I'll be a short way across a field from a Paul Ryan rally today

to teach my son about basketball. Wearing my Neil Gaiman Saucer Day t-shirt because Neil Gaiman is a cool guy.

Maybe we'll glance in that direction so I can tell my kids about what the government is and why people feel the need to conjure emotionalism to appease power.

Then we'll learn some basketball. And the baby will sit on her grandpa's lap and ask him for apple slices and the older kids will get a snack from grandma, then climb to the top of the rock pile over and over for no apparent reason.

Because we have our priorities straight.
