GOP's Mike Rogers (R-MI): Bombing Iran Would Not be an Act of War

House Intelligence Committee chair U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) seems to be living in his own weird little world of international relations. Rogers told CNN Tuesday night that bombing Iran's nuclear facilities would be “short of war” and that he doubts that the Iranian government wouldn't see targeted strikes again its nuclear facilities as “an act of war.”

Bombing Iran could start World War III

Mike Rogers has been in U.S. Congress since 2001 and supported the Invassion of Iraq under false pretences. In 2010 he won reelection with 64% of the vote and became the Chair of the Congressional Intellegence committee thus overseeing the secret operations of the federal government. His News Letters have informed me that he advised Obama to invade Libya and Seryia, (afterall it is in America's best interests). What ever happened to the need to show an eminent and immediate threat before such actions could be taken?
Rogers seat is being challenged by the same big government Democrat that ran against him in 2010 who is not likely to win. However for 2012 we have a real "Liberty Candidate" running for this seat who will work to stop these interventions, bring the troops home, downsize the federal government, and restore individual rights. That would be Libertarian Candidate,
"Dan Goebel".

I am gonna have his wife deep throat me, i'll tell him it was

short of sex.

How about a "very targeted strike" on Roger's house?...

Would he consider THAT to still not be an act of war?

Ths hypocrisy of these war-mongering Neo-Cons is unbelievable.

While I will vote for

While I will vote for Johnson, I will very much rooting for Romney's defeat. The dangerous Rogers types dominate among the cabal who are advising him.

If Romney is elected, I have

If Romney is elected, I have no doubt the Zionists in Israel and the neocons in Washington will find an excuse to attack Iran. To think Iran will not respond to an overt act of war on its country is total fantasy. Such an attack could lead to a nuclear exchange between the US, China, and Russia, including other nuclear armed nations. For that reason my wife and I are spliting our vote this year, I will vote for Johnson and my wife will vote for Obama and let the chips fall where they may. BTW: For those that do not know, Zionism, like the neocons, is a political movement, although very powerful, they represent only a small minority of the Jewish people.

Also voting for the Gov.

But like Michael below I believe Romney is going to win. The question is what do we do to counter the neo-cons once they regain control? They believe they are righteous and do not listen to public opinion.

We know if they want war they will take us to war - they are not burdened by ethics, morality or the constitution.

A Romney victory will not be

A Romney victory will not be good for us. What to do?

Well....I suppose we can try to keep the fire on Rand's feet...but I suspect that he will knuckle under. If Rand wants to run in 2016, and he very much does, he'll try to be a "good solider" e.g. he'll make some mild criticism but nothing more. On the plus side, some of the Rand apologists may be disillusioned.

Romney 2012 means no Rand in 2016

As we have seen the nominee is pre-selected by the party and the primary is a show for the public. Rand Paul has no chance of becoming the nominee in 2016 over a sitting GOP President - zero.

Very good point! I forgot

Very good point! I forgot that. In any case, I suspect Rand's ambitions will then shift to 2020 and will still want to be a "good soldier." He'll have to contend with Paul Ryan, however, who will be the favorite candidate of those who claim to be "pro-small government." Much as I hate to admit it, Rand probably is also rooting for Obama (albeit secretly) to win.

So if someone punched Mike Rogers in the face...

So if someone walked up to Mike Rogers and punched him in the face from his blind side with a targeted strike he'd just get up, dust himself off and be on his merry way since it was short of assault.

He said so...

...so it must be so.

But why didn't he claim the bombing to be part of a "humanitarian mission."

To his credit, he kept from bursting out in laughs, that took some serious discipline to keep the giggling under wraps.

I love this fail Logic

I wonder if he had viewed China dropping a heavy bomb in New York on a "very specific location" where the Manhattan project was located during WW2 as a "short of war" act as well. I mean as long as its very specific its okay right :P

He must be being blackmailed to make such a statement.

What is he hiding?

Listen to the presstitute say 30,000 ton bunker buster,
let me educate you daily paulers here, ANY STRIKE ON A NUCLEAR FACILITY IN IRAN WILL NEED NUCLEAR WEAPONRY TO STRIKE THAT DEEP.

AGAIN

THERE IS NO CONVENTIONAL EXPLOSIVES WEAPONS SYSTEM THAT CAN TARGET IRANS FACILITIES,

so what this prick and whore are really talking about is NUCLEAR WAR!

oh yeah IRAN wont mind that at all.

THE FUCKEN GOLDEN RULE PEOPLE !

lets all move off the planet and start our own daily paul civilization where countries use diplomacy and trade to keep the peace. not warmongering and military industry.

Would this be short of a crime?

If someone just steals enough money to pay their bills, targeting only your extra money, would that be just short of a crime?

Let's see, semantics, semantics.

Vietnam was never declared a war...just ask a Vet what he/she went through...was it a war?

i give hiim credit

at least he has looked into what iran will think about it. he told you they won't see it as an act of war. what's the problem if they don't have a problem with it? where is your trust in your leaders?

Election Year

Maybe the good people of MI 8th district should be encouraged to vote for his opponent, Lance Enderle. http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Lance_Enderle

I don't like the majority of Mr. Enderle's stances, but the silver lining is his promotion of civil liberties.

LMAO!

What a jack***! I wonder how short of war Americans would think it was if Iran bombed a lemonade stand in the US? It wouldn't even have to be in the US just one of our lemonade stands abroad would be more than enough for the US to declare war, oh wait we don't declare war anymore - my bad. Unless its against UN-tangible targets (drugs, terror).

The bold effort the present bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it-Andrew Jackson

"short of war" is nothing

"short of war" is nothing short of doublespeak.

SteveMT's picture

Congressman Rogers: Ever heard of Pearl Harbor?!

Or 9/11, ever heard of that? These were just mere surgical strikes. By your definition, they were short of war. This is an incredibly dumb thing for him to say, and it would be laughable if this neocon showed any hint of not believing it so completely.

Only a Declaration of War

I guess only a Declaration of War could possibly make anything the U.S. does an "act of war," and since we refuse to do that, we are in the clear!!

Those are the first examples

that came to my mind--Pearl Harbor was very targeted, as was the World Trade Center--VERY targeted strikes, so . . . NOT an act of war? That's like including water boarding in the definition of torture after WWII, then changing the definition to exclude it when the U.S. wants to use that particular torture method.
I am so tired of all the excuses for justifying U.S. military bullying, and the standards that apply to everyone else but the U.S.

If you had asked

Assad (Syrian president) or Saddam Hussein (former Iraqi president) before: "would be an Israeli cross-border strike considered an act of war?", they would had replied "YES!"

But when Israel had performed clean strikes, not a peep was produced. Sometimes Intelligence Committee chair knows what he is talking.

This has to stop!

This guy must be defeated! I suggest that we formulate a plan to target hacks like this for defeat. We need to start identifying hacks like this and running a liberty candidate against them and we need to support them with money bombs and boots on the ground. If we could defeat 5 of these guys every two years we could send a message for sure. We need a plan.

If bombing a country that has not attacked us is not war...

What is?
