Politico: Obama slams Ayn Rand

"President Obama took aim at one of Rep. Paul Ryan's favorite writers, the libertarian icon Ayn Rand.

Asked by Rolling Stone if he's ever read Rand, Obama said "sure."

'Ayn Rand is one of those things that a lot of us, when we were 17 or 18 and feeling misunderstood, we'd pick up," Obama said. "Then, as we get older, we realize that a world in which we're only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about anybody else, in which we're considering the entire project of developing ourselves as more important than our relationships to other people and making sure that everybody else has opportunity – that that's a pretty narrow vision.' Obama epitomizes definition of Ayn Rand's "looter and moocher."

Obama's selfishness is no virtue.

opportunities for others

...making sure that everybody else has opportunity

What method does Obama want to employ in order to make sure other people have opportunities?

He forgot to finish his thought.

...making sure that everybody else has the opportunity to get screwed by my 1% bankster friends through forced corporate welfare and deflation of our currency.

I can fix it

"Then, as we get older, we realize that a world in which we're only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about killing or forcing anybody else, in which we're considering the entire project of developing ourselves as more important than our relationships to killing and forcing other people and making sure that everybody else has an opportunity to be forced at gunpoint or kill masses overseas – that that's a pretty narrow vision.' "

Here's something else he did in his youth

"Obama has also written and talked about using alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine during his teenage years to "push questions of who I was out of my mind".[24] Obama was also member of the "choom gang", a self named group of friends that spent time together and occasionally smoked marijuana.[25] At the 2008 Civil Forum on the Presidency, Obama expressed regret for his high-school drug use.[26]".

The greatest irony (apparently lost on Obama supporters) is a president who used to use "illegal" drugs is now responsible for policies that continue to send kids and adults exactly like himself to prison.

There are a lot of great ways to criticize Ayn Rand.

But Obama can't figure them out because he's an Atheist who's never gotten over using force to take what he covets.

He believes with his whole being that ridicule is an effective political weapon, so he goes to it over and over again. He just can't get over himself. Eventually his camp loses the debate, and all that ridicule comes back to haunt them. (Ooops)

Ridicule makes us STRONGER, because we can relate it back to a mans covetous nature.

If only that were true, it would be the only belief of his I'd be in agreement with.

"But Obama can't figure them

"But Obama can't figure them out because he's an Atheist"

What does this have to do with anything and what are you implying about ME?

What have I implied about you?

Ayn Rand is one of my favorite authors. I quote her regularly. She had brass balls and told people some hard truth. She had guts, and guts are enough.

Not ALL Atheists turn into what she turned into; only the ones who can't get over themselves as a creator who's getting looted by all the soulless animals around them.

Not everybody succumbs to their sociopathic nature and tries to "turn out the lights" on all the people they hated.

Not an atheist. He is a theist just like you -- face it and take it like a man.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

I guess I'll just have to take that ridicule like a man.

And give it it's due regard.

Obama's an atheist now?

What happened to him being a Muslim? Where'd Jeremiah Wright go?

Not to mention, you say this as if atheists have a long history of taking by force or even being in a position to be able to take by force.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Point me towards my "muslim and Jeremiah Wright posts?

Like I said. Ridicule really isn't an effective weapon.

He's no Muslim

He was raised by a Secular Humanist and that seems to be his real religion.

He's just smart enough to know that's not what he can tell people. If you're trying to fund abortion clinics in black neighborhoods, you need to hide behind faith.

As Margaret Sanger said; we need to use black preachers to soothe peoples minds. A Godly man is building "healthcare for poor people", a Secular Humanist is building meat grinders.

Margaret Sanger...

was one of THE biggest eugenicists in recent memory. Seems like she would be the one building meat grinders if anything.

She was a devout Catholic from birth, by the way.

I don't play, I commission the league.

"She was a devout Catholic from birth"

So we're born devote Catholics?

Come on now... Nobody who's that big into eugenics and baby killing is a Catholic anything. If she pretended to be one, it was for the same reason Obama pretends, she's smart, and knows she needs to hide behind faith and black preachers while she executes her eugenic agenda.

Do you not notice that it's the Catholics who seem to have a problem with abortion, and who secular humanists now want to blame?

This is an Ayn Rand thread, and I love her, so let's bring it back to her words:

"Don’t set out to raze all shrines – you’ll frighten men, Enshrine mediocrity - and the shrines are razed."

This is one of the things Ayn Rand talked about. Exalting the grotesque and mediocre in order to destroy a shrine to greatness.

"Laugh at Roark and hold Peter Keating as a great architect. You’ve destroyed architecture. Build Lois Cook and you’ve destroyed literature. Hail Ike and you’ve destroyed the theatre. Glorify Lancelot Clankey and you’ve destroyed the press."

Call Margaret Sanger a Catholic and you've destroyed the Catholic faith...

I'm sure a secular Humanist would love nothing more than to have a devote "Catholic" out there preaching eugenics, genocide, and every other disgusting secular agenda Obama projects.

WTF are you talking about?

Your ramblings about black preachers and secular humanists honestly make no sense.

Look it up: Sanger was born to and raised by two Catholic parents in a Catholic household (although her father later left the church). Maybe eugenics just isn't a religion-vs.-atheism thing, and both sides have their extremists. Have you considered that at all?

I don't play, I commission the league.

What am I talking about; eugenics, genocide and fake faith

My ramblings...

Margaret Sanger knew that there would be certain people within the black community who understood what the eugenics movement was doing, so she wanted to enlist "people of faith" to smooth out any dissenting voices who mistook what she was doing for genocide.

Like I said; when a person of faith is building free abortion clinics, it called "healthcare for poor people", when an Atheist does it, they're building meat grinders for soulless animals and genetic trash. Does it surprise you that she called herself a Catholic? Wouldn't YOU?

Have you considered anything I said or are you going to just cover your eyes and try to ridicule me like all Atheists? Self worship isn't the answer to the problem you have on your hands.

Didn't you get the memo?

There is a group of fundies on the DP who insist on labeling everyone and everything they don't like as "Atheist".

They, like all the other 'factions' on the DP seem to love making blanketed statements and coming up with their own definitions of words, yet turn around and bitch at others for doing the same. (inb4 'collectivist', which is quickly becoming the new 'racist'. People, whether by force, nature or definition, will *always* be part of some 'group').

It's all human nature, really. Oh well...

Personally I always figured Obama wasn't observant of any particular religion, given that the ruling class only seem to worship power.

A signature used to be here!

Well said, because Obama has

Well said, because Obama has the maturity level of a 17yr old.

"A world in which we're only thinking about ourselves and not thinking about anybody else.."

Let me fix that for you Barry.
