIN'T NO PREPPERS.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

2nd Amendment

How obvious is it that we need our 2nd amendment rights uninfringed.

They should have been armed,

They should have been armed, if they were I guarantee the giveaway recipients would have dropped the stolen goods instantly and run away as fast as they could.

Terrible thing to happen.

But it was an awful idea to put it on craigslist. Couldn't they have donated to Goodwill or something?

I know for a fact that Goodwill picks up things at your house if you have at least one large item, like a couch or computer desk.

+1. Goodwill

Now, that's a giveaway.

Now, that's a giveaway.

Presence seems definitely, strongly to be recommended these days.

geez

The poor bastards. It's hard to feel sorry for him after reading his craigslist post. I hope he learned his lesson.

I think a locked home is a good

indication that possessions inside the home were not meant to be given away, but just the free stuff outside in the driveway marked free stuff. No one has a right to break into another's home. Those people are guilty of breaking and entering and larceny. How were those people raised such that they could have so little integrity? Maybe I'm thinking of Russell Means back in April, his reading George Catlin's Creed:

Maybe they thought the house inside was full of Obama phones ?

Maybe they thought the house inside was full of Obama phones ?

Misled, they couldn't leave hands empty, could they ?

The "FREE STUFF" concept is very "en vogue" nowadays. Anywhere and anyhow.

Right, Barack ?

I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

Are you condoning the illegal behavior of those who broke into the family's house and stole all their belongings?

No. This was sarcasm.

No. This was sarcasm.

Getting "FREE STUFF" by any means (from anywhere or anhywhom) is a very popular, encouraged idea in any society gearing towards socialism.

So much that random people won't mind to confuse, conveniently enough, "breaking into a house to get free stuff" with "yard giveaway".

Hence my reference to the Obama phones story and president ObaMARX.

I could have showed up at this guy's house. But seeing that mob doing WHAT THE MOB DOES BEST, I would have been one trying to get some cops DO THEIR JOB, on that one.

I see. I agree.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The giveaway... Would have been lovely if they had done it with impeccable intent.
Anyway, have these people NEVER had a yard sale? You can NOT leave your home once you start to put things outside. And, as noted before, craigslist can be very useful, and very dangerous.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

The comment section had me LOLing

John Renick wrote, "Well this poor couple is probably not the first and won't be the last, look at THIS Craigslist ad running in the Washington DC area: 'LOST OUR LEASE / EVERYTHING MUST GO - thought we would be renewing for another 4 years but moving back to Hawaii after 20 January 2013, c'mon by and help yourself, lots of free cellphones, stimulus checks (never cashed), boxes of food stamps too. 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, ask for Barky or Mo'"

To that, Frankie Jones replied, "Well, not exactly correct. Moochie will be moving back to Chicago with the kids while Barry goes to Thailand to indulge in gay sechs."

I would have sympathy for

I would have sympathy for these people but, "when they posted a craigslist ad..."

Probably the worst thing you could do.
