Organizing via Facebook

I am sure this has been touched on time and time again but would like to share how I have began organizing via Facebook. The way I see it is if I give people idea's from what I have done or others can give me idea's then it is a win-win.

I first created a group called Rutherford County Libertarians whose mission statement states:
I would like to begin organizing Rutherford County Libertarians in order to achieve a common goal of electing like-minded individuals into local and state offices. These individuals in order to gain our support must have a history of supporting libertarian principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, state's rights, and personal liberties. We also need to be clear that we are willing to vote across party lines if it means supporting a candidate who has a record of supporting these values.

I then started off by reaching out to the Tennessee Libertarian Party Facebook group whom was very friendly to our creation.

After reaching out to them, I started off by liking other pages as the group page such as Murfreesboro, TN and other popular pages. When the debates were going on, many of the popular local pages had a picture such as "Are you watching the debates?" in which I tried to be active in replying under the group name as.

After doing that and inviting friends I was able to easily get to 30-40 likes (a small number, I know)

I then went to Facebook's advertising and selected Murfreesboro, TN with a radius of 25 miles and for the interests began entering things such as: Ron Paul, Gary Johnson, libertarians, and a few other libertarian subjects which showed me that we have over 8,000 Ron Paul / libertarian minded people in our small city's area. This is how I am trying to motivate people, to show them that on paper we are small numbers but organized I feel like we are unstoppable. We also have the ability to utilize the internet to our advantage which the liberty movement has already been utilizing to great success. For example, the local democratic/republican branches have small amounts of fans on facebook..

To give you some background about our city/state... We are in the bible belt of the nation and we face the worst sides of the drug war when it comes to the judicial system. (Do not get me wrong, the economic circumstances and our foreign policy is of more concern to me) Getting caught with any amount of marijuana in our state results in mandatory probation for at least one year and if it is not your first offense you will have it on your record for a very long time. Of course, if you have a good lawyer you can sometimes get off easier which is only showing the corruption of the system.

Why is it in our state you can have mandatory probation but in other states such as California you will have the equivalent of a traffic ticket? This is one of the many reasons I am attempting to organize on a local level. I will not be able to have as much success organizing for change on the national level, but if enough people organize locally you can have a big difference in local/state elections. Well, towards the end of this I began ranting a little bit, but any advice on organizing people would be great.
