Positive Energy – Love, Freedom, and Liberty
Positive energy individuals allow others the freedom to make their own choices. The USA was founded on the principal of free choice of the individual, provided those choices did no harm to another person, or their property, or the planet. Everyone is allowed freedom of choice and the individual must be responsible for the consequences that follow those choices.

The only penalties in this kind of system come in restraining those who do HARM by their choices. People are meant to make choices, learn from their choices, and then try again for better results. In this system you take care of yourself and your own needs. There are no handouts.

Negative Energy – Fear, Power and Control Over Others
Negative energy individuals feel it is their right to control others. In fact they get ENERGIZED by creating FEAR in others. For example a rapist gets lots of energy from his brutal act, and seeks more energy by repeating the aggression. The Taliban, communist nations, Nazism, Fascism, are more examples of power control people. They rule by creating FEAR in people. Negative energy people feel entitled to force others to serve them and their belief system. The consequences for not following the belief system can be death, as happened in Hitler Germany if you did not perfectly fit their idea of someone worthy to live. Being old or disabled is not being worthy to live. The Taliban shoot those who speak out for a belief other than what THEY teach.

Socialism starts out benevolently but it leads to communism. It reduces everyone to the same level of subsistence poverty. Remember feudal Britain and Europe? Our ancestors came to North America to start again FREE of that enslavement and taxation system implemented by the ruling class. Brutality, power, control is a dark thread throughout history from the pharaohs to the present day communist nations, where people live in FEAR of having a wrong look on their face that might be interpreted as speaking against the government. In this system even thought and speech are controlled.

These two types of ENERGY are at the opposite ends of a dipole. Most people fall somewhere between the two extremes. Hitler was one extreme of negative controlling energy. Jesus was the other extreme of loving compassionate energy that allowed others choices and did not judge. There are basically two opposite paths back to God, the positive-love energy path and the negative-fear energy path.

The negative path is dark because it does not seek the light of God. It places its own wisdom above the wisdom that comes from seeking God's light and guidance within. God allows free choice and the dark path is allowed. The Earth is a free choice planet.

There are forces in the present world that wish to reduce the entire planet to a fascist negative energy system with the masses treated like a herd of cattle in an industrial complex, all headed for the slaughter as they lose their “usefulness” as workers and providers for the negative energy, power-control, elite of the world.

Those who are choosing socialism would be wise to look at the larger picture of where the “freebies and gifts” are leading. There are many negative entities who actually want to make the world exactly like Hitler Germany. Take a look at some of the death panels being established in Britain and the USA to determine WHO is worthy to live. Take a look at those clauses already in Obamacare.

Now I guess this is preaching to the choir, because everyone here knows this stuff, and we will never give in to loss of freedom. This post is just on the off chance others who need to know might read it and not vote for the nanny state that leads to communism, and a brutal system our ancestors came here to escape.

Let us just see published, plain simple economic FACTS, shall we ?

I. The Borloo Housing Plan is a nightmare

(I was born in Le Havre, Normandy, France)



"Do you remember Borloo houses ? Houses starting at EUR 100,000 (approx. $130,000) for the poorest households.

The plan was launched in late 2005.

In Le Havre, 171 houses were to be built "Borloo". The first houses were delivered in July 2012 ... and it is a disaster!

To say the owners are disappointed is an understatement! All cry at the SCAM ... their houses are full of defects (leaks, cracks, doors and shutters that do not close, etc, etc ....).

"We feel that it will collapse in a few years," said one mother. (See video)

Yet, the program had been approved by the government.

The promoter, "the New Urban Workshop", is located in the Paris region. They had the bad idea to entrust the building houses a business in Latvia, which was the first project in France.

The CEO of New Urban Workshops recognizes that this program "is a fiasco for everyone."

"This company discovers Latvia French regulations regarding hygiene and safety, she had problems with the labor inspectorate, and she had problems with supply and transportation ...." CEO explained to our team.

The city of Le Havre has all stopped with this promoter in Paris. And take retaliatory measures.

Until all problems are solved, they [the promoter] will no longer work with the city of Le Havre, the mayor said.

In Le Havre, the dream of a house at 100,000 euros was too good ..."

II. Continuing decline by 7.8 %, as of October 2012, for yearly car sales in France

III. The mark of 3 million unemployed has indeed been passed

One can verify easily the highest unemployment rates AND trends occurred all along or near the end of EVERY SINGLE socialist government mandates.

(Happening yet again under Hollande's administration in 2012.)

Suppose you did some major work for a client, and he now owes you $10,000. Are you truly indifferent as to whether he pays you $10,000 now, or $10,000 twenty years from now? If so, you can truly be said to be against usury. But if you think your client should have to pay you some sort of penalty for delaying his payment of $10,000 then you are effectively demanding interest on the 20 year loan of your $10,000 to the client. So in that case you favor usury after all.

Here is my assumption

* You believe that loaning out some money and receiving the money back at a later date, plus interest is defined as usury

Is this right? If so:

Imagine you work for a week (40 hours), at $10 per hour. You receive $400. (Let's ignore tax, cos we already got rid of the state in this mental experiment)
Your costs for living that week come to $390, like every other week. You could have spent the extra $10 on some extra food for your family, but you instead decided to delay that gratification, and save the money.
After ten weeks of this, you have $100 saved. You have planned to go out tomorrow and purchase a new dinghy, so you can take your children fishing, and teach them how to fish.

Suppose now a friend of yours comes to you and asks "Hey, man, I'm super desperate. My house flooded, and if I don't pay for the repairs/drying now, the wood is gonna rot, and it will cause thousands of dollars of damage. I know you had some money saved up, could I please borrow it? I can pay you back in ten weeks time."

You consider this. The man is your friend, and you don't want to let him down. But on the other hand, you don't want to let your family down either.
Why? Because you already delayed your gratification when you saved the money in the first place. If you lend it out without interest, you are further delaying your gratification (the use of your money) and getting nothing in return. You have to wait a further ten weeks before you can use your money, and you have to wait a further ten weeks before you can enjoy the fruits of your labor (your boat) and teach your children how to fish.

The interest you may choose to charge your friend, is actually an earned payment. It is earned because you have to delay your gratification for longer. You have lost ownership of your resources for ten weeks, while somebody else is able to use it.

With your post, are you claiming that it is wrong for a person to ask for a payment to compensate for their loss over that time? (The interest).

Human beings have time preference.

I would like to give you $1000.
Would you like $1000 now, or $1000 in 1 years time?
You would probably pick the $1000 now, right?
Well, how about I offer $2000 in one years time?
Well, how about $5000 in one years time?
Maybe now you want to wait?

Everybody is different, but the point is that people prefer money now to money later. It's actually defined as a different good altogether.
(In the same way that ice-in-winter is different from ice-in-summer. The price is radically different)

So if someone is using your money for that year, it costs you the use of that money for that period of time, depending on your level of time preference. The interest you charge compensates for your inconvenience, and inability to use the money yourself and enjoy the fruits of your labors.

One more thing: Imagine in my first example that
a) the friend was a stranger
b) that he could not pay back the money until 10 years had passed

Still the same analysis?

Also, are you aware that some people don't pay back the loan? So how would a professional loan business ensure that they can continue operations.

If 'usury' was banned, then money would not be loaned. If it was, then it would not be at anywhere near the levels that demand required.

(Please note that if you gain a sense of gratification from lending to your friend and helping him out, then that can validly be considered interest. But note that this would be voluntary. It also depends on your time preference.)

(Also how can you quote Marx and Ron Paul on the same post? Their philosophies are diametrically opposed. Ron Paul does not support the banning of 'usury' whatsoever. He is objecting to the forcing upon us all of the Federal Reserve Note, by the Fed. We have no choice but to engage in the loan system there, and to top it all off, the Fed never saved that money up in the first place!)

DP upholds the principles of Liberty, where we exchange & share news & views. It is the market-place of ideas & opinions, = freedom of thought & no-coercion. With Faith or without faith. Its a choice.

Differences of opinions (or religion-$) come to the fore when we talk of Law - EnForcement, re fulfillment of contract. This has been discussed in the article (link) you posted, = where the lenders want the proverbial "pound of flesh" as demanded by Shylock, = a term made famous by Shakespeare's play "The Merchant of Venice".

For the record, while, through my study of economics, I believe that loaning with interest is indeed beneficial to society, I have absolutely no problem with those who choose not to participate in that system, for whatever reason.

This is the core issue I see with the Fed, and the global network of corporatist-financial-military-industrial-educational-governmental criminals that run things. The issue is that we have no choice. Their dollars are forced upon us, and so we are all forced to participate in their system (which is absolutely not holy!).

But should two parties to an exchange voluntarily set a price on that exchange; ie one person has $100 and another wants to borrow this, and they both agree on a 10% rate of interest, I can see no moral issue there. The exchange is voluntary; it requires no force.

My argument above re: religious reasoning is that you have simply declared that interest is 'anti-faith' etc etc. Do you have a rationale outside of faith itself for this position? Otherwise your argument goes like this:
"My faith says that usury is wrong because.... it is wrong"
"I believe that usury is wrong, because I believe in my faith, and my faith says that usury is wrong."

There are issues of time and language at work

Ribah (SP) was a term translated as usury.

You borrow 100oz Gold form me. You get 80 ounces but you owe me one hundred. This was called ribah and was unlawful.

The interest on the money rented was not unlawful, Nor was charging high interest unlawful.

If I borrow 80 ounces of gold for you to demand repayment of 100 was considered a cheat. You could give the lender back his 80oz and still own a hundred. It's not fair.

This is different from me borrowing 80 ounces and repaying you after the transaction out of the profits at the agreed upon interest rate.

The Prophet, with a due respect, was a merchant. Much of the Quran involves making contracts and fulfilling obligations.

I would consider a bank charging closing fees to be Ribah. That is usury in the ancient sense. I don't know of any who agree with me, including Najam.

Charging interest on paper money created by fiat is a cheat in my opinion.

My boy lends the other $100 but keeps $20 demands $100

This was Ribah(sp) according to some ancients, if I understand correctly.

Loan $80 and demand $80% plus a rental rate. In the first case injustice seems obvious. In the second case the sound merchant pays the principal plus rental with profits.

A man desperate enough to borrow $80 and owe $100 demands consideration.

Paul_S, thanks for the good wishes. Some 30 months back when I first logged on DP - you and Theo-Van were the first to discuss usury with me, and I mentioned it is a tiring subject. On an-other thread HvTech said a few minutes back - that it is contentious. So I feel enough has been said, actually - too much.

I think is sum or average of up-down votes. I don't give it much mind.

I understand the contention and find it distracting.

My point is that we may have to go back further than Islam to get at the root of the notion of usury. I suspect that usury, whatever it was technically, was frowned upon since ancient times.

From a marketing perspective it would be rude to any Muslim customers to be ignorant of proper manners while trading.

...very much your posts. Others do as well. You offer something very unique...often from a different and equally valid perspective as well as a culture and religious background that are represented by only you. Your voice is therefore a gift to the DP.

Score is not an indicator of the "depth of reception" or its significance to the receivers. (LOL...over my five years here my reception meter goes up and down like a bouncing ball. Funny, but seems when I am on a learning curve it goes down...when I am totally singing with the choir, it goes up. There is a lesson in that as far as relating to the score. Many of my mentors, past and present, on the DP have low scores because new information is not always processed immediately nor received enthusiastically. I am not a mentor so my learning curve low scores probably reflect that I am not making much sense at the time. Haha...know thyself! You make sense....forget the scores!)

You need to dig a little deeper.

Although you are correct in saying that "socialism starts out benevolently but it leads to communism", the truth is that most modes of civilization were initially developed to be benevolent for their societies, but ALL have thus far been doomed to failure. Unfortunately, the reason is because humankind has not yet learned to live according to the Golden Rule; to do unto others as we would have done unto ourselves. Unless we can begin to adhere to that simple philosophy, there is NO "ism" in the world that can save us from ourselves - including libertarianism. Any and all modes of civilization will ultimately fail without it. And yes, Positive Energy IS the foundation for the Golden Rule.

Agree about positive energy

Positive energy is a more highly evolved energy; heart level and above. Heart energy is love and compassion and above that level the focus is spiritual. As you said: "Positive Energy IS the foundation for the Golden Rule."

Negative energy is below the heart level; energy focused on EGO, power, control, acquiring worldly things such as wealth, emotion, sexuality. And you are correct. Until humans evolve, every system we try will be taken over by those greedy for power, control, and wealth.

Socialism in its present form is just another way for the banksters to gain more control. Socialism produces DEBT and always functions on a deficit. Ie. Military, Public Schools, Corporations, thus with these collectivist areas getting bigger it seems natural people want more of the same from government of the socialist variety imo.

The socialists will be leading the agenda in the short term imo. They will be devasted when their revenue streams dry up. Then they will rage and be marginalized. Many will sadly probably commit suicide because it will be the easy way out from my view.

There should be a psychiatric study on socialists in the meantime. A psycho analysis would perhaps be helpful to further comprehend the workings of socialists. Naturally, test subjects would be needed. I would suggest starting out with primates ;)

In the typical TV show the actors are cops, FBI agents, CIA agents, military people, etc., and usually violating the Constitution on a regular basis. (Hollywood loves to show us SWAT teams bashing down doors without ever bothering to pull out a search warrant.)
