Young Millennials Are Becoming More Fiscally Conservative

CHICAGO (AP) — This generation of young Americans has been called many things, from civic-minded to "entitled." But fiscally conservative?

That's a new one, and it just might have an impact on the presidential election.

For some young people, an interest in individual freedom has sent them to the Libertarian party. Rachel Palermo, a 19-year-old in Northfield, Minn., is one of them.

"Our loss of trust may be why we have the mentality that the economy would be best with less intervention" says Palermo, a sophomore at St. Olaf College. She plans to vote for Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson.

As a 20 something I've always been a social liberal and a fiscal conservative and I'm happy to see that the new generation is waking up to the fact that none of the two parties care about the average American. The new generation is more open minded, i.e. more accepting of gay marriage, legalization of pot but they also know that the employment opportunities have been diminishing. They suffer from debt and know that the excess spending needs to stop.

This could be a great opportunity for the liberty movement but first they have to be informed that people like Romney are not true conservatives.

I was raised

on the theory of use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without~ it taught me a lot about being creative in your enviroment. Those are concepts I joyously pass on to all =)

See what Ron Paul started? ;)

See what Ron Paul started? ;)

I am disillusioned

After the 4 years of Obama's lies, I would say that I am disillusioned as well as many of my peers that graduated from college. Ever since I was a kid many adults promised me everything whether it's good quality education, scholarships, affordable loans, and good jobs after college. It's like waking up from a beautiful dream only to see misery around you.

As a graduate in Biological Sciences, I never imagine myself get into the realm of politics and economics. Ever since my exposure to Ron Paul, fellow liberty lovers here in the Daily Paul and the knowledgeable Ludwig Von Mises Institute, I have been studying the causes of economic depressions and preparing myself for the economic calamity about to erupt. I am in debt to knowledge and truth you guys in the Daily Paul and the LvMI have collected and shared in your archives.

My only wish is that one day our Government will finally reveal is ugly rear exposing for the corruption that plagued its original intent which is to serve the People. The only way WE the People can unmasked this liberty-loving wannabe institution is by teaching people the truth and the relevant facts. Whether it be our monetary policy to the undermining of our civil liberties, we all must educate ourselves if we are to teach others.

I have to admit. There are many closed-minded people who cannot accept the ideas i.e. the abolition of welfare that Ron Paul and like-minded individuals have taught for many years. However I know that there are many who are willing to change their minds and give the Liberty movement a try. It is mostly young people such as myself who will become to new generation of pro-libertarian/Austrian-econ/anarcho-capitalists in this age of disillusionment.

So I asked all of you. Please keep in touch with each other here in the Daily Paul as well as with your friends and family in these times of need. A battle of ideas is about to take place, and we need all the intellectual integrity we must muster if we are to persuade a great majority people that civil liberties and economics liberties are all one and the same.

One of my neighbors has been

One of my neighbors has been a university professor for quite some time. He went to Harvard the same time that GW and John Kerry did and he remembers them from that time.

Anyway, what he has told me supports this. He said the kids these days have more in common with their great-great-grandparents than with their parents as far as being more self reliant, fiscally conservative and that aside from MJ, they really aren't into drugs.

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.

There is a great awakening
