RT to host final US presidential third-party debate

Libertarian Party candidate Gov. Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein will sound off once more before Election Day, with both presidential hopefuls now slated to debate live from RT’s Washington, DC studio on October 30.

Tens of thousands around the globe watched earlier this week when broadcasting legend Larry King moderated a debate between the top third-party candidates live from Chicago. As those politicians continue to be shunned by the mainstream media and political establishment alike, though, they remain excluded from presenting their platform to the country on the eve of a historic election. RT aims to make a difference, however, and will host Johnson and Stein to speak their minds on the topics Americans really care about in 2012.

Following the success of this week’s Third Party Presidential Debate broadcast on RT live from Chicago, the top candidates as selected by voters on the Free and Equal Elections Foundation website will move on to a second debate from the nation’s capital, this time answering questions dedicated solely to foreign policy.

“The voters have spoken, and we are pleased to announce that Gary Johnson and Jill Stein will advance to the second debate,” Christina Tobin, founder and chair of Free and Equal, tells RT.

VOTE AT http://www.ronpaul.com/

To "write in" Ron Paul would be a total waste for many of us.
So I guess the GOP has managed to SPLIT the vote BIG TIME.
You can't herd cats I guess.
Too bad...so sad. We could have made a better impact.
But there may never again be anyone like Ron Paul to vote for.
At least not for a very very long time.
My belief is that Ron Paul will be voting for Gary Johnson.
He has all but come right out and say it.

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

Don't Vote For ROMNEY

Whatever you do, do what you can to prevent Mitt Romney from winning. This is the most disasterous choice by far.

Look at the straw poll

Look at the straw poll numbers in my sig line... My poll indicates a closer split between Paul and Johnson.

Just reread the RT article

"Following the success of this week’s Third Party Presidential Debate broadcast on RT live from Chicago, the top candidates as selected by voters on the Free and Equal Elections Foundation website will move on to a second debate from the nation’s capital, this time answering questions dedicated solely to foreign policy."

Why foreign policy? They differ little on foreign policy, as best I can figure. Domestic policy would be a far better topic, it would seem to me.

Voting Virgil Goode

The prolife position is a deal breaker for me. If liberty and right to life is not protected on behalf of our most defenseless citizens, then no one's life and liberty is secured...it is all a sham. Jill Stein and her "free, free, free" college education bothered me. She's an intelligent woman; surely she knows that the taxpayer foots the bill for everything the government calls "free." Anyway, Goode was not saying what he thought people wanted to hear, stuck to his convictions (a rarity for a Washington DC veteran), and has a good reputation for honesty and consistency in his home state of Virgina (sound familiar?). I also like it that he is giving Romney a run for his big money in the state of Virigina. Dr. Paul was the whole package for me, but alas, no write-ins in Louisana, so Virgil Goode is Plan "B" for me. Anyone but Obama AND Romney!

Very well said

RP says "Unless we understand…we must protect life, we cannot protect liberty."

We can't write in Ron Paul here either so I imagine I will be voting Goode. It is unfortunate that he is not well spoken in the debate process. But it seems to me that principle is worth more than speech. And the life principle is the deal breaker for me as well. If the Libertarian Party had only adopted Ron Paul's 2012 platform, I would have been on board in a a flash.

Am I the only one here who sees a serious PR perception problem

with a station called Russia Today hosting a U.S. Presidential Debate?

So we seriously need that kind of bad publicity?

The quality of the reporting is entirely irrelevant here.

Your not only not going to win anyone over you need to win over, you are going to LOSE voters by participating as a candidate.

Jill Stein on that channel makes sense and would be expected.

Gary Johnson isn't shooting himself in the foot.

He's committing political suicide.

What's wrong with

What's wrong with Russia?

They have a center-right government. Russian libertarian Andrey Illiarionov helped bring in a flat tax. The result? Russia is doing very well.

The old days of the USSR are long over.

Reality is irrelevant in politics. Perception IS reality in

politics.

This is disasterous.

They already won that game

Have you seen the old interview by G. Edward Griffin of former KGB spy Yuri Bezmenov who defected to the US? They already took over. Now we have to take it back. I wouldn't be surprised if Putin, who kicked all the Rothschild oligarchs cannibalizing post-Soviet state assets out or jailed them, is nudging us in the right direction.

RT is definitely funded in part by the state of Russia. You should never 100% trust any source and while I love most of Abby Martin's material, for example, she is for some gun control. Whether that's her personal view or some kind of agenda is for the discerning, critical thinking liberty minded individual to determine for themselves.

Knowing Better

http://www.dailypaul.com/260270/agenda-grinding-america-down... says something different about Putin.

The reason Ron Paul was marginalized was because he was the real deal. Other give mixed messages...2 steps forward...1 step back... 2 steps forward...1 step back equals how many steps forward?

IMO it is important for individual Friends of Liberty to understand not to swallow lies encased in truth; i.e. a piece of poison candy?

I would think the Liberty Movement is a target for subversion and I don't hear many people talking about it. I may be missing it though. I don't think the communists are in the habit of having things taken away from them. That is usually when public cleansing starts?

Thank you for the link. I have listened to both Griffin and Bezmenov before, but I don't think I have heard the interview.

RT America is just the "label" on the package

The question you should be asking is, "What perception is there of the US media who refuse to cover THEIR 3rd Party Candidates?"

Have we not heard the saying, "Don't shoot the messenger" enough yet. Are you seriously demonizing International exposure of these Candidates just because the American focused media outlet has the word "Russia" in it?

I could care less if it was "North Korea Today" as long as it was delivering an uncensored spotlight on US affairs that the US is clearly censoring its own populace from.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

If "North Korea Today" were the only one carrying the 3rd Party

debate, and other "normal" "mainstream" American channels were not, are you completely oblivious to the perception that people will have that therefore those 3rd party candidates are the "enemy" and "bad for America?"

Perception is everything here.

RT isn't the BBC. Not yet anyway. It's bad enough the outlet is foreign. The only thing worse would be Iranian state TV being the sponsor.

"Perception" is your individual right

I follow RT and have learned from that channel more of what's going on in the world than any other "alternative" media out there so far. MY PERCEPTION is that they are doing a great service to the American and Global audience by talking about the real issues that Corporate American Media is NOT. Watch Abby Martin's show 'Breaking the Set' on youtube.

Focus on what you think, not others' perceptions. Let them make up their own minds about what they're getting from RT.

If you think "foreign" things are so bad then I suggest you start throwing out most of everything you own since it's most likely from China and that includes your TV and computer.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

You still don't get it. It's not MY perception that is the

problem.

It is the GUARANTEE that MILLIONS of people will have a negative perception of Johnson because of this.

It is THEIR perception that you can't solve or fix with this that is the problem.

The only way to avoid this is to not participate if RT is a sponsor or hosting it.

It isn't about me, or you. It's about how millions of voters are going to perceive the event, especially if the MSM uses that perception to turn people off of considering Johnson.

This is a guaranteed vote loser.

Oh I get it

What I'm saying is that YOU should not concern yourself with THEIR perception. There are also millions of people who look past dumb labels and listen to Truth no matter what the outlet is.

If some people out there are more concerned what the name of the network is that's actually giving the 3rd parties a voice rather than the voice that those 3rd parties have, so be it. People of "that" mentality are not ones to look at a 3rd party too seriously anyways and vote Status Quo.

By your definition, I should be telling Ben Swann to go F himself just because he works for a FOX affiliate and I'd be missing out on all the Truth he's bringing to people just as RT is on a DAILY basis.

Have some perspective. There are bigger issues than "the Russians".

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

No, you still do NOT get it. Telling me not to be concerned is

irrelevant.

This will cost votes.

It looks bad.

It can NOT be explained away to these folks.

And they will number more than you think.

Well then you keep dwelling on "how it looks"

and not at what the real amazing opportunity this is for these candidates to have a public national voice that is not available anywhere else... at all... Maybe Ralph Nader's debate will be more to your liking with the 3rd party candidates—a two-hour debate on Sunday, November 4, 7:30 p.m. at Busboys and Poets restaurant located at 2021 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009.

Since we seem to be able to agree to disagree, why don't we better use our time to promote that debate?

RT moved their 2nd debate to the 5th from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time, (November 6, 1:00 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. GMT).

Take care.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

If the "opportunity" comes with the guaranteed risk of losing

voters how much of an opportunity is that?

Especially if the reason is centered on making yourself toxic to anyone who finds out who sponsored the debate?

That's an opportunity alright. An opportunity to relegate yourself to "persona non grata."

I'm not about to promote a U.S. Presidential Debate hosted by Russia Today.

No way. No how. Forget it.

I'm not putting my name or reputation on it.

That is pure lunacy.

Ok then
