CHICAGO (AP) — This generation of young Americans has been called many things, from civic-minded to "entitled." But fiscally conservative?
That's a new one, and it just might have an impact on the presidential election.
For some young people, an interest in individual freedom has sent them to the Libertarian party. Rachel Palermo, a 19-year-old in Northfield, Minn., is one of them.
"Our loss of trust may be why we have the mentality that the economy would be best with less intervention" says Palermo, a sophomore at St. Olaf College. She plans to vote for Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson.

As a 20 something I've always been a social liberal and a fiscal conservative and I'm happy to see that the new generation is waking up to the fact that none of the two parties care about the average American. The new generation is more open minded, i.e. more accepting of gay marriage, legalization of pot but they also know that the employment opportunities have been diminishing. They suffer from debt and know that the excess spending needs to stop.
This could be a great opportunity for the liberty movement but first they have to be informed that people like Romney are not true conservatives.
