Obama's Church

I received this as an email. Now, who is the racist, really?

Obama's church

Obama mentioned his church during his appearance with Oprah. It's the Trinity Church of Christ. I found this interesting.

Obama's church:
Please read and go to this church's website and read what is written there. It is very alarming.
Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their website, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable
commitment to Africa. No where is AMERICA even mentioned. Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join
Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!!! Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.
Strip away his nice looks, t he big smile and smooth talk and what do you get? Certainly a racist, as plainly defined by the stated position of his church! And possibly a covert worshiper of the Muslim faith, even today. This guy desires to rule over America
while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa!
I cannot believe this has not been all over the TV and newspapers.
This is why it is so important to pass this message along to all of
our family & friends. To think that Obama has even the slightest
chance in the run for the presidency, is really scary.

This is the web page for the church Barack Obama belongs to:

Forget about the e-mail

verify the facts, This is from the TUCC, spoke today:

Rev John H. Thomas, the UCC's general minister and president, -->

"Mr Obama has been a member of Trinity UCC for 20 years. Since he won the Iowa caucuses on 3 January 2008, a flurry of e-mail messages with identical language and sentiment began circulating across the Internet, claiming that Trinity UCC was a "racist" congregation because of its long-stated church motto: "Unashamedly Black, Unapologetically Christian."

"Trinity UCC is rooted in and proud of its Afrocentric heritage," Thomas said. "This is no different than the hundreds of UCC churches from the German Evangelical and Reformed stream that continue to own and celebrate their German heritage, insisting on annual sausage and sauerkraut dinners and singing Stille Nacht on Christmas Eve. Recognizing and celebrating our distinctive racial-ethnic heritages, cultures, languages and customs are what make us unique as a united and uniting denomination."

You decide, while German Evangelicals might celebrate their German decent, the Trinity Church actually has in their Mission Statement:

* A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA. *

which some find offensive.

I doubt that the German Evangelical church has in their mission statement

{ a congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO GERMANY }

and not a more palatable:

a congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO Christ or Jesus or Mohammed or any other prophet.

Africa is a grouping of nations and racist remark used in that context.

See how Dr. specifically speaks about racism and that all should be individuals and not place names on groups.

Here.

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

sorry, wrong again

Once again, if you go www.snopes.com this email is false. Doesn't take long to figure it out. Unless, of course, snopes is lying. I don't know who to trust anymore. But, for now, I don't believe it.

An EMAIL told you this? Prove it!

Don't overlook the fact that there are many people (and organizations) that are slandering and smearing Ron Paul, Obama, and the other candidates.

Don't believe an email, check the facts.

Does Obama SAY that he is part of this congregation? Show us the evidence.

Amen on check the facts.

Amen on check the facts. Simple google on Obama church turns up his home church and you can read 'about us' and their mission statement. Also plenty more appears about Obama's mentor Pastor Wright and his support of Louis Farakahn.

Obama affiliation to the united church of christ

is well documented, look at some old forums on this topic,
