Ron Paul Warned Us: United States, Not China, Is Biggest Currency Manipulator

During the presidential debates and on the campaign trail, former Governor Mitt Romney has focused many of his attacks on China. Accusing them of "manipulating their currency" to gain and unfair trade advantage against the U.S., Romney has promised to isolate China on his first day in his office in part of a broader hawkish policy towards China. But not only is Romney wrong to demonize China, he completely ignores the real currency manipulators: the U.S. Federal Reserve.

In classic politician doublespeak, Romney's accusations against China are a few truths mixed in with a lot of lies, pandering and propaganda. While it is true that China has been keeping the value of its currency artificially low over the last decade, this has been largely in response to the U.S. doing essentially the exact same thing for four decades now.

Since 1971 when President Nixon infamously defaulted and cut all gold ties from the dollar, the U.S. government and the Federal Reserve have been printing trillions of dollars as part of a deliberate strategy to boost U.S. exports and harm nations exporting goods to the U.S. China holds hundreds of billions worth of U.S. government bonds of debt and has been repaying its creditors, like China, with increasingly devalued dollars.

I laugh when Romney says that cutting down on trade with China will create jobs. Yeah, jobs in some other third world country. Isolationism is not the answer, a free market combined with free trade is.

It is an enormous simplification to speak of the American mind. Every American has his own mind.

~Ludwig von Mises

We are already in a trade war with China.....

just like Ron Paul said recently. It is being done through currency manipulation instead of tariffs.

Now, we see Obama starting to advocate tariffs which will just escalate the trade war which has been going on for decades.

We need to renegotiate all of our so called 'free trade agreements' asap. 100% pure bilateral free trade or no deal!

Thanks Tom

Hope you're feeling better today.

I do feel much better today -- Thank you my friend

I want to apologize for my last night's poorly thought-out post about "25 trolls" on your site.

DP gets around 100,000 visitors each day so obviously there will be a dozen of so "bad guys"...

I need to stop creating this negative anger vibe towards folks who attack me. I will focus on the positivity.
Yes I got totally wet by the storm yesterday but I should have taken it in a positive way as a free shower from heavens.

Stay dry my friend.
Enjoy your day!

And you can't stop that

And you can't stop that negative atmosphere vibe by labeling anyone "bad guys."

You shouldn't vote information down

just because you don't like the poster.

How very, very petty.

And if I could add something else to my comment...

about voting...

Sometimes I acidently hit the vote button and then my vote is cast, and the only way I can uncast it (If I think it really necessary) is to vote the opposite way, but then instead of defaulting back to a no vote the score changes the other way.

i.e. if someone has a -2 and I accidently vote up it goes to -1 but if I try to remove my vote the number changes to -3. When really, I would prefer the count to stay at -2 without any voice from me at all.

Sorry to add this crazy discussion to yours, but I just did that very thing and thought I better say something about it since it has happened by me several times.

ive had this same problem

ive had this same problem

it happened to me too

That's why I'm nowdays very careful what/where I click.
If the page jumps just an inch I know what can happen to my vote.

Yes,

and to be honest I accidently did that to you of all people today. You who I hope to encourage (I saw you had a hard day yesterday) rather than discourage, but it was the life issue and I could not leave my vote as positive. That is why I decided to come right back over here and mention the problem...which probably should be in the MOD box instead of directed to Michael, but he was on the discussion of voting and I chimed in and then later accidently did that down vote to you. I was trying to copy your title by highlighting it when it happened...

Most of the time I don't vote if it would be a negative vote...only unless I have it well thought out before hand.

What is worse is when I accidently vote myself up when I think I am voting the person above me up...then what am I supposed to do, undo that vote and then make my comment into a negative comment...

Oh the intricacies of life...I suppose only those who study their navel have such trouble...that would be me.

...

I don't really like the

I don't really like the voting thing. On another thread all of my posts were down voted. Not because I was being rude or breaking any posting rules or saying something completely out of nonsense. I was down voted because I spoke about my beliefs. It was only out of discussion and not to call anyone else wrong. And then I realized that someone was going through the entire thread and maybe just down voting me for the sake of down voting.

Yes,

That has happened to me before. It feels crummy. I didn't retaliate. I just let it be. My goal is to agree to disagree and to be agreeable about it http://www.dailypaul.com/246727/can-friends-of-liberty-to-ag... .

There are 2 things I try to abide by:

Proverbs 15:1 KJV
A softanswer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Proverbs 18:24 KJV
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly : and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Other than that, the chips will fall where people toss them and you can't let it bother you. Just rise above the ocassion.

Great post. My thoughts

Great post. My thoughts exactly.

I've always enjoyed a friendly debate. I veiw it as a chance to learn from one another. I have found friendly debates hard to come by lately on the dp.

Yes, that is exactly how I

Yes, that is exactly how I learn, and if I am wrong about something, well it gives my Friends in Liberty to see how I am thinking and say something.

I think tensions are especially high right now. I really haven't enjoyed the infighting and seeing people at each other's throats. But then again, perhaps not all are really Friends of Liberty. It is hard to know what people’s motives truly are. This is the first election process I have been thru with the DP. Maybe after next week things will calm down abit.

Nice to chat with you :)

Great chatting with you too!

Great chatting with you too! Perhaps we will "bump into" each other again on a random dp thread! I've seen you post from time to time...you are kind person, always ejecting positivity. Have a great night!

Thank you,

Yes, I look forward to bumping into you again!

A little tip: Something I noticed being done to me by older users was they would vote my comment to them up and then I would do the same for them. I think that just makes people feel good and it also adds a positive air...and if someone starts voting down a specific ID, well it'll take 2 votes to make it a negative. So I try to mostly do that unless there is something that I can just not absolutely vote up. Now, I chat with a certain person regularly, and we do not do that, but otherwise I try to.

Have a good one.

Yes...a vote up is sort of

Yes...a vote up is sort of like a wink or a kind nudge from a friend. I dig it! Take care, be safe, and stay warm!

Bear you are such a beautiful shining soul

Your dedication you passion in regards to the life issue is...I have no words.

God created this planet so this planet lives on.
God did not create this planet so the evil machine starts a World War III.

Gary Johnson is in my personal opinion the most important anti-abortion activist on this very planet! Because he works hard every freaking day to prevent the next/the final war!

Don't get me started :)

I am a purist when it comes to abortion.

Can you talk to GJ and ask him to reassess his stance on viability?

Legalize can you picture 42,000,000 fetuses of human life piled high to heaven? What if each were only the size of a finger tip...1/2 an inch thick. That would be 21,000,000 inches of unborn children. Per year: 21000000 Inches = 533.400 Kilometers or 331.43939 miles
from the earth into heaven...in one year alone. And that is assuming only an 1/2 inch thickness of each.

It is no wonder we are out numbered by evil dictators. The power of the people has been stifled before their voices were ever heard.

I am glad you said so...

...It seems sometimes all people do is look at an ID and down vote it regardless of the information supplied...as if there is not someone human attached to that ID.

The other thing that I find somewhat along the same lines is upvoting one's self while downvoting the ID making a comment.

I have to admit, I reverse votes sometimes and make it equal...that may be petty as well.

I see you have weathered the storm and are online today :)

I like your signature line I find the libery landscape so full of mines sometimes I cannot remember to remember first principles when looking at different views.

I hope you don't have too much clean up. Did you see the shark photo? from Ian56 http://www.dailypaul.com/comment/2807921 It gave me shivers.

Have a nice day. Thank you for inviting us to your "livingroom."
