Danny Devito: Vote Yes on Prop 37

http://dailybail.com/home/danny-devito-your-right-to-know-vo...

In November, Californians will vote on Prop 37 requiring that GE foods be labeled. Just as labels list fat, sodium and sugar, labels should tell the buyer whether or not the product includes genetically engineered ingredients (GMOs). Unfortunately, major corporations like Monsanto are pouring billions of dollars into this election in order to confuse voters, and protect their bottom line.

I see too many Monsanto

I see too many Monsanto agents and "Biotech" progressive thugs have been unleashed on this board.

Hi Karl Rove, is that you?!?!

For me, the simplest issue in deciding how to vote is figuring out who benefits from either defeating or winning this measure? So I turn to see who is paying money opposing or supporting it?

It's clear-cut. [And I realize, the formatting below may come out weird since I'm cutting/pasting from that website. I'm not going to waste precious time on such minor issue.]

I mean, it's not even a contest. When a company like Monsanto is paying those kinds of amounts to defeat it....and yeah....I'm going to sit in my philosopher chair idealizing about free market. Yeah, right. I'll worry about free market solution when we're remotely close to it. Right now, we're at a cliff with respect to our food safety, fascism with total domination of agriculture industry. I have got my children's future to worry about. It's a no-brainer.

Yes on 37.

Immoral funding of Military Industrial Complex by Federal Reserve and US taxation system must stop!!!! End illegal/unconstitutional wars! Preserve US currency!

Thank you

Much obliged for your research skills and common sense.

I agree.If anyone has watched

I agree. If anyone has watched the GMO movie,I think they might want to know what they are feeding their family's. It's scary stuff.I now want to know whats in the food my family is eating so I would vote yes.
This really isn't about a free market,it's about outright poisoning and trying to have control over what we eat and grow.Monsanto needs to be brought down!

I have watched all the food

I have watched all the food documentaries. My opposition to 37 isn't about whether or not we should eat GMO's. Everyone can figure out that for themselves. My opposition is the question RP asks all the time. "What is the proper role of government?"And for the second time: Yes, states retain the legal right to pass 37. However, it's not a good idea.

Whatever happened to individual responsibility?

I eat primarily organic foods from more reliable companies. IE Straus Dairy. They check the feed for GMOs. I know I can trust them. Why is it necessary to have another regulation in California.

If you really believe in capitalism demand more transparency from your grocery stores.

"For me, the simplest issue

"For me, the simplest issue in deciding how to vote is figuring out who benefits from either defeating or winning this measure"

That is a very shallow way to avoid sticking to an actual philosophy. My only question about legislation is whether or not it infringes on rights. If a liberty position on an issue happens to help out someone I dislike, I'm not going to simply abandon my philosophy.

Exactly!

I have been wondering why so many "freedom" minded people here are opposing being able to know what kind of crap tptb are feeding us and I started to ask myself if DP has been horribly infiltrated by government rats. I mean how can anyone hold up for Monsanto? Have they seen the articles about what monsanto has done to farmers? The people here claim it's about government intervention but I feel like there is more to it to them really. Everyone here should watch "Foodinc" and then post. I almost died from whatever they are doing to beef and pork and there are little kids out there that HAVE died. Why? Who knows? Let's find out what we are feeding them! What's so hard about that?

skippy

"I have been wondering why so many "freedom" minded people here are opposing being able to know what kind of crap tptb are feeding us"

You are able to know. Call the manufacturer and ask if their products contain GMOs. If they refuse to answer, consider the answer to be a yes and move on. Be responsible enough to not rely on nanny government to tell you what foods are and are not okay.

Yeah like everyone's got the

Yeah like everyone's got the time to call on a hundred different food items and ask.Just put it on the label,it's part of the ingredients.

If you don't have the time to

If you don't have the time to research what is going into your body, then at least you and those who are like-minded can -willingly- create a watchdog group and publish your findings. The Better Business Bureau is a good example of this... and it does not require the use of force.

Yes... not every individual will make time to research their food, but there is always a free-market solution.

What do you think Monsantos plans are here?

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

I'm against GMOs as much as the next guy.

But the heavy hand of government whether State or Federal is not the way to solve this, we will just be making the same mistake that politicians have made over the last century. They saw the marketplace becoming less effective because regulations, however they thought it was some flaw with the free market and thus pursued more and more regulations, others saw this regulation and thus pursed other regulations to undo their unintended consequences. This started a viscous cycle which lead to the current mess we have now, the liberty minded must try and reverse these actions and restore the free market, more regulation will never solve anything.

It is an enormous simplification to speak of the American mind. Every American has his own mind.

Go ahead...

Petition to place a proposition on the ballot to remove the mandate providing a list of ingredients on commercial food packaging. Maybe I will support such a proposition, but until that happens, there it is, a list of ingredients. How about we make it more accurate while it is there? We separate wheat from barley on that list. We separate hydrogenated vegetable oil from vegetable oil. How about separating GMO-corn from corn?

I understand your point, but

I understand your point, but I highly doubt you are against GMOs as much as me.

For those of you who haven't seen the link I've posted before, here it is again. This is serious.

Whether you like it or not

This could easily be a state or Federal issue..

I'm all for swinging the pendulum back towards our favor but that doesn't mean I'm for doing away with ALL government.

Government is force. I'm for doing away with ALL of it. Name one thing the guvmint does well, other than build a damn good bomb?

How are you voting this year?

Can you please tell me one

Can you please tell me one thing the gubermint does well?

After much back and forth I decided I'm going to waste my vote on GJ. My first choice was not voting at all, but I'm trying to get some local wannabe politicians in office.

Why do you ask? Who are you voting for?

:D

I might vote for GJ too and some local wannabe politicians, but hey, the comment from rp4pres was funny enough to literally make me laugh out loud.

We have a corporation

We have a corporation masquerading as a government that makes laws for everyone else while they write loopholes for themselves,- these corporations have sole ownership of this government.

I'm ignorant of this history of how corporations took over america, as it was once unconstitutional for these corporations to exist in the first place, as they exist in the present state.

There is an essay written by Andrew Carnegie called the "Gospel of Wealth". Apparently he writes that he and rockefeller own everything so they have to creat the illusion that the free market still exists, so they administer licenses so people advance and make money, learning what they want them to learn.

i'm sorry, i read in this

i'm sorry, i read in this book Do it Yourself Weed Medicine, about an essay writtein in 1890 by Carnegie, but i'm skimming through the essay as we speak and i can't find where it says this:

"People who advance through schooling will be given licenses to lead profitable lives. This way, the entire economy can be controlled, and people have a motivation to learn what you want them to learn. It also places the minds of all children in the hands of a few social engineers."

lawrence

Well

It's a complicated issue. I don't like government getting involved either but I also don't like going shopping and not knowing what's in the stuff I buy. I try to keep away from gmo but it's impossible to do if you don't have the ingredients on the label. Are we supposed to get online and research EVERY bit of groceries we plan to buy first? I can't eat beef or pork anymore because I break out in hives and have almost died from them. This started suddenly several years ago. What has changed in the meat that causes this? Do you suppose the companies will WILLINGLY tell me? Nope.

skippy

"Do you suppose the companies

"Do you suppose the companies will WILLINGLY tell me? Nope."

They will tell you if you take responsibility for what you eat and ask them. If they refuse to answer, you know what the answer is.

Mind. Blown.

You people blow my mind. You cry "bring power back to the state!" and then when the state gives you the power to introduce meaningful legislation, you say "Nah, I don't need the state to protect me; all the free markets and good people in the corporations will regulate themselves!" I got news for you - this prop got on the ballet because THE PEOPLE demanded it. Just follow the money.

My Thought Exactly!

Thank you!

You should probably see your

You should probably see your doctor if you've developed a life-threatening response to certain foods.

You Mean

the doctors that are educated by the GOVERNMENT RUN schools? Been to them. All they did was tell me to stop eating meat, take my money and send me on my way. They won't even contemplate the possibility that it might be something IN the meat. I am pretty much a vegan now. I even start to itch from milk unless it's raw which fortunately is legal in Texas. (so far)

skippy

I voted no

Let the market decide, not the state.

What free market?

I have no idea why your comment got downvoted so hard. If people here believe this is any semblance of a free market, they are kidding themselves.
