Ron Paul Should Have Endorsed Gary Johnson

Ron should have endorsed Gary just based on his stellar record of fiscal conservatism as Governor of New Mexico.

This election isn't about social issues like abortion, it is about fiscal conservatism and civil liberties! Gary Johnson has a superb resume and is just as qualified to be President as Ron Paul.

I suspect Ron Paul is protecting the GOP and Rand Paul just like he did all year by refusing to confront Romney with OUR MONEY! It's too bad Ron chose to end his career in such a deceitful way. It is a huge stain on his otherwise flawless record of integrity.

Helping Mitt Romney ain't "Integrity"

Ron Paul won't endorse ...... the one candidate in the race (Gary Johnson) who actually wants to Abolish the Federal Reserve, Stop the Wars, End the Drug Wars, Cut the Deficit, End The Patriot Act, End NDAA, etc. ... because he thinks Mitt Romney will "reform" himself?

Sorry, there is no integrity in that.

Only a hypocrite would not want Johnson, and these issues to prevail ... over Mitt Romney fascism and the status-quo.

Ding dong

I agree again

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy

Cool down

Dr. Paul backs his son, not Romney. Even with Ron Paul's endorsement Gary Johnson doesn't win.

The only person Dr. Paul could endorse who could win the Presidency was himself and he threw everything into it at 76 years old and never bowed.

The man is courageous. But he is a human being, not a god. We all make mistakes. How about a little respect for an elder statesman who served with honor, integrity & conviction for decades.

Be calm, the world doesn't end if Romney becomes president. Johnson has already said 12' is his dry-run for 16'.

Yet another so called "Libertarian" that really just hates Ron

Paul inside.. Cato much?

Ron Paul won't endorse Romney either. There is no picking one over the other..

Gary does not stand the Liberty sniff test.. Sure he may talk like he does now but he's a neocon leaning bastard.

Way too harsh, mate

Ron Paul has done more for Liberty in the United States than anyone in my lifetime. And he has done it with the same understated, quiet, Christian steadfastness that he showed at the end of his campaign. Getting assassinated would not have helped the cause of Liberty. I believe he went out with dignity and leadership. But we do need to look now to other leaders to take the torch from him and carry it forward.

Obedience to God is resistance to tyrants.

Gary Johnson is the OTHER LEADER

So why has Ron Paul been helping Mitt Romney, and doing absolutely nothing to help Gary Johnson?

I call Hypocrisy.

Ron Paul has not been helping Mitt Romney. He has come closer to endorsing Johnson than he has to endorsing anyone else.

Gary Johnson is 'an' other leader, he is not 'the' other leader.

His flaw is that he is not a Christian, and that gives some cause for reservation.

I still think he's the best candidate in the running and worthy of a vote.

Get a grip.

Obedience to God is resistance to tyrants.

Gary Johnson should've

Gary Johnson should've endorsed Ron Paul! We either hang together or we hang separately!

He did!

Gary Johnson last winter said Ron Paul was who he wanted to team up with. But Ron Paul stiffed him and became a stalking horse for Mitt Romney.

Ron Paul used his popularity to clear out the rest of the GOP field for the benefit of Mitt Romney (then promptly quit to leave Romney's pathway uncontested). Yet he won't use his popularity to lift a finger for the Libertarian: and Johnson's anti-war, anti-Fed, anti-PoliceState platform...

Ron Paul is all theater and farce.
When the chips were on the line, he shrunk from the battle.

The truth hurts.

Amen! Well said!

Either that or continue campaigning as an independent - or get on the libertarian ticket. To not endorse anyone is completely irresponsible.

He's endorsing plenty of candidates... but not for president! So don't tell me he's not putting PARTY over COUNTRY!!!

Rand Paul SCREWED himself supporting Romney and he has NO CHANCE IN HELL of garnering the support of even half the people Ron Paul rallied together this year. RAND PAUL STUCK WITH HIS SUPPORT OF ROMNEY EVEN AFTER WHAT HAPPENED AT THE RNC! DEPLORABLE!

What do you know?!

Every move Dr. Paul makes himself is well calculated. He said that GJ is a great person and people should take a look at him. That's as far as he is gonna go as he has his son's political career to think about, not to mention his adherence to the "take over the GOP" approach. He was with the LP and was their candidate in 1988, but I believe he recognized it as a dead-end at the time and moved on to a new strategy in later years. I still think taking over the GOP is a good strategy, and am dismayed by the people who so readily want to give up on it.

If I could vote for Dr. Paul in New York, I would, but we did not get write-in status for him here. Coupled with the fact that I am positive he does not want to be president. So, I am voting for GJ, simply to send a message that I am for liberty (if my vote is even counted). It would also be nice if they get their 5% so we could see some pro-liberty ads next cycle on national TV. If Rand runs, GJ may step aside or be his running mate if it seems politically viable for Rand to do so. If they get their 5%, they can just run attack ads against the Dem candidate because if they try to go against Rand on the platform of liberty, they will lose 90% of their base.

So, I hope Obama wins and Rand runs in 2016. Then I can actually start agreeing with The Granger.

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

Woah - back up a bit

The Dr. conducted himself with integrity. He achieved a lot and is under no obligation to endorse anyone including Gov. Johnson. As a man of principle there are a few key areas where he and the Governor disagree. That said, Dr. Paul has never said anything negative about the Governor, never.

As a Johnson voter (voted) I would have loved to see Dr. Paul openly campaign for the Gov. but it didn't happen. Show the man the respect he deserves and let him be.

Focus your anger on the campaign staff. I did not donate money to the campaign to fund Jesse Benton's career path so he could become Mitch McConnell's useful idiot. Benton has no integrity. Unfortunately, the Dr. may be guilty of extending trust to the wrong person. It has happened to all us.

> "Focus your anger on the campaign staff. I did not donate money to the campaign to fund Jesse Benton's career path..."

But who's driving the bus here? If Ron Paul cannot control the major goals and major decisions of his own Campaign, then how could be even be President (and carry out any agenda) to begin with?

This really has nothing to do with "his staff". Ron Paul has to approve of, and sign-off on all the decisions that his staff members suggest. He obviously approved of quitting early, and going dead-silent way back in April. He obviously approved of leaving Mitt Romney with an uncontested pathway to the Nomination for 5 months, and telling everyone to not rock any boats at the Convention, and to just fall in line with the Establishment. He shrunk from the whole battle, right when it counted.

And he obviously approved of keeping silent about Mitt Romney, and not lifting a finger to support the efforts of Gary Johnson, and a freedom policy agenda for President.

Ron Paul must be held accountable for his own actions.

He has done nothing positive for the Liberty movement since March. By refusing to throw his weight behind Johnson, he has shown himself to be all just about theater and a fake show.

A real anti-Fed, anti-War, anti-PoliceState, smaller-Gov. candidate is out there fighting, and Ron Paul has done nothing whatsoever to help him.

Not easy to lead

All leaders have to delegate responsibility and authority or they become the bottleneck. It is a huge risk to take and it doesn't always go well.

You have no idea of the dynamics that could have been at play:

*Relationship with the GOP
*Dynamic with Senator Paul
*Romney - maybe he made the judgement not to draw the wrath of his backers. Maybe he realized that Bachmann is batshit, Newt is a shill, Perry is a simpleton, Cain was quoting Pokemon and Santorum is a fake. Maybe he thought if he couldn't win the best scenario was Romney.
*If at 76 and 2 cycles of campaigning maybe the Dr. needed to back off for health reasons, for family, for his personal sanity...

Who knows, not you or I. This man fought hard and took risk. Dr. Paul made his decisions, he is not god, he is fallible like the rest of us.

Gov. Johnson can stand on his own feet. He has proven it. He needs to build his own following. Dr. Paul cannot pass a torch to him. The Gov. knows he has to earn it - he earned my vote and he will continue to do so one vote at a time. 5% in 12' and drive on to 2016.

Remember what the Governor said at PAUL Fest: "I have two words for Ron Paul, Thank You." Dr. Paul deserves our thanks.

Ron Paul is not your property

Ron Paul is not your property and he doesn't have to do what you tell him to do.

Then why....

Then why is he always asking for Millions of our dollars.....???

Don't the true stockholders have a say here? Who gets all that money?

Surely not Gary Johnson (the one Libertarian candidate). Maybe he gave all the money to his buddy Mitt Romney.

Hasn't done a damn thing to help Johnson, or "the movement" since April......

No you dumb bitch

Ron Paul is not your corporation. You had your say idiot when you gave money to the guy.. If you didn't think it was worth it, then you should have kept it to spend on Obama.

You motherFukers CANNOT be real Libertarians. You're probably neocons trolling.

Real Libertarians VOTE for the Libertarian Candidate!

But the Paul family just wants to take our money, and clear out the pathway for Mitt Romney, and abandon the one Libertarian guy.

It's pretty clear who the phonies are.

Yeah it's clear.. You're just a firestarter. Who pays you to come here and start them.

Well duh!

I think we are all mature enough here to realize that. We are not telling anyone what to do - we are "arm-chair quarter-backing" by stating our opinion, and what we think is the right thing to do in the cause of Liberty

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy

No, Paul should have kicked the GOP to the curb,

and led the ticket with Johnson as his VP. No one could have blamed Ron Paul, after the way the GOP/RNC treated him. He should have been prepared with volumes of documentation against the crummy party. Really stir the stink up. What's he got to lose. I thought one of the biggest goals out there is to bust up the 2 party system. Can you imagine how a legitimate Ron Paul ticket would fare in a general election? Talk about bringing people out of their fog. Let Obama bus in his inner city school kids to vote, let Romney rely on his corporate office party voters, but a real Ron Paul ticket might just get real people off the couch. I'm a little let down that Ron Paul didn't navigate his way a little further upstream...he could have been our President.

Even though I lean pro-life

I can't see how any libertarian could say that that's the worst injustice going on in society thanks to government. I mean if there were no government and a free market for law enforcement I think it's very possible that abortion would still exist. Meanwhile there are much more blatant things going on like big companies lobbying the government to require expensive licenses for their competitors to be able to compete in their industry. To me that's a much more blatant injustice, because with abortion at least there's the 'it's her body' argument whereas with occupation licensing and stuff there's NO legit excuse.

You are speaking of liberty

Ron Paul says "Unless we understand…we must protect life, we cannot protect liberty."

The essence of protecting the very vulnerable who have no voice is the very essence that will protect those of us who are stronger who have a voice.

It is a foundational building block.

I'm upset too but Ron has a

I'm upset too but Ron has a perfect right not to endorse Johnson. Look at the bright side: he has refused to endorse Romney, which was a real fear by many here.

I disagree......

Ron Paul has indeed endorsed Mitt Romney by not confronting him in the primary season, not demanding our delegates be seated, not demanding his name be placed into nomination, not endorsing Gary Johnson and not exposing the election fraud that occured with the RNC in every single interview given to this day!

and the list goes on and on and on

I can't really argue with

I can't really argue with you....and share your disappointment with one exception. It would have been far, far worse if Ron had actually made an official endorsement of Romney. If Romney loses, the GOP will blame us because of it and I will be overjoyed to proudly accept this blame.

From what I have seen

regarding Ron Paul's public servant behavior, his decision not to support someone or something is based first on principle and not policy.

For some reason, perhaps the right to life reason, he has chosen not to support GJ. Many find the right to life reason to be a very important one...it is a heart issue and no one can judge what a person holds dearly in their heart.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.
